Jonah Loeb its not hard to tell someone to go to right field and point the knob to the catcher...i would have been impressed if he told her to hit the inside of the baseball or extend the top hand more threw her swing.
This is the best thing ever. I come back to this for soothing. DeRosa and Thome are stoked at what is happening. Not TV stoked, but they are legitimately stoked at seeing this.
Thome was not only awesome on the field, he was awesome off the field too. he was a true "selfless star." he never missed an opportunity to talk to a kid whom he knew loved him, because he knew that kid would remember that moment for the rest of his life. he treated Indians fans like family and we loved him for it. him and Omar Vizquel were doing pregame warmups before a game and he turned to the crowd when they were done and I miraculously got his attention and he threw it to me. I was about 12 so, needless to say, my dad towered over me. when Thome threw the ball to me my dad naturally caught it not even thinking about. Thome stopped *dead in his tracks* and stared my dad down until he saw him hand me the ball, then went on his way lol then he proceeded to hit 2 HR's and a double that game. somehow once again I miraculously got his attention after the game and he came and signed my ball for me. he actually friggin' remembered throwing the same ball to me before the game, and said he didn't think "the guy next to me"(my dad) was going to give me the ball so he was about to say something to him haha still my prized possession of my entire life, that ball will never leave my family.
Ohio Against The World Great story. I grew up in LA so I'm a rabid Dodgers fan. But those mid 90s Indians teams were a team I loved to watch. Manny and Thome were my two favorite hitters back then.
Jim, I grew up in Cleveland watching you. I want to thank you for the homeruns you hit and how you carried yourself throughout the years. I couldn’t have asked for a better childhood. As a kid, it was exciting and that’s the way it should have been. Thanks Jim.
I was never told that in six years of Little League. It might have helped me more, and I had the opposite problem that Lauren has. Also, I think I misunderstood what "bail out" meant before this video - I thought it only applied to the feet.
As obvious as it sounds now, I wish I had known about having the knob of the bat towards the catcher earlier. Either my coaches never told me about that, or I wasn't paying attention.
@@braedenlane 1. Having the knob of the bat towards the catcher . 2. Who Jim Thome was and what team he played for. 3. He showed me the correct way to instruct from the front only.
yeah but she was poor student and he try show her to stance with front foot in more then back, and she did not listen and keep hitting it to wrong side of feild. That biggest part.
Good catch by DeRo telling Lauren to stay square and not shift totally towards the catcher to hit to right center. And good that Lauren made him define “don’t bail out”.
Thome is a class act, phenomenal player & great man. The MLB Central cast (DeRo, LS, Roflo) are the best in the business, the most entertaining, influential & educational sports show on television. DeRo is my all time favorite, love the guy. He’s such an incredible baseball mind & great athlete. He was actually a pretty good college QB. Moreover, I have to say how beautiful Lauren is, she was a bombshell at UF. She can model workout attire 🤩🤩😻😻🔥💥❤️😍💕😍🥰. I pray 🙏 that MLB Central is back for the 23 season. Let’s get it Cubs fans!!
Ssshhhh....ok, brother, deep breath. Watch the video again, focus on the woman in the tight pants. Stop the video where you find the best image, and clear your mind of that trip to WalMart. Relax, meditate on the image on your computer screen, not on what you saw at the store. Relaaaax...reeeelaaax....there you go..keep a clear mind and only pure thoughts. Yes...yes...now chant, and repeat, the mantra..."LYYYYYYYYY....CRUUUUUUUH...."
Thome had incredible power to the opposite field. Man when he pulled the ball... no one hit them harder. Also, I don't know if it's been mentioned or not, but she is hot as hell.
de ro comes off so great day after day show after show. making a name for himself after a solid mlb career. likeable and might get offered a gig in an organization soon.
A pitcher will read it right away and throw inside, especially if your batting stance was drastically different in your other at bats. Unless you're Cal Ripken and change it from pitch to pitch. It's like poker, you don't show your hand. Gwynn had the same batting stance for 20 years and sprayed it all over the place.
More like Lauren She-hottie :) And, damn, she can swing the bat. And, Thome was always a beast at the plate. Love that dude. Love the show, you guys are always entertaining and fun and informative.
When Thome came to the plate... especially in a tight game, you always felt like he was about to crush it. His persona on the field always seemed to bring the magic of baseball to life. For me, there are very few players today who carry that torch. Mike Trout, definitely... Harper tries, but is just a brat... maybe it's different for the younger generation... which players bring that magic alive for you?
I don't know who this lovely young lady is, but she's definitely interested in learning the game. That swing looks pretty doggone good to me especially with Jim help.
Lauren Shehadi listen here cause I'm being Straight Up, Honest, For Real, True, No Lie, 💯, On God, Facts, I'm telling everyone right now that 3/4 of the time I'm trying to watch MLB Network for insight, scores, and rundowns from the games the night before and get info, opinions, and analogies on games for the upcoming night but when Lauren SheHottie is on the screen at all I can't pay attention to anything but her period!!! Lauren: *hits walk off grand slam in game 7 of the world series*
Thome: little better!
LMAO😭💀
😆😆😆😁
Picture her coming into the clubhouse after the walkoff, raised in arms and Thome goes...
You gotta come in a little closer
Safe to say, Thome is hard to impress when comes to hitting.
I dare all the girls to take cool whip pies to the face and put the video on youtube!!
Thome's face was priceless when she lined the inside pitch right up the middle
Love how she is so excited to be learning and being successful. Thome, DeRo, you guys are the BEST.
Man Thome is a hell of a mentor .
He's unbelievable. How many swings did it take him to notice her problem and figure out how to fix it? Maybe three or four?
Jonah Loeb its not hard to tell someone to go to right field and point the knob to the catcher...i would have been impressed if he told her to hit the inside of the baseball or extend the top hand more threw her swing.
They both definitely know what the hell they are doing. As it turns out, they don't just let anyone play in the show. Great hitting advice!

This is the best thing ever. I come back to this for soothing. DeRosa and Thome are stoked at what is happening. Not TV stoked, but they are legitimately stoked at seeing this.
This video demonstrates the skill involved in hitting and the hand to eye coordination involved.
Just received more coaching here in 5 mins than I ever did growing up through high school ball. Coaching is everything in baseball.

Funny how Manny Ramirez and Jim Thome later went on to play for the Dodgers. On separate occasions.
Wicked story man

Shehadi is so cute!! Thome seems like such a cool dude too!
ApparentlyEric thome is definitely a good dude. Held his car at my hotel once dude was incredibly nice and an excellent tipper. Shehottie is amazing
Thome is a class act
Thome is so down to earth. Showed him my secret to shinier shoes and told me to giving him a shoe shine outside Detroit daily news stand.
MLB Network is the ONLY thing I watch on TV you guys are awesome
MLB Central is MLB's answer to Inside the NBA.
After years of watching him play for rival teams, I never knew I was a Thome fan... This guy is awesome!
Thome is a great mentor and DeRo is hilarious. Lauren's genuine reactions to their tips working are perfect
The knob to the catcher tip is great!
plus Shehadi rocks
Horacio Garcia that's learned in tee ball
I never learned that and I played baseball for 15 years with tons of Legion ball experience. Its not a known thing
He meant the knob on the catcher's tip ......
played Division 1 college baseball and was never told that once lol... nice try though
I was never told that in six years of Little League. It might have helped me more, and I had the opposite problem that Lauren has. Also, I think I misunderstood what "bail out" meant before this video - I thought it only applied to the feet.
Lauren is one of my favorite TV personalities. She is awesome on all the MLB Network shows. And she's an awesome person too.
Incredible coaching!!! These guys know hitting!
The thirst level in the comments is at an all time high
It's the Internet soooo yeah.
I disagree. I say it is very on par.
oh either were thirsty or sexist give me a break lauren is awesome shes a total athlete
Lauren a dime
lol shes not even hot smh
Jim Thome needs to be the Texas Rangers hitting coach. He will fix Rougned Odor and Joey Gallo! He’ll have them hitting .300 and not .200
Big fan of your videos
The Rangers couldn't afford him. He makes too much money at Fox.
Thome was struggling here lol I'd do better.
If he wants a pay cut 😂
He got CTB too..
Jim Thome is a genius! Would never have guessed a power hitter would known so much about hitting!
I have to admit I tuned in to watch this chick in her tight black outfit ....but I actually learned a good tip or 2 about hitting 😀😀😀
What hitting?..
As obvious as it sounds now, I wish I had known about having the knob of the bat towards the catcher earlier. Either my coaches never told me about that, or I wasn't paying attention.

The science of baseball and hitting is so awesome to watch
People that say, "I am not into baseball. Or " I hate baseball because it's boring" are the people who prefer checkers over chess! FACT!
Dero was a clubhouse guy. But would step up when needed. You need those kind of guys on championship ballclubs.
"DON'T HIT ME." -Jim Thome. Awesome.
Derosa is a good fit for mlb program, let us leave it at that.
Thome was a beast! I loved watching him homeruns.
Jim Thome is a class act. Provided very helpful instruction to Lauren without belittling or condescension.

In body mass alone...
What a gorgeous woman
I love how serious DeRosa is, "wait, wa-wo-wo-wait, you're cheating...."
