A 3 run HR is only a rally killer if you're down by 5 or more runs in my opinion. If a 3 run bomb puts you within a Run or less who tf would rather have small ball?!
Think Hoskins bomb in game 3 was a rally killer? Nope Harper followed right after. Even if he didnt you take the guarenteed 3 runs every time. Cant believe this is even being talked about.
There is a lot of talent in getting the bat to the ball and fighting off pitches you got fooled on. But it is pure luck the actual results are hits. The bat control is talent, the hit is not. Odds on most of these are higher that they are outs or foul balls or another result than a hit. Home runs win championships against elite pitching in October. We see run reliance on HR increase in postseason basically every year, and its been true for a long time, not just in the analytics era.
Home runs win against great pitching. Small ball teams have good bat control, but you can't rely on consistent luck to make those balls fall for hits. Especially as the pitching gets more battle tested throughout the playoffs. All 4 remaining teams are HR first teams. They are all capable of putting together rallies and hitting guys in to various degrees, but they are all built around the long ball.
Small ball rallies are such a beautiful thing.
D Ro and Billy Rip are great together at the big board. Love their breakdowns.

You can say small ball wins games all you want, fact is that the teams that win ws hit home runs, thats been the case for many years now
great break down of a big part of this postseason.
"A three run HR can be a bit of a rally killer." They lost me in the first 10 seconds of the video.
It’s true because it wipes the pitchers slate clean. A double is better than a bomb n rallies
@@1BITW1 As a Guardians fan, I would love a rally killing 3 Run HR today

small ball is like defense in football, it wins championships

Situational Hitting wins Baseball games.
serious this is what baseball is about, not the strikeout/HR bullshit
Exactly
That damn Seattle v Houston game that went extra innings....EVERY DAMN BATTER was trying to hit a HR. Really dumb baseball.
@@fjg8340 guess what won the game…
@@SleeplessWrestling guess what could have won the game two hours beforehand?
Idk maybe the pitchers were just better mostly
Small ball win WS
