    I was just going to go get a red foot yesterday. I am still trying to get supplies as I dont want to bring him home unprepared.
    I am so glad I found your channel!
    The local store recommended this coconut substrate. Would thst be something you would recommend also?
    I can not find the substrate you used.

    • @NJPExotics
      @NJPExotics  3 года назад

      Happy you found me too! Finer beddings like the coconut substrate are ok but they offer also at pet stores something called “forest floor” its a cyrpess like blend like what i use. Now where i get my bedding is in larger bags of STRICTLY cypress at home depot. You just wanna be sure its 100% and has bo added dyes or fertilizers to it its great for the price too!

    If you use a tortoise table do you have to put plastic over it to maintain the moisture?

    Do red foots and cherry heads have the same care? Like diet and stuff because I only find care about red foots and not cherry heads.

    What substrate did you use?

  • @DeciSpades
    @DeciSpades 3 года назад +1

    There is one at my local petstore that's been there for months. I want so bad to take him home.. But the high humidity seems so hard for me and I wouldn't know where to begin. My ball python is hard enough for me. I have a russian torotise and so I have the basics down for that one.

    • @NJPExotics
      @NJPExotics  3 года назад

      That’s always tough when you see the same one for sale for so long! I feel that! But as far as the humidity issues go check out the reptile fogger video i just posted it may help you out! So easy to make and can help fix some issues i hope!

    Hello, I was told not to place anything they can climb on in the enclosure, (young ones) they can flip over, you may not be there to help them.??

    • @NJPExotics
      @NJPExotics  2 года назад +1

      On a flat terrain there is more a likelihood to get stuck. But since mine is on a more unleveled terrain I see no issue with them flipping back over. I have witnessed the tortoise upside down 2-3 times ever since having and within a minute or 2 I have watched to make sure they were able to flip over! They are super independent built solid little ones! But yes it’s good to be cautious with them and not have something in there that constantly causes a problem

    • @NJPExotics
      @NJPExotics  3 года назад

      GREAT QUESTION! Tough to know truly their scutes have growth rings but it’s not like a tree’s rings and can’t use that as a way to determine age there is not a true way to tell some can give estimates based on health, growth and so on but without proper records you’ll never truly know exactly

    I feel layering these rocks is dangerous for him; also the insulation is not needed and tiny fibres that come off that it extremely harmful. Plexiglass around would be more safer.
