    Your fence is really coming along, Jason. So glad you had Ben's tractor with the auger to do the poles. They look great. Making that roof for your water collection do double duty as a shelter for the picnic table was a stroke of genius. Dinner and desert made me hungry it looked so good. Thanks for sharing this day. Y'all have a Blessed weekend.

    It is fantastic to see Penelope use power tools and help set fence poles, guaranteeing she will not just be a pretty face, but a well-rounded, self-reliant young lady, following in her Mother's footsteps.
    10/10 parenting skills.
    That picnic shot at the end . . . bucolic paradise.

    I watched Pete over at Just A Few Acres Farm - and he was repairing fence. He said one of the biggest mistakes he made was the amount of money he spent on fencing ... for cattle. Now you have animals other than cattle... so I don't know how much it matters, but Pete said he would stick to the 3-wire live fencing for his cattle if he had it to do all over again. It's the recent one where he's talking about chores on the farm... not the ones where he is rebuilding/refurbishing his Farmall. It didn't seem to make much sense to me except that I've been told that cattle eventually grow accustomed to that 3-wire fence. Pete was saying it doesn't matter how sturdy you build it, cattle can knock it down or destroy it pretty easily. For whatever that's worth. I enjoy watching you develop your property there and I thank you for sharing the journey with us.

    I am so jealous of your physical ability. I'm OLD now, and finding it harder and harder to do what needs to be done around the property. I need fencing, among other things and my husband is in poor health and can't help me. TREASURE your physical ability and don't waste it, like I did.

    Hi Jason, I have had really great success with adding bungee cords to the top of the fence around the posts every 50’ when working by myself with the full run of 330’ This has made it possible to get good tension. Cheers! Happy Fencing…. The other F word.

  • @disappearingoffgridfreshst5339
    @disappearingoffgridfreshst5339 5 месяцев назад +2

    Just so you know when running long distance of fencing by yourself try using a nail to the top of the post and running a short bungee cord or string to hold up the fence while you stretch it out to tighten up the tension.
    Sincerely:
    John

    Never knew watching you figuring out fencing would be so gripping. Looks great and straight and will do the job well for your larger animals.
    I’ve always wanted a higgledy-piggledy fence myself. Ever since visiting a farm my great grandparents once lived at when they moved to Devon after the war. They were beautiful fences that looked as though an underground tsunami had washed through and lifted and lowered the posts with the rails at angles. It looked a wobbly work of art but was probably someone just making do with what they had. The house was crooked too so who knows. 😊

    Lol except for one calf. It kept sticking her nose to it 3× , then around and stuck her butt to it about 3× . Almost like " does it hurt this way , yap , does it hurt this way yap it still does.😅

    Jason do the wire fence all the way around it will stop most predators and dogs and run the high tencal fence on the top and make it hot nothing will come over it then
