8:24 this code works this way because Mario is technically a statue here, like when you use the tanooki suit. When Mario is a statue, he cannot travel through pipes. This is also why Mario is gray here.
Thanks to you; I spent the last 2 years of my entire life playing Mario 3 with the LUAZIE code every waking hour of the day & I got fired from my job, got kicked out of my apartment for not paying rent & thrown into a mental hospital because I was afraid the ground would disappear under me at any time when I stepped on it. They let me out because I lied & said I wasnt afraid of it any more but ANY 1 of my next steps could be my last 1 so I refused to take steps & stay in my room all day & night & have my mom bring me my food & buckets to pee & shit in, im not gonna chance it ive seen what happened to Mario & it could easily happen to me because for those 2 years; I became Mario.
Dude what makes you videos so appealing is two aspects especially. 1. How enthusiastic you are about playing the codes. 2. When you interpet what each code is in an abstract way- ie: mario has fins on his head. please make more
Codes like PAPZUG have weird unrelated side effects like the giant pipe appearing because 6 letter codes are not specific enough to use accurately with large games like SMB3. The game swaps out different parts of code and data into the same memory addresses, leading to one code having an effect on multiple unrelated parts of the game. You can almost always fix it by using an 8 letter code with the correct comparison byte. Just make sure you flip the length bit before adding those extra characters.
I'd like to know how it 8 character codes work though. I've always told that 8 character codes have more specific effects than 6 character ones. Guess it all comes down to the compare value which I don't know how it works.
The 8 digit codes check the byte they're about to change and see if it matches the "compare" value. In FCEUX, go to "Debug" menu --> Game Genie Decoder/Encoder. Put "papzug" in the "Game Genie Code" field. Now you see a list of addresses in the "Possible Affected Rom File Addresses" field. Double click the first one, and it brings up the Hex Editor. The cursor starts at that address and in that spot it has the value "02". Add the code "papzug" to the cheat list, but now set the compare value to 02. Test, and see if it gives you the night code without the pipe. Repeat the same steps for all addresses until you find the compare value that works. I'll just tell you the correct compare value is 10. Put that in the Compare value in the encode/decoder and the "Game Genie Code" field will change to PAOZUGAP, which is the proper 8-digit version of this. If you're weird and only want the pipe thing, it's PAOZUKIY (compare value 7d).
@@ParadoxIsland I notice you only supplied 7 digits, but I'm guessing it's OOKXGLIE, one of the glitched air swimming suits. Since people might find this useful I went ahead and made a code to disable airwater transitions GZOZKEKK.
@@ParadoxIsland I don't know the details of how the rewind works. Perhaps it doesn't work right with game genie codes. Maybe you can play without the rewind at least.
@I Wasted My Time Responding To This Person! i know that mario code isnt possible since mario is a sprite and only tiles can have the ability to have flashing colors.

I used to go to a restaurant where one of the lights rapidly flickered, faster than the eye could see. Because of this, you would get a tracer effect if you moved your hand around in front of your face or any such thing. Someone else has brought the restaurant since and improved it quite a bit, so no mote tracer light.
I want to see a video of someone attempting the LUAZIE challenge code. There's no music in that code so you shouldn't have any problems with copyright!
Here's another one to go with it: TELLEY. You run rapidly through the level, and if you miss any pipes, then good luck. You also clip tiles, but that's the spice.
One code I once generated randomly on my actual Game Genie many years ago allowed you to enter and re-enter any level on the map, even after you clear them. You could even enter any point on the map, but that only gave you a Hammer Bros. stage but without any Hammer Bros. I never found the code again.
The sound bug at 3:45 with the 1-up sound can actually be done in an unmodified game, if you wag your tail about 5/12ths of a second after picking up a 1-up
3:39 - when I bought this game back before Game Genie existed I heard that same sound randomly whenever I played this game which had me thinking it was about to glitch in the middle of gameplay.
i recently tried the aakxtiyp aavzaiia code, you shoot blocks with the fire flower and objects turn into coins code. ALOT of fun. Makes you appreciate the fire flower even more 🙂
So the reason it's harder to find good codes for SMB3 is its size. A 6 letter code replaces one byte in every 32K ROM bank. For SMB1 there's only one bank so it's fine. In SMB3 a 6 letter code is changing 16 separate bytes, so you get weird side effects like a random pipe blocking you. 8 letter codes avoid that by also specifying the original byte so that they're unlikely to change more than the intended data. But that means just guessing at them has only about 1/16 chance to do anything. (1/256 of matching a byte, times 16 bytes to match.) That plus so many more bytes in the game means it's unlikely to get a good code this way.
On the plus side, with a little know-how you can convert 6 letter codes to 8 letters, and get only some of their effects. So you could isolate the desired effect and not the others.
The "Death Mario" is a glitched out stone Mario. You can get that effect without GG if you turn to stone just as you pick up a hammer brothers suit. Same result too, no pipe use.
10:45. I've used that code before and yeah, I explored too. Here is something interesting: Go to the first mini-fortress of World 7, and go to lava room. Get to top of pipe and start digging to the right. Eventually, you will hear the Boom-Boom boss fight music (apparently, you are above his room). Unfortunately, all you can do though is let the music run out or dig through the bricks down to the bottom of screen and drop to your death.
Death Mario Hates Power-Ups. Whenever He Collects A Mushroom, He Just Reverts To Small Form. Thanks For Playing Super Mario Bros. 3 And Using The Game’s Many Game Genie Codes!
Haha, that Cheap Cheap code is actually awesome! And that PEEZIA code is beyond amazing. You know, that night palette code actually sort of resembles what they call "day for night" shots in film making, which is one of my personal favorite ambient effects in general.
When I was a kid I spent hours apon hours trying to come up with an infinite tanooki suit code. The closest I ever came was KOKXGLIE. You had infanite Tanookie suit and the down + b funtion worked, however it looked glitchy. Never seemed to affect anything else so no weird pipes.
8:12 what's actually happened is mario now has the tanooki state's abilities permanentally. And because of that he's grey and can kill anything just by jumping on it. But because he has the statue's abilities he can't go through pipes because you can't do that normally as a statue. Just thought I'd clear that up
I tried the AAKXTIYP + AAVZAIIA code recently. Sometimes you get a black nipper plant instead of a coin. Just shoot at it to turn in into a coin. I found a weird exit in 4-5: Enter pipe to the Tanooki suit, remove blocks to the right and you'll find and alternate exit that seems like the ending of 8-1. Also found out, unlike Boom-Boom, you can't kill any Koopaling by making them fall through hole you make in floor. If the question mark that Boom-Boom leaves behind also falls through hole, you can't complete level. For anyone else that wants to try this, I recommend using this code too: AASZAZYP. That code allows any type of Mario (except Hammer) to shoot fireballs.

Also messes with the game's audio as a minor side effect. This code also grants infinite lives to counterbalance the right only insane difficulty.
SNAZTS+POLUYT - Better SNAZTS code!; SNAZTS - What's in the box?!? (Random enemies pop out of power up boxes!) POLUYT - Turns coin ? boxes to power up boxes! (Since SNAZTS was made only for power up boxes, POLUYT makes it so that almost every type of block, including coin boxes, and *bricks* are effected by the SNAZTS code.) However, since this code effects bricks, you may need to apply a replacer codes for the bricks, or you may get stuck in some levels, like 2-Pyramid. In this case, ZLOGVLYT loads all normal bricks as ice bricks, and that may fix your problem.
8:24 As Rudy mentioned, you cant go in pipes because you are flagged as a statue. You can get this glitch to happen if you grab a powerup while you're a statue, like the hammer suit for example. I'll see what i can do to bypass this restriction, but this might end up being a 2 or 3-liner code. Hopefully not more. I remember the ???GLIE codes, and since you mentioned tweaking one letter in already-existing codes, you probably know that these are glitched powerups. I might remember this wrong, but when playing with the memory editor years ago, i may have found one glitched powerup that lets you go in water without crashing the game.
I also remember that the ????GLIE codes would lock the game after Bowser's fight, right after the door to the princess opens up, where it would do this "fake pause" glitch. You just have to stand in front of the door, and just hold up. You will automatically go in, and complete the game. I made the code that enables you to go through pipes as Statue Mario: PYSLUKZY (You still need KEKXGLIE) Not tested on real console. Works on both PRG0 and PRG1
That 2 line coin code really helped me to look behind boundarys of many levels wich i otherwise coun't get trough such as in the fortress of world 2 or that pyramid level etc,,, THX alot😀👍
Did you know? The reason why the corrupted 1-up sound plays is because the game tries to play the tanooki tail sound and the 1 up sound at the same time, and the game mashes them together, plus some other byte problems, and the corrupted, repeated 1-up sound plays forever.
Hey I'm getting ready to record a video of me testing a game genie code on smb3. The code allows you to play as and stay as a certain power up. If you beat the game using this code, when you defeat Bowser, you have to go to the door and hold up until it opens. If you don't the game will freeze forever. No one will test this using actual hardware but I am going to test this using an emulator.
Try 1) always stay in hammer suit 2) always have p-wing power 3) start in World 7. Do the first mini fortress using those codes. I seem to recall many enemies in that mini fortress when I did this game at my friend’s place....and I think those codes might be what did it. Also I apologize if I posted this before or already.
Try these man. POZZST. I call this itchy plumbers crack. Also PPZZIS (one line) EKIOZT (second line) do the first level and die. you will beat all, evels instantly. And GOZZTS. Makes turning very strange. Also do _ _ _ OSK will give you some awesome visual corruptions, or crash. Like PZZOSK or XTKOSK. If anyone wants more. Just let me know :D
IOZZXX take you to the Mario vs Luigi battle mini game instead of the first level. XPOSZI hit one coin block and get infinite 1 UPS, if you hit another it crashes. IIOZTT replaces the castle for a shine crying for help. (works only for world 1.) POZZTT creates demon Petey plants. Its very unstable but playable, just wait until they go back into their pipe cause they will crash it or somehow murder your face. PAEXLL cause a weird stomping sound on enemies. (correction) XTKOSK gives you infinite star power as long as you move and also coins as you move

*KKKZSPIU* - The SMB3 God code: Both players get a full inventory of every item, with the rest being P-Wings. Pressing down and up selects between different starting worlds from the title screen, and pressing A at the title screen gives you 5 extra lives (up to 99) to start. During game play, pressing select on controller 1 cycles through power-up states in real time...even for Luigi, essentially providing situational invincibility. Also, when time runs out, you won't die!

Wow. Killgruz, I am interested a lot. You are a smart man.
Thx for the shoutout at the end
Try
1) always stay in hammer suit
2) always have p-wing power
3) start in World 7.
Do the first mini fortress using those codes.
I seem to recall many enemies in that mini fortress when I did this game at my friend’s place....and I think those codes might be what did it.
Also I apologize if I posted this before or already.
Amazing.. I’d like to try some of these!
The pink flickering sky is also reminded me of stranger things season 2!!
9:26 my fav part XD.
4:37 Was that Princess Peach in the background?
5:16 this kinda looks 3d
That last code is perfect for dealing with a friend who is always cocky about smb3
Sr Sm00thy buns MOOOORE COOOODES
IOZZXX take you to the Mario vs Luigi battle mini game instead of the first level. XPOSZI hit one coin block and get infinite 1 UPS, if you hit another it crashes. IIOZTT replaces the castle for a shine crying for help. (works only for world 1.) POZZTT creates demon Petey plants. Its very unstable but playable, just wait until they go back into their pipe cause they will crash it or somehow murder your face. PAEXLL cause a weird stomping sound on enemies. (correction) XTKOSK gives you infinite star power as long as you move and also coins as you move
Sr Sm00thy buns thanks
try SEXOSK
Theres a couple of osk codes that do that. ZZTOSK is a good one. And KASOSK I call Rivet land
BITCHP = Super Mario Bros. NES, Everything goes crazy
this was amazing
GASP I HAVENT SEEN ONE OF THESE GUYS VIDEOS SINCE THE SMB1 CODES VIDEO
2:43 IIAOKG is an OK graphic corruptor code, but it is not enough to beat the 'YEAAAA' code.

'F**k, $h!t, damn'. Literally my gaming anthem.
9:21 thought it said "jews" lol
New drinking game: take a shot every time he says 'code'.
love these vids
Fun facts that sound that you’ve been hearing that you called annoying is actually the full one up theme
9:22 I swear that said JEWS upon first inspection. Nah, just JEJS.
Your videos are awesome dude
Glad I found your channel, I like your style! New sub here!
I love the way he says code
Cheep-Cheeps everywhere + everything throws hammers from the first game = Evil beyond reason
You're pretty dang funny,subscribed.
i have 2 codes you should try. GOZSXX- Collisions no longer kill Mario or Luigi. Try throwing yourself in lava and spikes.
PEPLUN- Coins stay forever.
Dude, awesome.
Awesome again on ur video
