    you've inspired me to turn to a raw food lifestyle,! however, i am 16 and i was wondering if you thought it would not be ideal to start this young. i am prepared to start immediately and change to the raw food diet overnight but i don't know if there is any cautions to starting this young. please let me know if you have any tips or advice for me, love your channel by the way! :)

      Hi Alicia, I'm so glad I've inspired you 😊 if you eat a raw vegan diet rich in whole, organic (if possible) fruits, vegetables, and healthy fats like avocado and soaked nuts and seeds and practice food combining (I've got a video on that) then there will be no issues with starting it at your age. I wish I had began eating this way at such a young age! Hope that helps! xo

    Tropical soils are actually not rich at all because the rain leeches the minerals out... the only reason the native plants there do so well is because the fallen plant material readily replaces the nutrients the plants take up... just wanted to mention that :-) I do not eat a whole lot of salad or leafy greens and I haven’t eaten much over the past 5 years of being vegan (I was raw for the first 5 months but went to cooked) and I don’t have (nor have I ever had since becoming vegan) any nutrient deficiency-I’ve had my blood drawn to check

    • @sarahbear4848
      @sarahbear4848 4 года назад +1

      I just want to mention though that I have always eaten organic and mostly Whole Foods.. sometimes I have fruit/vegetable juice or vegan/organic cupcakes, muffins, bagels, bread, etc but I think if your diet is leaning on the vast majority being whole fruit and vegetable grown sustainably and organically, it doesn’t seem, based on my experience, that you would be deficient in minerals. I do eat leafy greens sometimes but it’s honestly probably only once a month as a meal (cooked) and any raw leaves I get are in sandwiches, on pizza, etc. with all that being said, I do plan on switching to a raw plant based diet, incorporating native foods of my region and there are some herbs and herbaceous plants here that I would love to make into salads

    • @OliviaBudgen
      @OliviaBudgen  6 лет назад +6

      You can drink herbal teas and make raw soups (but blend them a little longer to create a warmer temperature). Watch my pumpkin soup recipe video for an example. Make juices with turmeric and ginger to create warmth in the body. I hope that helps. When there's a will, there's a way :)

    I wish I can eat a raw vegan diet but I get bloated whenever I eat raw veggies :/

    • @OliviaBudgen
      @OliviaBudgen  6 лет назад +8

      That's why eating a diet based on fresh whole, high water content fruit is super important 😌 they are the best for digestion. Raw veggies like dense leafy greens, broccoli, cabbage etc will definitely cause bloating in most people. If you truly want to live a raw food lifestyle you can make it work 😊 focus on ripe fresh fruit, practice food combining, and juice or blend the ingredients that make you feel bloated (or simply eliminate them).

    • @growindoors365

      adding more tumeric in ur diet help A LOT for bloating

    • @bethanyday3471
      @bethanyday3471 5 лет назад +1

      ofcourse you do. it's because you gut/intestines don't have the correct bacteria/parasites/enzymes to digest them. especially if you are coming from a S.A.D diet (standard american diet) or a S.A.V.D diet (standard american vegan diet). You have to start introducing them slowly and letting the correct bacteria grow in your intestines and you will stop getting bloated so long as you continually, and consistently keep eating the raw foods. That is the only way you will stop getting bloated from eating raw vegg. Same thing with beans and legumes. Start with lightly cooking them, a quick 2-5 min sautee, a 2-5 min steam, then cook only half of them, so on and so forth. You will never grow the correct bacteria your gut needs if you don't start eating the right foods.

    I’m watching all your videos... Olivia I’m so interested... but I’d live to keep a few steamed food like veggies and sweet potatoes... and potatoes and legumes occasionally ... do you think you could help? My major problem is digestion and availability of quality fruit 😔😔😔😢🇦🇺 if I was in Australia.

    • @OliviaBudgen
      @OliviaBudgen  3 года назад +1

      Of course you can keep in so,e steamed veggies and starches 😃 they are very healthy! 🍠🥔🥦🥕 Just eat the best quality fruit you can get, then balance it out with plain cooked veggies and leafy greens ☺️ you can only do the best with what is available to you 😊 make sure you practice good food combining, and follow the Medical Medium’s guidelines for healing the gut 🙏🏻
