I have the LP version of this antenna and found that, on 40M band at least, the SWR is lower if the box is closer to the ground. Dave Cassler found this also.
I think I have an answer for your heat problem on your end fed antenna measure your antenna and find a piece of PVC that it will fit into comfortably drill cut and slot as needed for wires insert the box mounted and the white surface will help keep it cooler and keep the rain and moisture off of it K04ZCJ.
