I still love this set. With a few quick changes to extend the barrels, add an extra gun to above the longer barrels, and put some slope pieces underneath it’s gorgeous. Yes, Lego should’ve done this themselves and the cockpit stickers are bad but I still love this set.
The downscale was to be expected, so I don’t have any complaints with the size that much. The things that I definitely agree with you on is the wing size, the lengths of the cannons, as well as the miscolored stickers (that Lego continues to do)… But overall, I don’t think this set is *that* bad, the figures are awesome and the build is fairly good, I’d rate this set an 8/10.
More than a size issue (this current size is welcome, occupies less shelf space) it's a matter of proportions. I could close an eye on the isd, as the superstructure had to be a tad more bulky for the sake of structure integrity (especially with the handle feature), and even then it doesn't look that bad. But this just doesn't feel like it's heavy enough. It looks just like any other nimble starfighter. But then again, the build looks solid. What bothers me is it'd have been just a few different pieces, without having to get the piece count higher... Plus those awful clear backed stickers on the cockpits, they really really take away the most from the look... ☠️

Canonical this thing is huge and the set should have been big, it’s literally an in universe flaw making the ARC-170 vulnerable to the much faster Vulture Droid because its larger and slower
In universe it was also very expensive and losing one meant losing 3 of your pilots too. The tri fighter was a menace against these ships and even the Rebel Alliance didn't use a lot of them due to the pilot shortage.

I haven't watched the whole video, so maybe you corrected this, but you actually mixed up Odd Ball and the standard pilot. I did the same at first, but the box says that the one with red markings is a standard pilot and the one with the yellow dot is Odd Ball.
This is the third Order 66 set to be released. The first two were the Clone Turbo Tank and the second was the BARC speeder escape set I bought just a few months back.
I had a paper bag version of this set. I kinda dislike the paper bags. Parts often get stuck in them. Had it with multiple sets now that I got to peak in and see if anything is lodged in it. As for the stickers, its the problem that all of them are clear backed. And I know they need to be for the see through part. But at least the rear sticker didn't need to be at all. As for the front 2 they should be printed. Whats weird is that the details on the big round dishes are prints! And those are as generic a piece can get. Those 4 should be stickers then have the cockpits prints.
I didn’t own either of the previous ones whenever I was a kid so I picked one up. I personally don’t mind the down size of it, my only complaint is the spring loaded shooters.
I personally do like this version because while yes it it smaller it still is a fun to play with with good minifigures and I think it's not that bad that its smaller because we have gotten smaller Lego models before like the clone turbo tank and honestly its not the worst overpriced Lego star wars set either though
FLC Video idea: Rank all the Lego Star Wars Buildable Figures from worst to best(Jyn Erso likely being the worst one to whichever character you think is the best Buildable Figure)
I feel like this set is going to get too much hate. While not perfect, it definitely has its perks. The only real issue are those stickers, which should have been printed considering they do have printed cockpits before. Other than that, some minor stuff here for me, but it has a lot to love about, especially on the figures. Also glad to see someone say its price is reasonable, but I’m still going to wait it out, since I have a feeling this year is going to be big later for Lego Star Wars, so idk if there will be a set I want more that’s pricer or something.
My only problem with the set is the wings are slightly shorter than I'd want them to be. But you know, it's LEGO, just grab a few white plates and extend it 😒 Nobody is pointing a gun at your head to apply the stickers too. Maybe you could even find a cockpit that looks better. Other than that the minifigs are really cool and I have no issue with this thing being smaller than it realistically should be. People just can't shut up about anything LSW these days, which is sometimes fair, but this set imo is an exception.
I got this set day 1, and I personally love it. But everything I love I can recognize flaws Cannons. Yeah. The stud shooters just hold the model back... They should done what some sets do and just hide the launcher underneath the wing rather than make it apart of the actual weaponry. Like many others, I've rebuilt the cannons. For the wing span, I'm quite alright with it's length. I always felt the the really long wings were unsightly even if that's how they're suppose to be. But I suppose it wouldn't hurt to make the wings a stud or two longer. I'm fine with the canopy stickers, I got mine looking fine. BUT, printed would have been 100% times better. I honestly kinda hope a custom lego store makes printed canopy. If you told me I had to rate this set on a scale of 1 to 10, I'd probably say 8. It gets bumped up to 9 if the canopy was printed and the cannons were designed better without the stud shooter Then it gets bumped up to 10 if it came with an extra minifigure (I'd want Plo Koon, but I have feeling we're getting a Plo Koon's Jedi Starfighter set soon. So hell, what if we got a couple buzzdroid builds? I know it's meant to depict a specific scene during Order 66, but what the tools to depict other scenes as well?)
Just so you know, the "accurate" pilot placement is Commander Oddball in the front seat, "Captain Jag" (it's technically not actually Jag but another clone pilot who shares the same helmet markings) in the second seat, and the red and yellow pilot in the tail gun seat.
The size of the wings look fine to me, but the cockpit stickers are a major problem. They look like they're for a ship with a light grey base color, not a white base color. The cannons also could be longer and shouldn't have those missles. It's not a big deal to me though since I don't care for the ARC 170 to begin with. At least it doesn't have rubber bands anymore.
The only complaints I have about the set other than the price: the cockpits needed to be printed, the cannons needed to be longer, and the pilots should have had an updated helmet mold to include visors rather than printing on the minifig head.
I love the set, I don’t know why people don’t like it The 2010 one is too big and kinda ugly. It looks like something from 2010 with the big technic engines and all the exposed studs, like how the 2012 x wing looks like it’s from 2012. This new one looks really clean and modern and that’s why I think it’s good. Yes ideally it should look more similar to the 2010 version but it’s still good

I would just modify mine, sure you shouldn’t have to do that but I want my model to look good. Just leave the cockpit stickers off, upgrade the wing blasters and make the top and bottom wings longer. These aren’t too hard to do.

Following my idea of a 2nd set for the mechanism to make an X-wing, with the Extra parts, if the ARC's wings are made Longer, would the Extra Weight cause the wings to droop?
I had the 05 set when I was a kid. Got back into Lego recently and was hyped for this set. But after looking at this I’ll probably grab the 2010 model. Rather have a upscaled version and pay more on bricklink than this scaled down one

I definitely dont mind then scaling down the sets as i can actually afford and display some of them now but i own the 2005 ARC-170 that I've modded and I'm not sure this is eniugh to convince me to buy it
it should be no more than $45. at $50 it should've included printed cockpits *at least*. I mean almost every other ship less expensive has the printing. and ESPECIALLY for *$70* it should've been proportionately correct WITH PRINTED COCKPIT VIEWSCREENS. this is a absolutely ridiculous and basically false advertising considering the box art.

The last one was on sale for ages.
i understand the hate but im ngl i couldnt get it as a kid and getting it now is just a dream so idc lmao
set 8088 still rules!!!!
I definitely dont mind then scaling down the sets as i can actually afford and display some of them now but i own the 2005 ARC-170 that I've modded and I'm not sure this is eniugh to convince me to buy it
Rebrickable puts the parts total value at 77, so 70 isn't bad.
Usually the rebrickable price of new sets is double the price
it should be no more than $45. at $50 it should've included printed cockpits *at least*. I mean almost every other ship less expensive has the printing.
and ESPECIALLY for *$70* it should've been proportionately correct WITH PRINTED COCKPIT VIEWSCREENS. this is a absolutely ridiculous and basically false advertising considering the box art.
The underside looks rough bruh
nah I'll wait another 15.
It has a decent price? That cant be ment seriously?
Didnt find, that the wings are proporsunal incorrect, both end at the red stipe of the middle wing ir did I understand something incorrect?
This review seems a little dramatic not gonna lie 😅
For sure
Yeah
Nah it’s based
I'm a bit scared as his last videos have had some ragebait titles.
He's flying too close to Mandr for my liking.
@GrantGraff It takes effort to get on mandr's level of insufferable
