I love how you both stopped to listen to the wind. It was a moment you both shared together in sweet contemplation. I too, live in gratitude. I've been in pain 24/7 for over 23 years now and if I didn't wake up counting my blessings... Thank you both for being a part of my peaceful moments. Sending loving thoughts to everyone.

I often notice how much he loves her. It’s so obvious. So nice to see.
I had a wonderful husband like that and he’s been gone 10 years now. I was 45 at the time. I tell ya, you sure do notice little things. I often sit and eat the salad bar at the grocery store here and you can sit and look out the window and enjoy your lunch. I often notice older folks still holding hands, as they walk in… it’s nice to see.

Amen ma’am I’m 60 years old this month and my parents died in their mid and late 60’s and I think they were young and had a lot more life to live until they got sick but I thank the Lord for allowing me to have them as long as I did . And every year that I get older I thank God for every single day of my life no matter how many years, months or days that he gives me . I hear some people complain about the gray in their hair but I always tell them that I thank God for every one of mine .

As a tree worker on break one day, I helped an 86-year-old lady with a scooter and an ankle brace take brown bags of lawn clutter to the curb. Long story short, she said she was doing the work that we were doing that day. She explained to me two weeks previous, that she got on a step ladder and cut her neighbors low hanging branch off for her with a f%£#¥£g chainsaw. 86 years old. Never use a chainsaw to cut the low hanging limbs, as a former tree worker, (never got qualified to be an arborist) that is a super dangerous!!!!!

You both should try southern cucumber sandwiches. Recipe: Slice a ripe but young cucumber, and slice some onion. Place both in a mason jar with salt and pepper to taste. Cover with white, distilled vinegar. Leave overnight in refrigerator. When you’re ready for a sandwich, butter two slices of your favorite whole grain bread. Line with sliced cucumbers and onions from the mason jar. Eat as is or top with any other fresh garden veggie (aka tomatoes, Matt). Every time I eat sliced cucumbers, I think of my mother and her southern cucumber sandwiches. (And we’re all the same “level”) Thank you both for the glimpses of beautiful Appalachia.
    Blessings.

What is wrong with eating cucumber sandwiches? They are delicious as are tomato sandwiches. Like Tipper, I, too, am mostly Scottish. Also Irish and English. Eating cucumber sandwiches is not a class thing, but a cultural thing. My family also always stuffed a chicken or turkey with Scottish dressing made with kidney suet, oats and onions.

The neighborhood where my dad’s side of the family lived was mostly filled with relatives. It was a wonderful way to grow up. Most of relatives are gone now, but the streets are still named after them. There was always something going on. Aunt Mildred let us make homemade pie crust and play dough. Uncle Oscar taught me all the names of the trees, flowers and birds. Aunt Lila made cookies and told stories. Uncle Jerry fixed clocks and Uncle Britt played us music. Grandma babysat us and taught me to sew and do embroidery. There was usually someone to amuse you or cousins to play games with you. Thank you sharing your lives with us. You feel like neighbors just next door.🤣. I wish the world could just slow down and talk like this together. Maybe we would understand each other better and love each other more. God bless.❤️

About the finger. Good chance it's Dupuytren's contracture, a condition in which one or more fingers become permanently bent in a flexed position. The cause is unknown but is believed to be genetic to some extent. To learn more, just search Dupuytren's contracture.

I felt like you two were sitting on my porch just visiting and catching up with each other. Thank you for that. Most of my family lives away or are in Heaven…so your family has become mine. Your wisdom and faith in Our Lord brightens my days. You all are
    so precious.

Because of Blake & Karley calling my Mother & Step father Nannie & Gramps, me & Mama's side who were raised up there started calling them that & I still call Mama Nannie. My Step father's passed on. I've found a lot of things we've done all my life is definitely passed down from my Appalachian Ancestors!
    I'm a home body, too!
I could listen to ya'll talk all night. I love any video you make!!

My husband had a bucket list of places he wanted to travel. I have never had a bucket list because I’ve always been happy with what I have done and where I have been. It’s so nice not to long for something but instead be happy with what we have and who we are. Such a blessing!

You are such a humble couple. You are far from being boring. The simple life in the country is the best life there is. I agree with you Matt. Not getting on a plane. If you come to the beach in NC, look me up. I'm on bogue banks south of Cape Lookout. There are 7 lighthouses here. Some you can climb to the top. Cucumber sandwiches are wonderful. Can't wait for part two

Speaking of Matt's finger... we have a trait on my mom's side of the family that the pinky finger is much shorter and tapered on the end of it than the other hand. Usually the left pinky finger. We call it the "Curnew" finger because the first known relative that had it was a "Curnew".
Thank you for answering everyone's questions! You all are wonderful. You feel like family to me. 💜

Really enjoyed this Q & A, Tipper. Matt's such a mess, and I love that he's gotten more and more comfortable with the camera, because he's got a lot to contribute. I was impressed once again with the good-humored give-and-take of your relationship. It's obvious you love and respect one another. I hope younger folks watch your chats and take heed. BTW, I'm going to blame it on Matt that when I went to the store recently determined not to get any junk food, out of habit I looked at the Little Debbie's display. There were those peanut butter cookies he raved about awhile back. I just had to try them, and although good with a glass of milk, they were extremely sweet. Learned later that one cookie was supposed to be three servings, lol! God bless you both for the positive, common sense values you express on your channel. You're such a joy to spend time with.

I could listen to you two for hours. You just needed your popsicles. The wind sounded so soothing, I would love to have some of that up here in PA - it has been so hot and humid here. I just found out that most of Pennsylvania is considered to be in the Appalachian Cultural Region - my home is at the foot of the range, on a beautiful ridge. That explains how a lot of the things you talk about are familiar to me. I’m glad you mentioned gratitude - with the world the way it is now, gratitude and faith are the most important tools to live a contented life. Sending you all love and blessings❤

The hand condition may be Dupuytren's contracture. I have that condition on both hands. It is said that it is passed down from the Vikings. I’ve had the surgery and it didn’t last. I grew up in Mo. but vocabulary is almost the same as I remember as a kid.

I really enjoyed this Q&A. The part of being grateful really hits home to me. You can see and feel that your whole family is grateful for everything. You're living that life. Loving the Lord is all part of it. Grateful for the simplest things in life. Never taking anything for granted! All this is therapy for me. A good "sigh" from me.
Thank you, Matt and Tipper, for sharing your life.

I think Matt should consider a channel (or large portion of some of your posts) for showing off his inventory of skills, such as work ethic, maintenance of his world, faith, mentoring. His voice, and men like him, are voices we need to hear from; especially for young people (many young men are rudderless in our world.) Thank you and Bless you all for what you dol.

Tipper try making a cucumber & cream cheese sandwich. Just slice them real thing & stack them about 4 slices high. Put the cream cheese on both sides of the bread. Ohhhh it’s so good. You can use salt & pepper. I love them. 😊 😋

Amen to being grateful. When people complain I always tell them to visit a children's hospital. It will open your eyes. I can always be content and grateful as long as my family is healthy. God has blessed me greatly. God is good!
