@Mason David no, because drag racing is not the only criteria that makes a daily car good. Should we start talking about the shit interior quality BMW has in new models, the shit design that makes you puke, driveability in bad weather conditions, or the general better build of the Audi?
That's a great question, but I'm not sure. I imagine they do since they have a European presence. Check out the link to their site in the video description to get their contact info.
So every video I see is people removing the “silencers” in the front but not that big resonator in the rear. I was planning on keeping the front silencers and getting rid of the resonator. Would that be the wrong choice? I’m also replacing the downpipe and keeping the factory mufflers on. Have you heard it done that way? I just really don’t want drone. Any advise would be appreciated!!!! Thank you!
Most people are installing a downpipe and replacing the front silencers like this video shows, the big resonator toward the rear helps eliminate drone along with the stock muffler. The downpipe itself will introduce a tiny bit of drone at low RPMs under load. Like when going up a hill. I still have the stock muffler and resonator on my S5 because I don’t want to add any more drone. I also like the ability to use the drive modes to quiet the exhaust in comfort mode if I want.
Yes! The RedStar DP is awesome! After doing the pre-muffler delete I would say for sure two things happened, 1) the car is louder when I want it to be, and 2) there is less drone. Drone hasn't gone away completely when I'm in dynamic mode, but it only exists in small RPM ranges under load.
@@Vaguh Very interesting that deleting resonators reduced drone for you. I currently have the RedStar DP, the Gesi cat, on my 2021 SQ5 and there is absolutely no drone whatsoever. I'm contemplating going with VPS or just for the shop to weld peace of pipe, but concerned that would actually add drone, not reduce as in your case.

Have you done it since? If you chose the VPS route, how did it fit? Or did it at all?
Why no X pipe from 034 Yet? Or should i say why did u go pre cat res deletes over the X pipe? 🤔 Thanks to YOU! I contacted tony and ordered the pre cat res deletes lol, i have the 034 x pipe sitting in my living room right now.
Honestly, I’m a little concerned about drone. My wife isn’t a huge fan of the car being too loud. This way, the resonator keeps the drone in check when driving in comfort mode, but gives me a good sound paired with the Redstar downpipe when in Dynamic.
Thank you for the video. How does this compare to Audi’s OEM resonator kit, other than being 3x less in cost? I’m not a huge aftermarket guy, and I’d like to keep things stock minus cosmetic / wheel changes. Does the VPS kit void any warranty? Thank you in advance.
Jeremy, do you still have this on your s5? How has it/ the clamps held up? Did you have to use washers/spacers on the driver side hanger for proper fitment? Thanks.
I do still have it on my car. I actually have a set of IE midpipes I’m going to replace it with. It’s held up pretty good. I did use washers for spacers. The IE kit is much higher quality and doesn’t require cutting, however you do have to get to the downpipe bolts.
@@Vaguh thanks man you just saved me ten more hours of agonizing over which way to go. I’m going to go with the IE mid pipes. The advantages I see to this is I can unclamp the turbo and downpipe and get a look at the IE high flow cat to make sure it’s still in good shape, I keep the stock mid pipes in OEM condition if I should ever choose to go back to them or sell them and better fitment and quality is important to me even though you never see it. Money is not the issue and the extra work on those damn bolts is a bit annoying, but probably will, be satisfying in some weird sense. Have you thought about rebuilding the internals of your engine to prepare it for 1000 hp?
@@jimtraugermd if you buy the IE kit use code itspronouncedVAGUH. Should save you 5%. Also, I’m thinking I’ll keep my internals as is until something happens. I’ll be getting to the track more this spring and we’ll see how it goes.
I need your help please. i went in to delete the two res in the front but my guy said that they were catalytic converter‘s. are they cats or are they resonators?
Hey! I had to look it up to double check and found that Audi refers to them as “Pipe. MUFFLER. Exhaust.” So I think they are actually two smaller pre-mufflers. Here is a link to the exhaust parts diagram I found. www.partscolumbusaudi.com/a/Audi__S5-Sportback/__7604236/EXHAUST-SYSTEM-EXHAUST-COMPONENTS/1341395.html
So I don’t have access to a lift, and getting told from local shops it’s a 3 hour job to drop the full exhaust to measure, cut and install - they don’t want to hit the heat shield or cut “angled”. Am I getting hosed and should I just keep looking for someplace to do it with it installed?
It took me like 3 hours to do 2 cars and video it. There is an alternative, IE makes mid-pipes that do the same thing. They unbolt at the downpipe, but they cost a bit more.
I have been fighting mine all weekend and cant seem to get them to either not leak, or not vibrate against the hanger on the driver side. I didn't get any sealant in my kit, and my pipes are the new updated ones. Did you find that there were two different pipes, a driver and passenger side? Did you use the supplied sealant in your kit? How close did you get the front of the pipe to the place where you cut. Is it sitting right up against it? Sorry for all the questions :)
I'm not sure, but this sounds great and didn't add much drone. I think the middle res delete might and a bit more drone. I've heard they still sound great.
It's Pronounced VA-Guh thanks, so what is your exact setup? I’m aware there are 3 resonators, which one of them did you delete? And did you also delete the cat?
Tawfiq Oladoja we replace the front resonators. The white car is stock otherwise, and the grey one also has a Redstar Exhaust downpipe with an HJS 200 cell high flow cat.
There are definitely pops still. In this video I didn’t really concentrate on making them. I think I may to a video on just the exhaust set up for my car.

Did you get a CEL with the downpipe? Also, how bad is the exhaust fumes?
No fumes at all. I did get a CEL with the downpipe, but they’re shipping with 2 new Gen2 options that don’t give a CEL.
