My daughter took me to a Tibetan tea house in Chengdu when I visited her there, and we had that tea. The flavor was a bit disarming at first because I had never tasted anything like it. It was AMAZING! The Yak milk butter is a flavor I will never forget. I only wish I could get it in the US.

I’ve been to a few Tibetan restaurants in Chengdu as well! It’s so cool to experience a different culture through food 😊

I drink butter in my coffee as well. I bought a tiny hand blender to mix it.

When we talk about Chinese food, we always think of soy sauce at first, but never realized the variety of food choice actually existed in those remote communities, given the "big pot" of 56 nations in the population.

@lucy-br2ev 🤣🤣🤣nice try.. tibetan are never chinese. They are call Tibetan from Tibet. Different people different culture, different language, different religion, different national flag, different histories, different nation anthems, list goes on n on Tibetan are not chinese. Tibet was occupied by CCP China in 1959.

Tip, drink the Tibetan butter tea when it is hot. If you let it cool down too much it becomes unpalatable.

When I visited Tibet and tried butter tea I did add a tad sugar. It made it so much more pleasant. Yes I know not custom but that’s just how I like to drink it.
