Before anyone else asks, the reason I didn’t put two flashes in it is: it can’t hold two flashes.
The tiny V350 sized ones, yes, but not typical, full sized flashes. Sorry, the rumours were inaccurate. 🤷🏻♂️
So if we want to use two AD200, we have to use AD-B2? please reply I am considering purchase of Two AD200 for pre-wedding as well as for Wedding reception
Yes, you’re correct.
Another nice review. I am looking forward to seeing you reach 100k. Keep grinding.
Concise & entertaining, thanks West!
So what you're saying is get 2; 1 for your flash and another for your beer? I think could be pretty convenient if you're willing to use a straw.
You’ve got the best review style!
Thanks! 🙏🏻
Hi, Wes,
Is there any changes in design of S2 that allow to attach it to C-Stand (directly or with baby pin) ? Normal depth of socket to attach anything on C-Stand is around 1.5". With that depth attachment sits properly on pin and cannot be accidentally slip out without loosing screw. Socket of original S-Type not deep enough. Total depth of old S-Type 1.3" and also has more narrow portion around 0.3" on the bottom of socket so depth of portion with diameter 5/8" is only 1".
It seems to me that S2 has deeper socket and without narrow portion on the bottom inside of socket. Is it so ?
Please let me know. Thank you
Great review thanks :D
As someone who is new to photography this was really helpful. There are so many brands and mounts, atleast now I know that this can also hold a speedlight.
Can this fit the Canon EL-1?
nice video. I am very disapointed with S2. I wanted to follow godox tutos purchasing a UB130W umbrella and discovered two problems :
- when we want 130mm umbrella horizontal above subject with diffuser so ad300pro vertical on tripod, the umbrella is so heavy that it drops against tube. I needed to attach clamps,... rft-17 with a screw is helpful but the hole is badly aligned on S2 border. So S2 showuld have a optional screw for umbrella
- when we use a magmod 42" or umbrella 130, due to weight, the rotule is not a sgood as ad400pro one and the head of ad300pro rotates to the ground floor under the heavy weight
When you fit an AD 400 Pro in the S2 bracket. Will the Standard reflector from the Ad 400 Pro still fit? I'm trying to understand if the original bracket from the Ad 400 Pro is still required when changing modifiers.
I’m not sure what you mean. I don’t have an ad400 pro to experiment with, but if you put one in the bracket, the Bowens modifier/box will then be mounted on the S2 and not the ad400.
Will the Profoto A1X fit in this bracket?
Thanks for the fun review ! BTW - the AD600Pro already has a bowens mount so we don't really need any adapter in order to connect bowens softboxes to it , correct ?
That’s correct. This is more for stuff like the AD300, 200, V860, and some even use the AD400 in it.
@@WesPerry Great. Thanks a lot !
I can’t wait until they come out with one that will hold a 6 pack! Great video as always!!!
S6 bracket? 😏
Nice I still own many of the older Godox S-Type mounts, and for those who like me & U that have an issue with ratcheting tilt mechanism there is a 2 second fix.Remove the shoulder bolt and drop the tilt mechanism inside on both sides are two plastic washers with grooves cut in them;just remove them and put it back together . Now if you don't feel it is snug enough simple add one or two plain (not locking) washers,I added one and they all work great.
What is the shoulder bolt? I have two screws on the side of the bracket...
Can you tell me why the holes where the bowens mount of a softbox enter are in a different position in the new S2? Are around 30° clockwise and a rectangular softbox like phottix don’t stay vertical. I noticed that and the holes are different from S2 to S1 too. I can’t understand why and how to fix this problem.
I just assumed that it was arbitrary and didn’t matter. Every box I have has a spinning speed ring on the back, so it’s orientation agnostic. That’s unfortunate. I would assume they weren’t thinking about that at all and simply did whatever was convenient for them.
Wes Perry I found it. I am sorry for the stupid question and waste of time. Thank you so much. 🙏🏻
Wes, when are you touring? I would pay money to see your stand up routine.
You might be waiting a while 😏
Wes Perry just make sure it’s not in the fall or winter. I heard Canada is too cold during those times... lol 😉
Hi great video, thank you
what's the difference between godox s2 bracket and glow s2 bracket ?
The brand name printed on it. 😏
Your lighting so unique. How many lights do you use? In where area?

@@WesPerry Got it. Thanks
Will it fit an AD200 with he rubber skin on it? That was my real problem with V1.
Easy. Loads of space in there.
any second thoughts on your a9? are you considering any other camera at the moment?
Second or third? After using it for a few years, the only camera I’m currently tempted by is the a9ii. But I just don’t have the $$$ for that at the moment. If anything I have some second thoughts about the a7iii. Although I love the faster mechanical shutter, I have to use it with the EFCS disabled so much that it’s not really worthwhile most of the time anyway. (To prevent it from messing with the bokeh, or for HSS). Additionally, the AF messes me up fairly often. Although it’s fantastic and easily 80% as good at AF as the a9 (it was 90% before the V5 and V6 updates for the a9), when you’re used to 100%, you make mistakes when you’re using the 80 and intuitively expecting more.
@@WesPerry Any truth to reliability? but you said few years , any issues during those years?
Nope no issues. 65 weddings (7 ceremonies in the rain) and piles of other stuff later and it’s doing just fine.
I have 2 of the new ones and neither one of them will tilt. What am I doing wrong?
You can’t loosen the big handle at the base?
@@WesPerry I was trying to push the button in to get it to turn. I didn't have to. I only had to loosen the handle. It was totally my fault making something simple hard.
Hi! Can you tell me the inside diameter of the bracket? I have a godox 300sdi and it has 9,5cm in diameter...
Helga Correia 9cm top to bottom and side to side. Sorry! 🤷🏻♂️
@@WesPerry ohhh to bad.... thank you! :(
Terrific video as usual
I wonder if there's any deals going on at Profusion for Godox
I don’t see a Godox booth in the list. Just Profoto.
@@WesPerry received an email a few days ago from Vistek...
Godox - new studio strobe and continuous lights - official Canadian launch!..
But in the same email was this...
See the world premiere of the new Leica SL2 camera at ProFusion 2019!...
That's the last thing I want to do is fall in love with that SL2.
I think you’ll be okay without that one 😂
Could you fit 2 speedlights in this bracket?
Only the tiny kind, not regular ones I’m afraid.
Where did you get your t-shirt?
Walmart 😉
6-9-2020: Can't wait for the S3.....a bracket that actually holds two normal speedlights. Seems like a no brainer to me....should've been done eons ago. By anybody.
Does ANYONE know of other brands/products that would offer that?
Any that I’ve seen hold onto the hot shoe...which is a bit more precarious.
can you slip a strobe with magmod rubber ? backwards maybe?
I think so, as you said, feeding in backwards. I don’t have any magmod stuff to try on it to be certain, though. But there’s a lot of room in this thing.
@@WesPerry thanks!
you had me at the bananas, hahahahah
will the AD300 pro fit?
Yep! 👌🏻
Can I attach 2 sb910 in there?
I don’t think so. There’s no way to squeeze two “normal sized” flashes in as the rumours suggested before it came out.
Hahhahaha you are too funny man!I've found the S2 on aliexpress, i think to order. Can you suggest a modifier for the V1?! What size of octabox/softbox you suggest? Thanks in advance! =)
Depends how much light you need. The bigger the box, the better your light, but also the less you’ll have.
The V1 isn’t ideal for soft boxes really, as it doesn’t have a drop down diffuser panel, so you’ll definitely want something double diffused to even things out.
@@WesPerry for this reason there is the AD200pro on the road :P
You need to answer the burning question: did you put a massive dent in your table when you tossed the version 1 bracket over your shoulder??!!
It’s okay. It’s not as heavy or as sturdy as the new S2 😏
@@WesPerry Haha. The salesman!!!
I’ve gots bills to pay here!
But also, it’s just better, so what are you gonna do 😉
And also also, I placed the cans on the table specifically to break it’s fall and make a clatter 😏
Does it hold 2 speedlites?, my big question!
For normal sized ones, it doesn’t seem to. I’ll try harder and get back to you tonight, since you’re not the first one who seems to have expected this.
@@WesPerry Thanks Wes for you speedy reply!
Sorry, but that’s a hard nope on the dual full sized flashes. 👎🏻
it can hold 2 TT/V350s vertically, but not 2 full-size speedlights
@@cjmpaja Thanks for your info, very helpful!
I like your vidéo lightning.. juste Amazing 🤩
Then you might want to check this out: 😉

Can it hold 2 tt860
Afraid not.
@@WesPerry 😢
Can anyone tell me how many is 8.41k ??
8.41k??
Oh, I see that’s my subscriber count, 8410 in total. Yeah, not a lot.
I was like:"Why would I watch an S bracket video?" I thought it would be pointless and boring...
I was definitely wrong. It was short, clear, concise and funny !
Good to see Godox listens and improves its products l've been waiting for this. Now go easy on B1 and B2 Wes.
V1 and S2
AD400 will also fit...
Indeed it will. Which is why I said so in the video 😏
I want it to hold 2 flashes
Ya can’t always get what you want 🎶
@@WesPerry i guess two banans will have to suffice. Can you do a video on two or three speedlight together without using the flimsy base or is the answer to that a Godox Ad200?
I think the AD200 or AD400 is indeed the answer to that. The only thing I’ve seen are those triple coldshoe mounts that people sometimes use with umbrellas, though.
for that you need a MagMod MagRing + two MagMod MagGrip, one on each flash... thats 100 bucks but they are pretty awesome
@@WesPerry You can get anything you want at Alices Restaurant except for Alice😂
Somebody forgot to wash the dishes before making this video🍽
I gave up on having a clean kitchen for my videos ages ago 😏
The dad jokes are strong with this one.
Well...I Am a dad...😏
I just got two old ones ..hahaha
🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
You actually don't mount the V1 that way 🙂 the head is too low and off centred; you mount the V1 with the lower part of the two-parts removable inserts, which has a round profile, that makes you mount the V1 head more in the centre of the bracket, so light dispersion is better. Rob Hall made same mistakes in his review (and even when half dozen of people told him in the comments, he still didn't understood at all that the insert was a two pieces element, unlike you that show the separation of them), it's very strange that none of you could catch the right way to mount the V1.
I don’t use the inserts at all anymore, sorry 😂
If I put a V860iii in it, I just put it in sideways. V1 goes in with the crank all the way down with no insert as well. Much simpler that way. If I’m shooting through a double diffused soft box, being offset by 1” isn’t really going to make much difference anyway.
wtf I just bought the old s bracket 1 week ago....
Do you Need the new one?
Apparently you haven’t been obsessively following Godox news like I do. Haha
@@WesPerry by the time I wrote the comment, I've already bought the new 1 on amazon and I'll give them the old 1 back lol
Wow. You’re not messing around. Haha
