      mudslinger704 Yeah that's why I need one I have a riding mower that I can get a plow for and chains but it's a 10 year old Husqvarna riding mower with 2,000 hours on it so I don't wanna put stress on the engine anymore and break that mower I already had to get that mower fixed 3 times over the summer to get the deck repaired

    good video, can you make one to show the spark plug? i cant seem to locate it

    • @trevorwilson5461
      @trevorwilson5461 5 лет назад

      there is one on line on how to change your plug.on a polaris sportsman it's on top of cylinder.pull off the red cap and it's down in the hole. it's five eighths.but a socket won't be long enough. I grinder the screw driver part off an old 2 sided chainsaw plug wrench and it was 5/8 on one side and 13/16 on the other.I put the 5/8 down over the plug and loosened it at the top with a 13/16 wrench.you should have a kit at the back of the machine in a compartment.hope that helps.my kit got stolen

    How do you know which type of oil is needed in a four wheeler??

    • @mudslinger704
      @mudslinger704  5 лет назад

      Owners manual.

    • @Hammerback0
      @Hammerback0 3 года назад

      Or google search. I just bought a 2005 500 H.O. And to my surprise... the previous owner lost the manual! And it’s only a 16 year old machine. Pretty irresponsible of the guy.

    THIS SHOULD HELP EVERYONE = just so everyone knows and to make it easier for everyone thats not sure about which oil goes where and all these oil names and types. so if you have a 2 or 4 stroke atv the tranny oil and both the front/rear differential gears are all the same oil lubrication. since the tranny is part of your gears and its all connected you simply use the same oil. so anything called gear oil or tranny oil are all the same kind of oil, you just need to know which weight to use on your model atv/utv/dirtbike. if you have a 2 stroke this means you mix gas and 2 stroke engine oil and you dont have a oil dip stick or a oil filter. if you have a 4 stroke motor you run straight gas and you simply buy regular 4 stroke oil at your local autozone, advance auto and so on and you simply change your oil every 50 to 100 hours or 300 to 600 miles depending on how much you ride and where you ride. so transmission fluid and gear oil are the same kind of oil rather you have a 2 or 4 stroke motor. forget all these fancy names that say you have to buy all these different oils = gear oil and tranny oil are the same. i even use gear oil and tranny oil for my hub oil since hub oil is extremely lean and not thick you are able to cover all 3 of these fluids by using the same tranny oil/gear oil...some buy hub oil while others use tranny/gear oil. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON BUYING NAME BRAND OILS EVER! YOUR LOCAL STORES HAVE EVERYTHING YOU NEED! HOPE THIS HELPS

    Which line do you clamp to prime the oil pump? Is it the one that is connected to the bolt with metal screen or is it the oil line coming from the top of the oil resevoir

    • @mudslinger704
      @mudslinger704  9 лет назад

      it's a vent line on top of the oil reservoir, watch 10:33.

    is it alright to run 0w-40 in a 500cc Polaris. I have been using 10w-40. Thanks

    • @mudslinger704
      @mudslinger704  10 лет назад

      yes it is. you can also run a 5w50.

      I run thinner oil in the winter.but I live in Canada and I don't have a garage so we are talking 30 degrees F in summer and -30 f in the winter.I warm my 500 up very slowly in the winter.I have a new one and a carbureted 500 I bought new in 06? I think.it was the first year u had the option of carb or e.f.i. and it still runs awsome.

    is the 5w50 oil...can I use that year round?

    • @mudslinger704
      @mudslinger704  10 лет назад

      yes, Polaris updated the oil viscosity to 5w50. and it is a good viscosity for all year round temps.
