Literally went from being stuck at 600 to 900 in two weeks of binge watching your rank climb videos. You're simply the best at explaining, and do it with no arrogance - humble as one can be. Big respect to you, Nelson!
This is why I love watching Nelson: “What I’m trying to do is this; force the king back so that the rook is out of the game”. Something I wouldn’t have thought of, but may in the future. He’s simply a good teacher.
Biggest gap change in ELO answer: I saw Mario Spinosa (a 1272 club player) beat Ove Kroll Danish 2300+ master OTB weekend Swiss. For some reason, my board was next to them, so ringside seat. Kroll lost because he refused to repeat moves in an obviously drawn position. Mario went from 1272 to 1900 when the ratings became unstuck (the 1977-1979 no updated ratings period).
Nelson! I was 400 two weeks ago, but then I started watching your videos and I kid you not, I'm 1020 now. The way you explain the tactics makes it so easier to remember when I'm playing a game... you're a great great teacher and chess player!
@21:28 - the idea I was playing with after 1. g4 was 1... Nxd5 with the idea being 2... Qh5+. I don't think it quite works either but the dark-squared bishop is putting White in a a lot of pain and if he captured the knight, you've got Bxg5+ as a followup with a possibility of capturing the rook or completely tying up the defense and if he captured the bishop, you've got Nxc5+ and Rd1 is going to cause some problems for him. Hard to calculate in realtime.
I'm watching this in March 2024 and I'm only 400 ELO. Yet I'm learning so much from these advanced videos. I actually made the leap from 200 to 400 ELO thanks to this series - without having studied any openings whatsoever! Thank you Nelson 😊
At 4:39 Nh5 looks like a strong move as hxg4 Ng3 traps the queen (and also forks Q and R). Bf5 looks like a scary attack from white as black gets pushed black.
1777 OTB officially 2020 postal, but that is after I resigned 44 games at once (exhaustion/chess blind). So probably master-level there (in the 1980s, before strong engines). My chess computer code, named Piranha, won the first (and only) microcomputer postal tournament, by holding a draw against a cheater (human making the moves), trying to use the horizon effect. I used Monte Carlo methods (3000 complete games at 4-6 ply per move) on a 6502 48K machine, using a floppy to keep track of the analysis. Wish I had those games, but 2 dollar power supply fried the $2500 computer.
Hey Nelson. In this video at 1:10:30 seconds. Watch your opponents clock glitch almost 10 seconds. 🤔 right after you say “I guess this opponent doesn’t want to finish this game”
These players get their elo back anyway, at the end of the day this is so people can learn not for any other reason, so I suppose discussing isn’t really that bad especially when he isn’t gaining anything from it

Daniel Naroditsky is another excellent one

How you doing now?

Quite rather yes

Looking healthy Nelson, keep up your strength, stay sharp!
4:45 Here, I was looking at the move Knight to h5. Looks good as, if they take your bishop, you can move your knight to g3 and they’re in big trouble.

You have helped my chess game more than I could ever explain with words! Thank you!!!

Same! I credit Nelson for all my chess wins now haha. He is a great teacher
hello buddy my rating was 850 but after watching your rating climb videos today i am at 1109, thank you
I kinda keep watching your videos instead of playing chess myself.

Nge2 cover g3 and Bg4 still under attack
@@Paragelmen For that case, Black can play Bxe2.
But then Nxe2 makes it fine for white hshs... so yeah, Nh5 somehow is a weak idea
I'VE BEEN WANTING TO MENTION THAT I FIND YOUR STUDIO BACKGROUND A SHARP IMPROVEMENT NELSON,. ROCK ON BUDDY! .. MIKE.
Very well explained thankyou.
You seemed like you’ve healed a lot. Great to see

Thought u would lose the first
Never count Nelson out
He should have. He did not play it all that well for being an NM.

It hapens sometimes because of bad connection
Been looking forward to this!
Been waiting for this 😊
1:24 You could trap the Queen with Bishop g4 right?
Ne2 is an answer
Bro is 200 Elo
@21:51 , you’re lucky white didn’t just capture the bishop hanging on g3.
It wasn't hanging. The knight was pinned
Ah yes.
You missed a win at 59:00
We have all been there…make the wrong move game over! Good recovery Nelson!
26:17 i mean you could have ignored the move and gave them another chance or something. You could have castled or something
I agree
Herbs can help against gout too. In German giersch in Englisch ground elter or better goutweed, there is it in the name of the plant
When in doubt, sack a piece. - Nelson
“En Passant buddy” love that 🤣
What does it mean when you say your opponent is just trying to flag you.
It means that the opponent is trying to make you lose on time
If anyone wants to watch my ratings climb, I started at 500 and after 10 grueling weeks and playing 10 games every day, I am now a 374.
maybe add 5 pushups between games??
thx nelson
got from 900 to 1550 in two months because of your help❤❤🤩🤩
that's not fair. you didn't say stay sharp!
We got the rare "Have a good night" instead. Which, if ya thinking about it, a good night's rest is worth at least a one pawn advantage.
another speedrun opponents go brrrr!
sorry wasnt here most of the time, was a fun few games though!
I'm rated 1640 and this video is great for me

Did you take the Covid vaccine?
Your game is improving with your health. Your level of game dropped after your health dropped can see the improvement.
These 1600 guys don't seem to know common openings...
Correct me if Im wrong but getting ideas from chat - is that not cheating ??
These players get their elo back anyway, at the end of the day this is so people can learn not for any other reason, so I suppose discussing isn’t really that bad especially when he isn’t gaining anything from it
I had the same thought. But I guess in this instance it's more about Nelson teaching the chat than chat being able to teach Nelson.
Guessing most of his chat isn't 2200++
The games are for educational purposes only
Lol your game with abdulqahhor more like a 300 rating 😂
I have a weird feeling that he might just surprise people so they lose. I don't know to explain that elo rating or Very good at tatics
