    Loved this walk-through - and while it seems like you might conclude, “When mixing jazz, don’t do much,” clearly the answer here is first to understand the genre, and second, choose and place mics well. Sounds great!

    No criticisms from me. I would like to add a comment about a trick I used when recording jazz at a renowned jazz university.
    To control bleed, I would use 3-4 condensor pairs, but consider 1/2 of each pair as the far mic for nearby instruments. Ex: Position a drum mic to capture a few DBs of room piano.
    I was able to please even the finicky faculty. BTW, the Audix mic is loved by conga players.
    Top notch vid, and the shirt is quite flattering.

    Great tutorial and amazing musicianship, but I think jazz bands have been playing the same jazz song for 70 years, this style all sounds the same to me :)
