Just got a ‘04 500 HO had to rewatch your videos with the sound they make at startup idle where there is that slapping rod sound always got me paranoid. Thanks for the awesome video!
@@TitaniummanGarage I hear the bendix a bit ordered one but there is that other slapping sound but like you said can be the clutch also it’s two sounds like in your video
Aren't you supposed to prime the oil pump if you drain the crankcase by using a pliers or hemostat on the hose of the top part of the oil tank? that has a slit in it.
I've heard of guys doing that. I would do that on a fresh rebuild. There is oil all over the inside of the engine when you do an oil change. So a quick start up like I showed won't hurt anything. It takes 3 seconds for the oil to circulate in the engine unless you have a weak pump. I've never had an issue.

Usually its the bendix gear by the starter that makes noise. Or the clutch rattling.
On mine it was the clutch making that noise. I replaced the clutch and the noise was gone.

Teflon tape on metal plugs going into aluminum,no stick no overtighten noleaks need more reasons?
Just bought a used ATP 500 sportsman and heard you say about gas in the oil! Mine had gas in the oil also! What causes that? Thanks for the videos
Usually it's a leaking carb. Bad needle and seat. Leaks fuel into cylinder and down into the oil.
Hey, what’s the plug on the right side of the engine floor? It looks like it’s the clutch cover.
Good video
just curious of what oil you use for that machine
He said 0w-40 is good n he heard 5w-40
Mine is not starting after changing the oil what do I do
Great u know what size oil pan bolt
No actually I dont. I just know it takes a 14mm wrench to get it off.
I have a 1999 Polaris 500 Sportsman - any idea where to find replacement plastics for it?
You could try ebay or powersportsnation.
Have you ever used engine rebuild kits from a company called REV 6...they have a kit for $1400...for Polaris 500 engines...
Good company with quality parts. I have only used some of the parts they have from other vendors like their crankshafts.
What box wrench size should I use for the crank case drain plug?
14mm
Or 9/16”
Thanks folks. Very helpful

I think you only need to do that if you pull the screen in the reserve tank, sometimes I pull it sometimes not
@@bwfreel you are correct sir
