You might want to try enrolling in college classes to get your information from a well educated properly informedgrammatically, correct professor thanks for the comment and the view.

    Throwing away the excess water is throwing away nutrients and probiotics. Just throw the excess water in another bucket of grains. Don't di more than once or twice otherwise it will go off. As a treat, you can toss it into cooled cooked rice or pasta. Or, simply, leave it in. I understand that you don't realise it, but you are losing a lot of nutrients and probiotics by throwing away the water, defeating the whole point of this process. Just put in less water.

    Creating a self-sustaining living soil with a rich biodiversity of beneficial microbes is a fantastic goal! Here's a step-by-step guide to help you achieve this: ### 1. **Start with a Good Base** - **Soil Composition**: Use a mix of high-quality compost, aged manure, and native soil. This provides a variety of nutrients and organic matter. - **Aeration**: Add materials like perlite, vermiculite, or pumice to improve soil structure and aeration. ### 2. **Add Organic Matter** - **Compost**: Regularly add compost to your soil. This not only provides nutrients but also introduces beneficial microbes. - **Mulch**: Use organic mulch (like straw, leaves, or wood chips) to retain moisture, regulate temperature, and slowly decompose, adding organic matter to the soil. ### 3. **Introduce Beneficial Microbes** - **Compost Tea**: Brew and apply compost tea to introduce a diverse range of microbes. - **Mycorrhizal Fungi**: These fungi form symbiotic relationships with plant roots, enhancing nutrient uptake. - **Biochar**: Adding biochar can provide a habitat for microbes and improve soil fertility. ### 4. **Promote Biodiversity** - **Plant Diversity**: Grow a variety of plants to support different microbial communities. Include cover crops, legumes, and deep-rooted plants. - **Crop Rotation**: Rotate crops to prevent soil depletion and reduce pest and disease buildup. ### 5. **Maintain Soil Health** - **Avoid Chemicals**: Minimize the use of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides, as they can harm beneficial microbes. - **Watering**: Use rainwater or dechlorinated water to avoid killing microbes. Water deeply but infrequently to encourage deep root growth. ### 6. **Monitor and Adjust** - **Soil Testing**: Regularly test your soil to monitor nutrient levels and microbial activity. - **Adjust Practices**: Based on soil tests, adjust your practices to maintain a balanced ecosystem. ### 7. **Encourage Natural Processes** - **Earthworms and Insects**: Encourage earthworms and beneficial insects, which help decompose organic matter and aerate the soil. - **Natural Fertilizers**: Use natural fertilizers like fish emulsion, seaweed extract, and bone meal to provide nutrients without harming microbes. By following these steps, you can create a thriving, self-sustaining living soil that supports a diverse range of beneficial microbes and is beneficial for all plants¹²³. Do you have any specific plants in mind that you want to grow in this soil? I have been just wetting lay pellets and feed same day by just covering with water of whatever amount. My chickens are eating way better and better egg production and quality. They are getting a nice balanced meal and no waste. They also seem to require less water even tho i always have 4 sources during summer. It's an amazing difference. If you fluff it up later in day they devoir it! My chicken are very spoiled and picky, Ha!

    Hi, thanks so much for this very, very clear, and easy to follow explanation!! But please help me figure out how many buckets you would suggest for feeding this fermented feed for 7 chickens, daily? Thanks.

  • @troyandrus982
    @troyandrus982 Месяц назад

    Fermentation is good for the nutrient value. But all feed values are based on a dry matter basis. So the only value you’re gaining is your chickens are more hydrated. You’re not actually feeding less than you could have without all the hassle of fermentation.

    The one bucket method is so much easier. Start out with a 5 gallon food grade bucket if you have a lot of chickens. Get it fermented, takes about three days. Feed it to your chickens, when the bucket starts getting low add in your feed and your water again, and it will ferment overnight because it already has the fermented stuff there to give it a kickstart. Then just keep doing that. You can keep a bucket going for months on end. Couple times a year I completely empty out the bucket rinse it out and start over but you can keep it going basically forever if you want to. You don’t need three buckets. This is a huge waste of time and effort. The one bucket method is the way to go. I’ve been doing it for years. The main thing is to stir it well once a day.

    Very informative and great recipe! However, consider making the hole smaller. Bees like sweets as well and that size hole the bees can fit in. I would recommend making the hole smaller so that beneficial insects such as bees are not harmed.

    I will try your method. My recipe has not worked that I can tell a difference on my big lot- I have big ones, little ones, Black ones & reddish brown ones- everywhere. Cannot stand in one spot long for they crawl up my shoes and bite me. I have been using apple juice & bits of waffle with borax in bottles or soda cans placed on their side UNDER pots with a brick ontop. I see ants in and around the bait. My dog is small and not outside much so not too worried about that. Borax is reported to be toxic to all insects at any dose- but it is bitter and the trick is getting them to take it to the nest and share it with their friends. Also, making the liquid too sweet will attract bees which I do not wanna do- I will use molasses or jam in place of Honey for that reason. Also using the apple juice method grows mold pretty quick so I have to start over- and I set up like 14 stations around our home outside. Waffle is reported to be more attractive for the baby ants. The Extension service in my area said Grits, Crm of Wheat etc serves at food not poison(?).
