- Today we're spending time with Mike Graham and Chad Miller, founders of The Gravity Group. The Gravity Group is one of the leading wooden roller coaster manufacturers in the industry, constructing unbelievable rides around the world. We had the opportunity to visit their factory in Cincinnati, Ohio, to see where the magic happens!

‘’It goes back to sixth grade, I was building LEGO’s...’’
This man
Is me from the future
Or I am him from the past.
In the early 80's as a young teen I would make coasters and flat rides with my LEGOs.
My Ferris Wheel and Scrambler was so fun to engineer.
I love gravity group, we need so many more of them
I completely agree, even if they are just the small family rides like oscar’s wacky taxi or kentucky flyer, they give a completely unique experience
Imagine if they started making bigger rides like the voyage again... that would be epic
vic jaxon I think they’re building a big one at SeaWorld Australia
I strongly agree. I love The Voyage!
Any way you could get a premier or B&M plant tour? That’d be awesome!
I'd love to tour them one day! I've been able to visit many others, but those are two that would be great to do videos on!
It would be amazing
The world needs more gravity group.
That story about testing restraints on kids was so cute and clever. You don’t want a kid wiggling out if a ride stops. They don’t understand or care about the block system.
Incredible work, this video is super-slick. Top guys at Gravity Group too.
"Last I checked, people aren't really built like squares."
Savage.
For a second I forgot I was watching a youtube coaster channel! Amazing production, felt like I was watching a tv documentary
_The Gaming Historian_ is another channel that does the same kind of quality editing and story continuity.
Your vids are amazing Taylor! Keep it up
I love this video! Specifically because The Voyage is my favorite woodie. Thanks for the video.
This is less of a factory tour and more of a documentary, this is great
The mental image of a bunch of engineers whooping it up because they defeated a small child is hilarious.
'Alright gang, time to engineer how to take candy from a baby.'
Finally got around to watching this, great job Taylor, the guys at the Gravity Group are fantastic and it is really great they gave you this access.
Your video skills are getting progressively better bro. Your editing is beginning to be top notch. Loved it.
Very inspiring for me. Great video!
New respect for Gravity Group! Well done! Now lets get one at KD or BG!!!
It would be awesome to see one at my home park one day!
Coney island in Cincinnati Ohio should get a new rollercoaster
Yeet a GCI, invadR is not enough for me, a gravity group, would be great for my home park
@BRISON HERMAN I agree but now there turning into a water park.
@BRISON HERMAN I'm not sure.
Really well done video
From Lego to the best wooden coaster company in the world.
Great video on my favorite manufacturer. That’s one tour I’d enjoy.
Wondering why these guys aren't building in Kings Island, the two sit right next to each other.
I know Gravity Group should have built Mystic Timbers
@@ArrowThrills Nah, I think GCI still would have the better layout, but it doesn't make sense why Gravity Group sits practically right next to Kings Island and KI hasn't bothered with them.
I always think these videos are really cool because when I get older I want to be a coaster engineer
That’s awesome, I’m studying for a mechanical engineering degree, and I think this would be the coolest job
Awesome!
Timberliner Trains are my favorite wooden coaster trains. They are so comfortable and could easily make some wooden coasters more comfortable, from the CCI's (looking AT YOU BOULDER DASH) to whatever they could work on. Not to mention working on inversions. They are way better than those kid-size built, leg breaking on hills RMC trains, and while GCI's Millenium Flyers are great, I'd actually say until the newest ones are tried out (seen at 2018 IAAPA) they got one up'ed.
Yay lost coaster was in there best coaster ever
Superb ! nothing more and nothing less!
4:24 so THAT'S what they used for the track on Mine Blower... That makes much more sense
I hope we can get more videos like this of what it's like being a coaster manufacturer.
Nice video. Would love to see more of these type of videos
Very professional take in this video, I really enjoyed learning more how about gravity group and the showcasing here was high quality. 👍
Amazing! More like this please :)
I ain't saying it's the best but Cú Chulainn is my favourite coaster
This kind of content is the best thing you do. Keep it up!
Did you see anything for the new coaster at SeaWorld Australia?
This was so cool.
Now I want one for RMC
would love to see a video about GCI or Gerstlauer. 2 of my favorite companies.
That said, this video was great, and made me appreciate gravity group a lot more
glad you enjoyed it! GCI would be tough, as the owner prefers to keep things under wraps and would be hard to convince to make this happen. Gerstlauer is based in Germany, which alone adds its own challenges. Its possible though, maybe one day!
Wait a minute. They're in Cincinnati and Cedar Fair went with GCI for Mystic? I mean, good work from either company, but with B&M just down the road, you could advertise as supporting local businesses even with your roller coasters.
Superb job on this, excellent video!
I want more! This is awesome!
Loved this. Guys passionate about what they do and the sector they work in.
Timberliners on twin racers! Have 2 cars race backwards and w forwards.
I just think they need to put those Timberliner trains on Ravine Flyer II, cause the current restraints are not comfortable at all.
Try to get a tour at the Intamin or the B&M factory and visit their factories in my country.
I would love to tour them one day! I've had the opportunity to tour many manufacturers factories, and even drive by the B&M plant in America, but Intamin and B&M are at the top of my list of factories I'd love to visit!
Brilliant work Taylor 👍🏻👍🏻
Australia’s SeaWorld is getting a gravity group woodie and you can ride backwards! 😃 can’t wait cuz Australia doesn’t really have that much coasters.
Can't wait for their new coaster coming to Seaworld Australia
looks to be an exciting one!
Same! Best wooden in Australia by far. Our only other wooden is a kinda fun but really bumpy 105 year old coaster haha
What happened to CCI did Gravity Group purchase CCI Custom Coasters International
CCI went under. After everyone got laid off, 4 of the guys from CCI (including Chad Miller and Mike Graham as seen in this video) then went and started Gravity Group
GG might be the most underrated coaster company right now. Love Gravity Group!!
_Ravine Flyer II_ is in my home park and I love it. The multiple air time is awesome! Night-time riding in total darkness is the best! The only complaint I have is it is just a smidgen too short and needed one more dip into the ravine or more than just a turnaround once it went over the road.
Next time you guys are in PA for Hershey or Knoebels you should try and get into GCI in Sunbury.
one of your best videos, thanks
I loved this!
Man, this brought me back to 8th grade, where I chose to not got to a science high school. I forgot what I wanted to be after that.
This is awesome Taylor! We never get to hear enough from the people who work so hard on these rides.
Great video, I love behind the scenes videos like this. Chad and Mike seem like great guys.
Gravity Group is based in cinci? Awesome!!!
I love gravity group!
i wanna like this video but the counter is at 420 and i don't wanna ruin that
Wait. Did Chad Miller quit Ohio Valley Coasters to work at Gravity Group?
Coney island in Cincinnati should get a gravity group wooden coaster because there's nothing there
What do you mean python is my favorite coaster, it's so unique. /s
@@xenite_ Absolutely the longest wait for the shortest line I have ever experienced. The only time I have witnessed ride ops taking pics of the riders (with multiple phones!) before sending, while the poor saps in the ECBR sit there. And this happened several times while I was in the line. Very different world at Coney than Six Flags or Cedar Fair.
Are you going to review Darien lake?
yes, eventually
Coaster Studios sweet, I’ll be looking forward to it, it’s my home park hehe
Attention Cedar Point: Vengeance is great and all, but you lack a world class pure wooden. Call Gravity Group.
Got my first ride on Voyage at Holiwood Nights this year, in the dark with no trim brakes, hands up whole ride. It was insane. Best ride ever!
Put new trains on the damn Voyage! The existing are awful, ruins the experience..
The park tried Timberliners on it, they didn't work. It turns out that Timberliners run much slower than PTC trains do.
Nice documentary Taylor!! Love your video's... Happy times in Japan!!!
I work for SeaWorld San Antonio, so I'm not allowed to say much, but that track/support design does look oddly familiar
I was thinking the same thing :)
Those trains are awesome!!!
You went to Europa Park for day 2 today last year! What do you prefer, Gravity Group or GCI?
It seems they really hit a niche with the smaller designs and while those are great, I'm still holding out hope that they'll build another gigantic one in the US again someday!
bruh
Great stuff!!
This is great!!!👌🏼
Fantastic video !!
Great video!!!!
Great video dude at my 1 of 3 homeparks is getting one of these rollercoasters.
Love things like this. Would love to see something on B&M.
Pretty good video - I think you're missing some audio though around 3 mins
not that its missing, there just wasn't any background noise for that shot- no one was talking, and it was very quiet.
What part of Virginia do you live in?
Amazing video, dude.
Props Taylor very good video
Where can I find a video of that title shot?
sorry, not sure what you mean! Can you clarify?
@@CoasterStudios The shot of Kentucky Flyer at 1:08
Gravity group just under gci
1:21 wow that track is small! Crazy that it can fit even one person!
r/facepalm
Iron Animations Can’t tell if you’re joking, but just in case, it’s a scaled down model
New Hakansson r/whoosh
Neo Håkansson r/wooosh :/
EGJacob13 yeah i was joking...
I’ve been a long time subscriber Coaster Studios!
Nice video Taylor!
The Timberliners are meant to keep rides smooth, yet the timberliners are infamous for the way the way they shuffle throughout the ride, which can be quite rough on larger coasters.
Thank you for the diversity in your content. I really enjoyed this!
Great Job Taylor, Thank you!
Awesome! I rode American Eagle, wasn’t a Gravity Group or GCI, but it wasn’t that great. Probably because it was an Arrow.... hm. Great video though, Taylor! Keep up the quality stuff!
actually, the American eagle is an Intamin just like V2 is believe it or not.
I would like to see how Viper would be with TImberliner Trains, assuming there wouldn't be a weight issue or anything like that. Honestly I don't think it's a rough ride but it is more than most are willing to deal with. However it's going to have a new open coaster right next to it soon and it could become much more popular again if it had this kind of comfortable seating.
I wouldn't touch American Eagle on the other hand, it has breaks right in any place that'd it'd get too rough or jerky, and that back area helix is going to be hit and miss with people, but I like cool unique elements, and the rest is fun out and back, which something a lot take for granted as more get taken down or RMCed. I'm glad they built Goliath and left these other two alone in all honesty, I enjoy Goliath but it's a totally different breed from even GCI (or CCI, gravity group) or older wooden coasters.
@@oneandonlysound3453 I would love to see those timberliner trains on the American eagle with an eagle as the lead cars now that would be a great awesome plus I would like to see it get re-tracked and have magnetic brakes as well too I know that's a lot of money and but I think it's worth it, I still ride the American eagle one or two times when both sides are open but she is need of some TLC I mean great America has a great coaster line up why muck it up when you have a ground-up RMC, to begin with, I would rather see an RMC raptor go where Buccaneer Battles is and it would be moved into waterpark so that would be two rmcs one wood and one steel sure it would be a clone of railblazer but it's worth it and the GP would love it too if there is one park to get the RMC conversion it would be the Boss at six flags St. Louis it makes sense really.
Ok you kinda sold me on the American eagle idea, though the idea of viper snake cars for "Viper" is now in my mind. The thing is people clearly do really like American Eagle, or it wouldn't get the lines it does. Question-does it break down a lot? Anytime I've visited (it's not my local) it seems too, and they just switch sides or it's open again in an hour. I don't think a raptor would be a good idea though right now, as the park brings in the crowds enough, wait until they can do 2 accross. RMC Conversions...not sure how I'd feel about them doing the boss, but I suspect they might do Predator for Darien Lake soon. @@marcussorenson3380
@@oneandonlysound3453 yeah I like the viper snake themed car Idea as well too I think back in 2017 it was racing but when I when there (since it's my local park and I live in Wisconsin) they did run red side but not blue so to answer that question not sure at least when I was there than it does run if they can get both sides running but you do have a good point but I wonder if those timber liners trains will make it over that hill to the helix hades360 had to lower their hill.
Great work on Kentucky Flyer! Can't wait to ride it with my 6 year old nephew some point this year
