Cheers my fellow Discus owner! Thats great you got to meet the orignal owner! I got in contact with a grandson and great grandson of one of the early owners of SDOC from in Scotland. They sent me some great pictures from the early 80s with SDOC sporting one of the same spinnakers I use to this day! Cheers.
An episode with a lot of variable sailing. I guess one of the major downsides to a sail boat-- no wind ,no sailing. Hope the remainder of your south bound journey goes well.
Ahoy! I got a liability only policy through Dolphin Insurance based out of Vancouver. Many marinas will indeed ask for proof of at least liability insurance. Once in Mexico, you will always need liability insurance to stay at a marina, and to enter the country. You can get coverage through Mexican insurance companies for cheap and some say you must have liability insurance through a Mexico provider. Hope this helps! Cheers from La Paz!

It was indeed a challenging stretch. We certainly appreciated the regular visits from dolphins to keep our spirits up!
I have no idea what the flower was, but you’re really making me miss SoCal
SoCal awaits you! You'll love sailing down here :)
You'll like the islands. Somewhere around here the US military might start playing with you. For training.
