Hi ive just subscribed to your channel, i love your videos, i like how you show when things dont work out because thats what i experience where i live and in my small garden, i see too many videos on youtube where everything works out perfectly , where diy projects are made to look so easy and when i attempt it, its trial and error, mostly error until it works out finally after many days, its good to see some reality, i like how truthful you are and i really like your videos, hello from Australia.
Tough to watch. We all want you to succeed in this endeavor. Could you approach the lavender farmer as mentioned above? If he mentions one thing that helps it’s worth it. Best of luck.
I’m in the Ozarks - all rocks and clay. Maybe a different crop? I know I can’t grow lavender. I struggle with roses, but with soil amendments and correct rose…it’s coming along. My vegetable/herb garden is raised beds - I control the growing environment.
Did you ever consider asking a agricultural county extension agent to test your soil and make recommendations on what grow or what to add to the soil to grow things you really need =) Just a FYI =)
I hope you don't give up. It definitely sounds like a rough situation but you've got acreage, so you should be able to make something happen. Maybe have a brainstorming session and see what ideas you and the family can come up with. I have no experience with critters other than chickens but I do know cattle, sheep, goats and pigs all do fine in your area. Maybe you could start a nursery and sell seedlings locally or even online. Good luck.
You know, your the second person that has said that, We will have to look into it, I’m thinking it’s going to need significant infrastructure. Thanks for your input my friend.
@@ozarkshomesteadandfarm No problem. Here’s what I did with the pigs. I got 4 pig panels and built a little pen and on the inside i ran electric wire to train them, it only took a couple days for them to learn. Where I planned to grow, I ran 2 strands of electric wire and put the pigs in. They do an amazing job tilling the soil and fertilizing. Let chickens run in there as well. Not expensive to do, although get a good charger for the wire.
Try using a solution of hydrogen peroxide and water. It does a multitude of things, gets rid of bacteria and fungus also adds oxygen to your roots. I have saved so many plants with this. Good luck

What were your 'plans", Sir? What is the cold tolerance of lavender? Pretty plants, it is a shame the cold and damp hit them so hard.

Thanks for the encouragement, definitely not giving up!
Have you ever thought about doing a flower farm
I’m in the ozarks to. My advice is to run animals on where you plan to grow your crops. I use pigs and chickens and it’s made my gardens grow huge.

Yeah, we miss our friends but love the Ozarks!

Appreciate the advice….foliar? Or pour on soil?
I’d try talking with the successful lavender gardeners. If they can do it you can too - or just give up and blame it on the Ozarks
I’m loving the Ozarks and it’s not it’s fault that I’m trying to grow Mediterranean crops here….lol….sometimes it’s just disappointing.
Ouch!
