I just got a redfoot on Tuesday!!! It’s so adorable!! smaller than yours right now. Your video’s convinced me that I needed one lol let’s see more of Daisy! I plan on building this kind of enclosure for it this week ☺️ thanks for the help
Omg thats so great to hear! They are wonderful! Daisy is definitely going to get more vid time! Have some fun stuff to update! Keep tuning in! Enjoy your new friend!!
I was just going to go get a red foot yesterday. I am still trying to get supplies as I dont want to bring him home unprepared. I am so glad I found your channel! The local store recommended this coconut substrate. Would thst be something you would recommend also? I can not find the substrate you used.
Happy you found me too! Finer beddings like the coconut substrate are ok but they offer also at pet stores something called “forest floor” its a cyrpess like blend like what i use. Now where i get my bedding is in larger bags of STRICTLY cypress at home depot. You just wanna be sure its 100% and has bo added dyes or fertilizers to it its great for the price too!
Hello I’m getting a redfoot this week and im planning on his enclosure. I have a question regarding the humidifier you’re using…..does it give out cold air or warm air?
There is one at my local petstore that's been there for months. I want so bad to take him home.. But the high humidity seems so hard for me and I wouldn't know where to begin. My ball python is hard enough for me. I have a russian torotise and so I have the basics down for that one.
That’s always tough when you see the same one for sale for so long! I feel that! But as far as the humidity issues go check out the reptile fogger video i just posted it may help you out! So easy to make and can help fix some issues i hope!
GREAT QUESTION! Tough to know truly their scutes have growth rings but it’s not like a tree’s rings and can’t use that as a way to determine age there is not a true way to tell some can give estimates based on health, growth and so on but without proper records you’ll never truly know exactly
On a flat terrain there is more a likelihood to get stuck. But since mine is on a more unleveled terrain I see no issue with them flipping back over. I have witnessed the tortoise upside down 2-3 times ever since having and within a minute or 2 I have watched to make sure they were able to flip over! They are super independent built solid little ones! But yes it’s good to be cautious with them and not have something in there that constantly causes a problem
Cherry heads are smaller if you potentially have one of those they are smaller as adults compared to normal red foots not sure if that is what you for sure have but just to keep in mind
I feel layering these rocks is dangerous for him; also the insulation is not needed and tiny fibres that come off that it extremely harmful. Plexiglass around would be more safer.

A cuttlebone whirls perfect for keeping beaks filed and adding calcium to the diet
Yes!
If you use a tortoise table do you have to put plastic over it to maintain the moisture?

What substrate did you use?
Do red foots and cherry heads have the same care? Like diet and stuff because I only find care about red foots and not cherry heads.
Nobody ever talks about what water you use for red footed tortoises. I assume you can’t use chlorinated tap water?
how long to you leave the fog machine on
30 minutes twice a day!
Yes what substrate do you use and moss pleass
I use cypress mulch (just straight cypress mulch no additives) and sphagnum moss
How old was your red footed at that moment?
What UVA-b light assembly are you using? Need to know asap?
I have a fixture that goes a good length of the enclosure above with a UVB T8 fixture
I’ve had mine for a year but don’t know the age. How do I figure it out

Hello, I was told not to place anything they can climb on in the enclosure, (young ones) they can flip over, you may not be there to help them.??

@@NJPExotics Thank You!!!
these tortoises get big right?
They can reach up to 2 feet long and 20 lbs on average and also depending on the sex!
@@NJPExotics i have one and i’m worried ab it getting too big, do they all grow big or can some stay under 10 inches
How old is yours currently?

@@NJPExotics i haven’t had it since a hatchling, i would say it’s around a year old or so. it’s 4 by 3 inches
