- I just built a railway to a desert, and now it's time to get oil form the desert! Today, I'll be using Create Mod to build a large oil field complete with pumpjacks, storage tanks, power generation, and a loading station to put the oil onto my tanker train that I made in the last video.

For fuel, you can turn the crude oil into gasoline or even diesel and get a tier 18 steam engine.
Not useful but a cool thing you could do.

@@ag6778 Gasoline is another word for Petroleum which is short for Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) Fun fact: the reason gasoline became a word for LPG is because of that part where it says gas.
@Sk3tchedLexi LPG isn't gasoline, it's usually propane. If you've ever seen a vehicle that runs on LPG then you can see the need for a pressurized fitting, unlike gasoline where you can just pour it in.

By the way, the Factory Must Grow, when you update it, it gets access to a better form of electricity so you might want to go and update all of your electrical items to the new stuff. It even accounts for Voltage and Wattage, so you need to make sure you use resistors to limit electrical flow for certain machines
I do have TFMG updated to the include it's electrical stuff which definitely looks better - I'm just waiting to invest into setting it up until I make a dedicated power plant somewhere

This is some serious process-tech-porn. Last time I attempted anything like this I tried to use incompatible mods to create a simple fluid valve and I bricked a whole save.
Currently on a pack I built to play with some friends, and while I couldn't get The Factory Must Grow to work, we have another Create Mod with a similar Oil Well Functionality so I'm excited to start work on an Oil Field of my own.
This's been great inspiration for that project!

@@fiff7 tried all of them for the version we're on, none of them work. But it really doesn't matter, only wanted that mod for the oil wells and we have them through a different mod, so there's no real loss.

Hey Sbeev! I had an idea while looking at some old machines. Back in the olden days, when a farmer needed rotational force, he'd use a traction engine. A large steam engine. The problem for many presented itself that they're quite hard to move, the large ones. So they would connect the steam engine to some wheels under it and it could move under its own power. So basically, I was thinking you could make one of those to get machines going in new places.
You should make that village by the oil field a colony, using a desert pack it could be really cool
I think an individual person can only have one colony, so he'd have to abandon his first one to make a desert one
@@ThineRomanEmpiracle Can it not be increased via the config or is it a hard limit. Otherwise you could build the buildings you want in creative and cannon them back into the world, then fill em with regular villagers and call it good enough.
You can turn the whole silo into a tank by using hoses to place/drain oil from them, although it might be a little too late

I'm going to say that the flare in the oil pumping stations are for natural gas, not the crude oil itself. It's because natural gas also can appear in oil fields.

23:50 Technically, flare stacks irl burn off the gasses that are often collected alongside crude oil, usually methane, but not the oil itself. I do agree that it would be cooler lol.

Sbeev building cool stuff is a highlight of my week
14:45 I learned that sometimes you need to use a filter item and use the actual "tile" of the liquid instead of the bucket for modded liquids. Your method definitely works in the majority of cases though! If it ever comes down to it though, definitely give the tile version of the liquid a try by dragging it from JEI/MEI into the filter

The formwork block im guessing is like how we do it irl with making a giant box in the shape of what we need then filling it with concrete from the top and letting it dry to hold its shape

You should upgrade your backpack, it's relatively cheap and very worth it.
I think the point of the formwork block is that if you combine it with rebar you get a rebar formwork block which is (to my knowledge) the only way to get rebar concrete. When I used concrete on a small scale in my world (regular tfmg concrete, not rebar concrete) I just poured it out of a bucket going layer by layer as I made the concrete, occasionally waiting for it to solidify.

I’m always fascinated by how you build everything to look like a factory. How do you get the blocks to be slightly random? Like the sand around the train tracks are all slightly different colors like they’re dirty?
There was a tool for that I can’t remember its name but you essentially put in a bunch of blocks and it randomizes their placements based on the ratios you specify. He may have talked about it when he was doing some of the larger brick buildings, but I know I’ve seen it ingame

Ah I noticed Sjin is also doing a steampunk style minecolonies play through, it seems you are also specking out your base for almost a pvp style defense with the german style naval emplacement you have going on. Now I understand that Sjin himself has been trying out a multiplayer content creator involved minecolonies pvp series on and off. But, it seems to be running into issues such as motivation and drive. Now both of you are clearly able to maintain your two series independent of multiplayer therefore I believe that a pvp style series where a steampunk mine-colonies war might be possible for the future for both of you. Why not reach out to Sjin and ask if he wants to try a multiplayer content creator mine-colonies war?

I'm surprised you don't disable sandstorms, it's the two settings alongside block destruction I always turn off in the weather mod, also the blaze burner with a straw looks like a pale blaze wearing one of those beer hats.

you can create crimsite using iron nuggets and then crush the crimsite in to iron for your steel generation

Never played with create before, more of a 1.7.10 and 1.12.2 GT guy, but this looks sweet. may have to give it a shot after dj2&factorio2.0...too many games and too little time. great video!
I love these "realistic" factory/processing line setups. I had almost done that in dj2, but it ended up not working too well. but, I think create may be my next best option when I have time
