I love my 4 Golden Greeks. They all have such individual personalities! I turned my entire back yard into their habitat, and just tightened up the fence line.
For me the foxes will get them 💀

Just one thing I'd point out is that some weeds can be toxic such as "Ragwort", which is known to kill horses!! So while tortoises generally can avoid toxic plants on their own, it's best to know what weeds are toxic and work to eradicate them.

If you check out youtube videos of Indian Star tortoises you'll find most of them kept in worse conditions and are just fed tomatoes and cucumber all day.

Hey Kenan Thankyou for this informative work , we only bought our first yr old from a pet supermarket 1 year ago today & sice rescued 3 more from owners ignorant of the basics re feed , lighting and housing just for starters. Chief carer Alex has gleamed as much knowledge re these lovable creatures but a ‘ nose bubble ‘ eminating from 5 yr old Erica (spur thigh ) , had us visiting the Vetinary whom has ran blood & swab tests because of potential respiratory disease - apparently contagious , rife and potentially very dangerous at least in england or north west Europe. SO I was going to ask you re foliage as bedding because of fungicidal bacteria - then you do explain the warm climate advantages of Florida ! Instead I’ll hope others in less dry places are aware as the Pet Superstore - great on care advice but surprisingly in this ‘ risk prevention society ‘ , failed to mention anything of this nature. We’ll definitely look at more of yours - Big Appreciation from Wessexshire Post- Rock Tortoise Co operative 🇨🇳

Im getting a Russian tortoise tomorrow. Not many people do videos on them. Im getting mine for $80 and they dont get big. Females maybe get 10 inches at most I think.

They are NOT strict herbivores, i have one, before she was big enough to be full time outdoors, she used to push my cats out of the way to get at the cat food! now she is full time outdoors and eats stuff like dandelions and clover in the grass and other leaves that i give her, vine leaves, cabbage and lettuce, but she will very happily eat bacon or chicken scraps too and i think if you kept still long enough she would eat your fingers or toes! ruclips.net/video/dvvcu__MaCY/видео.html
