Seeing invisible rails being used for those bridges recently gave me an idea. Maybe you could use those invis rails to make routes for 'fake' trade ships, and possibly even some 1910s-40s style planes for lighter cargo? Not really sure if that can be done already through other means. I'd imagine it'd really make things look a lot more active in the colony, though.
I have already done this in my world. I can confirm that it does work and it works pretty well. The invisible tracks can be waterlogged so they won’t leave a weird line under the water.
Theres invisible bogeys (well, more like half a block) which makes it easier to hide them. It might be a big project because you'd need to make sea ports or airports
@@theplayer4664The expenses and work needed for building an air or sea port might not be nearly as big in the long-term compared to needing to make a lot of tunnels and bridges for regular railways over huge distances. Plus, railroads might also end up cluttering the map a bit much if those're the only means of long-distance cargo transport used, taking away from space for other building projects.
@@__-gh6kg I don't have much creativity which is why i prefer trains to making sea or air transport in Create. If the railroads are managed properly then they should not have to clutter the map too much. If were talking about using only one type of long distance cargo transport then planes and ships are slightly more limited in some way, ships can't be used in non-coastal areas while planes need large airports if you want to have them move a lot of cargo which could require a lot of space so it needs large flat areas. And if we are not talking about using one mode of transport then we can combine all 3 with rail being for shorter but higher capacity transport, ships for moving large amounts of cargo every trip, and planes for going above rivers and mountains, but i feel like planes wouldn't be great for that because larger cargo planes might not fit Create's industrial-ish theme while also taking a long time to place the phantom tracks at higher altitudes. Sorry that it is this long i couldn't figure out a way to say this shorter without loosing details.

Definitely not the most original name, but I feel like "Freedom express" just fits perfectly for an oil train because of Americans and their relationship with oil
Railway enthusiast here, gotta say the bridge at 9:35 is pretty unrealistic gradewise, but not necessarily unheard of. Some railroads in narrow gauge land got pretty steep and goofy, and logging railroads are their own can of worms, but the fact that you want to do that in BROAD GAUGE of all things is the true lunacy of it all
@TURBOMIKEIFY unrealistic doesn't mean impossible. Look at places like the Uintah Railroad or the Mount Tamalpais for example. Those alignments should never have worked like they did but they did. Steep grades and stupid sharp turns were made out of necessity due to terrain, but these roads were anomalies
Gradewise to me it looks like its a really steep ascension but probably managable for a powerful engine. According to real life experiences with broad gauge railways their engines tend to be pretty powerful, and broad track gauge irl is not 3m either. If you put stations in front to waypoint through and go at a slow speed it works. But irl railroads are not built like: Lets lay down one track than put the other perfectly next to it. On a hillside, two tracks (if they even would put two) would also be above each other
