I agree. The PDP is more or less an updated PPQ. I use the 4” PDP compact as my EDC. I love it. They shoot nice. I have noticed that they can be snappy thought (or maybe it’s just me). I’d say buy one. Try it out for a while.

Been carrying the 4” pdp for awhile now. Love it. At an attempt to reduce the snappiness I bought a ztr 13lb stainless steel guide rod. Absolute game changer. I’m experimenting between the 13lb and 15lb springs. 13 is soooo smooth. Borderline 2011 smooth slide feel with very little flip feel. Give it a shot

Do you wish you got the pdp-f version instead for your edc? I’m considering the compact version as well but heard the pdp-f might be better for edc

I own a PDP 4" Compact that I purchased as a somewhat Christmas gift for myself in 2021, several months later Walther released the PDP F series which I instantly fell in love with it especially the 3.5" version. I contemplated selling it back to the store where I bought it from even though it wasn't fired it would be considered a "Used" gun and they would of beaten me up as far as a trade in, so I decided to keep it. I finally shot it last week, very decent firing pistol, exactly what I expected from a Walther handgun, I've previously owned a P99 and a S&W 99 fullsize & Sub Compact. I'm not sure if I detected the "Snappiness" or not I'll have to take it back out and run some more rounds through it. I fired it along side a S&W Shield Plus and a Polymer 80 Pfc9. I still see a PDP F-SERIES 3.5" in the not to distant future 👍🏽

Realize I’m a litle late to the party here, but just a thought on your disdain for the “Toblerone Effect” slide. Keeping in mind that the design was developed for military field trials, the wide spaced, deep serrations (particularly as exemplified on the first teration of the Beretta APX) makes it possible to get a positive grip from any position on the slide. This makes it much easier to rack the pistol without worrying about where your hand is along the slide (but obviously not into the path of the muzzle) - especially when wearing tactical gloves.

Great video. I have the PDP-F 3.5 which I purchased last May. I have to say that it's become one of my very favorite pistols. I have several S&Ws, a Glock 19 and a Hellcat Pro, and this gun far surpasses any of them (for me) in terms of the way it fits my hand, the recoil control, the awesome trigger, comfort to shoot, fit and finish, and accuracy. The only drawback for me is that's a bit chunky as a EDC gun (which I was hoping to use it for). It's okay to carry in the colder weather under a coat, but it prints under a t-shirt in the Summer, and you can also feel the bulk when carrying IWB. So for that I'll stick with my Shield Plus. Finding a holster for it was a bit of a challenge, but I ended up getting one from Philster which I'm very pleased with. Overall it's been a fantastic gun to own and shoot with the quality surpassing most any other gun I own. Really enjoy your videos.

I really like these guns, they would be almost perfect (for me)if they put metal sights and just give us 2-4 plates in the box. Lots of guns come with extra plates are the margins that close on this that you can’t put a couple extra plates in the boxes?

So you prefer an all metal handgun. I get it, I like them too, but have no issues with carrying the polymer wonder 9's either. I'd love to hear your take on the new PDP steel frame people are talking about now.

One thing I have learned from not living in a free state is how appreciative I am to own a decent gun. Most people are just spoiled. Once I do live in a free state I'm sure ill change but ill always be happy with what I can get.

Look at the holo solar sight green dot for this very low no plate need and you can still see the 3dot sights at the same time.

I finally shot mine, it is a helluva gun. Paid $599 Cabela’s. What’s the story with additional maintenance for plus p ammo and never + pp ?

Dorkus, that was the PDP I had, other than it being a little flippy I loved the way it shot
    I agree about it's 'bigness'
it was designed to be Big, so gloved officers could utilize it.
that was it's ultimate downfall for me, it was just dimensionally too big for my purposes.
speaking of the PDP, I'd like to see a review of the new PD380

How do you feel about the new steel series that released?

The match or competition steel version looks good but the sale price is 📈 . If you want a Rolls or BMW MB type 9mm carry gun; have at it. M&P has a new 2.0 all steel Cerakote grey 9mm too. Only $800-900.
