Here in Brazil we call redfoots 'Jabutitinga' and the cherryheads 'Jabutipiranga'.
It is more common to find them near wild fruit trees, they actually are great seeds disperses. But they can't be found in cold-winter regions of Brazil. :(

Hello Kenan , I have rescued a red foot maybe 6-8 years of age today and I've noticed his eyes are weeping and I can hear him wheezing a bit and every now and again a cough , as well his beek / nose has split :( are these signs of low humidity and calcium ? My son and I watch you all the time and come to you for you solid advice .

Correct me if I’m wrong. But not all Cherryhead tortoises have red heads right? Brazilian Cherryheads are the ones that keeps the red heads??

I have a very friendly cherry head who likes to be pet on the head. Maybe it's because I pet him too much but his head is becoming white and dry. His enclosure is properly humid. Should I be worried?
I have a juvenile cherry head tortoise, I live in Lincoln Nebraska and I plan to keep her outside in summer, but I’m worrying she is sick. She does not have swollen eyes and doesn’t have noes discharge but she is always in her hide she rarely comes out to eat so I move her in front of her food and then she eats away but she is always hiding. Pretty soon I am building a much better giant enclosure so please tell me if anything is wrong

hi mr kenan, i just bouht 11 months cherry head, and i noticed that the head is a bit faded with yellow color, is it possible that this is a crossbreed of redfoot? tried to cotton swab the head and arms, but still not that red. may i ask your opinion pls? im a bit disappointed, but i think she is healthy. thank you

I have three cherry heads one yearling and two hatchlings. My yearlings through i can't seem to keep her head red. It looks dried out but i bath her every day in non tap water and she has staga moss in most of her houses witch she digs in to regularly and sleeps in most nights. I don't know how to get that beautiful color back for her. What would you recommend?
Hello Kenan, I'm a reptile lover just like yourself. I own a red foot juvenile tortoise, and was wondering if you knew any good ways to keep a tortoise's beak in good condition. I'm currently using a slate for my tortoise to eat off of so they scrape their beak on it while they eat. Any ideas?

I'm planning on leaving my red foots out this winter but they will need a heat box. Possibly, could you make a video describing how you made them? Size and all? I am trying to find my female redfoot tortoise. she was stolen along w/ her son Feb 11. She was pregnant & her mate (cherry-head-redfoot of 21 yrs as my pets in large compound, is devastated. As are the other yougsters. She had orange paint @ the front of her shoulder skirt. Please let me know if you find them. Her name is Jeeze, The son is Etley, !0 " w/ raised scutes
Maybe I should aim for red foods because of size. In California, Napa it gets hot and dry in the summer(and humid sometimes) and winter it gets really cold and rainy.. I also see raccoons, possums, and cats so I’m afraid of getting a small cherry head because it might get attacked.

I really want a turtle. I had one as a kid but let it go in the pond that was up the road it was more happier there and at least it was a pet that wouldn't run away lol

I have a female red foot, roughly seven years old. She sometimes makes a "clucking" sound. Any idea what this means in tortoise speak? She also makes a heavy breathing sound. It's not the hiss like when she's scared, but a rhythmic air movement.
it is constipated. soak him more often for at least 20 minutes in warm water. my tort use to do that to.

Kenan, my hermann baby has stopped eating and all she wants to do is sleep... but when i bring her out and put her on my floor she runs everywhere so i dont think she is unwell.

I think they sometimes get protein in the wild but while in captivity the don't really need it.

Jennifer Crumpler misters. Or atomizers. Add lots of broad leaf plants. Preferably plants that prefer wet soil, being sure to keep the groud saturated around the plants. Good cover and a light mist.

I live in Greece at summer the temperature get up to 40'C and at winter the temperature drops at -5'C
What tortoise is good for me?? I have a big garden with 5 Greek tortoises
