39:33 - Just to mess with him, I would have promoted to a knight instead of a queen. Then his only move is to promote his own pawn. He cant check you because it's blocked by the pawn on C3. Then you move your knight to D7 for a beautiful checkmate!
Yeah, and if he had an extra minute or more, that's easy. As it was, finding and executing the quick and obvious mate makes sense in time trouble. It's not like a simple mate X vs. a simple mate Y is meaninfully different when both mates are trivially obvious.
It's funny how things change. My parents would check to be sure it wasn't serious (lots of blood, broken bone, etc). As SURE as they were sure it wasn't serious, then it was often punishment for being careless or stupid or bad or whatever. This was in the 60's to 70's when I grew up. I think to depression era parents, they figured tough parenting and lots of discipline and high expectations made kids tougher and better prepared for life. I think it depends on the emotional make-up of the child, which is hard for a non-expert to accurately figure out (especially back then since confessing weakness or unhappiness or fear or nonconformity was often a way to get into trouble, where today it would more likely be met by attempts at nurturing for a well behaved kid. Not saying one or the other is "better" -- just that things are rather different from what I observe through friends and family and child raising.

In the last endgame I kept expecting black to push b5 and create a passed pawn for himself that should queen right after the white pawn promotes. Wouldn't that make whites life far more difficult? But black waited too long and played b5 only when it was too late.
Excellent teaching moment with the rooks in game one (cutting off the king and the ?Lucnenda?). Very valuable. I’ve never had that shown to me so clearly. Hope I remember it LOL. Thx Nelson.
In that first game I wouldn't have threatened the knight with the pawn but instead pinned it with the bishop. Could someone tell me why that's not a good move?
Respectfully, when asking such questions after a video with multiple games, it's much better to give a timestamp, or at least describe which knight is attacked by which pawn to save someone time finding the spot. I quickly found the spot at time 1:20 where white's king knight is attacked by b4, so I assume that's what you're talking about. To me, ... B-b4 pinning the knight there is an OK move, but not great. It takes a move to move the bishop to a meh square, and the knight isn't in meaningful danger, or is the pawn structure if black takes it with the bishop. So you could do that but I think there are several better moves like B-e7, B-b7, b4, etc. I was a decent player in the OTB tourney days, like the mid-90's, a 1900ish player for years. Best by far in the endgame, so not claiming to be an expert or anything -- just trying to answer your question with reasonable judgement, re thinking level in a 10 minute game.
He analyzed that later and it's not AT ALL obvious to me. Respectfully, if you're going to suggest that, far better to mention the specific sequence which you believe would trap the queen, so it can be analyzed or thought about, re answering such a question. It WOULD be positionally WORSE, which he mentioned post game when he briefly analyzed that.

Bishop works too!
NM getting out prepped in the opening is pretty wild. I guess nowadays the internet has made studying chess much easier.
Is there a way to show the eval bar when reviewing your games? Very interesting games BTW.
Simplest and most economical explanation of the lucena position ever. Thank you.
I think you forgot to update the wins, you are at 206 now
4:10 no no no . Go for Double queen !!!!!

Dear Nelson, please play the Rousseau gambit. It's very tricky opening. I would love to see how you play it.

At the end of last game why didn’t you go c4 to prevent b5? They could never pass by at that point.

18:52 why don't you put elo bar for the viewers?
Brilliant tutor. Thank you Nelson
Missed another one. Hopefully you feel better.

In last game opponent could play in pawn ending b5 much earlier which leads to a queen ending which is difficult to win having 20 seconds on the clock
I thought that and couldn't tell why he didn't play c4 to stop any counterplay what so ever
It u get a queen on 3:53 would u queen not be trapped

This isn't part of the playlist on the channel
I could be wrong, but I swear I saw a possible tactic around the 37 minute mark with Rd1
Time stamp it and share it! (To time stamp, type in minutes:seconds, like 37:00.)
What do I need to do to get a game against you 😩
That first game was classic
Yayyyyy
thanks
finally reached 1800 after being 2000
Rice cooker gambit!
Didn't Magnus lose a game in a Rice Cooker Declined by resigning on move 1? It must be strong!
Thanks for the content, non-chess related. I hate chair mats, spend 15-20 bucks and
