Me too! I’ve wanted them for years, I’m planning an Atrium Garden with bio pond, and these little sweeties would be the perfect addition. Unless someone tells me otherwise.
My Redfoot is several months old. It took him awhile to stop hiding but he is just now learning to be more social with me and trust me more. Thank you for providing these helpful videos as I would like my Redfoot to be as healthy as possible.
Hi! I just got my red foot 2 weeks ago and he has been constantly hiding and staying in corners. Is that how yours was too? I was worried that it was not normal since he isn’t very active.
@@alexispulido8616 they hide a lot. My tortoise has since come out a lot more to bask in the sun and eat his food. I have even watched him drink water. It will take take. Im sure he comes out a lot more when I am not home as well.
My family in the Caribbean has these in our yard...my understanding tat the baby turtles are hunted by birds in the Caribbean so it is normal for them to want to hide under some greenery by a wall out of site the first months after they hatch.
this is my favorite kind of content not political not trying to push ads or do dangerous stuff for views or be a jerk on camera just a chill dude talking about reptiles
Great, as always! I love my redfoot, Agatha, and I think it's important to continue to check in with other keepers and experts to make sure I'm caring for her in the best way possible.
For a long time I thought I was only one of a very few that watched Bob Ross even though I can't paint a picket fence, this was back in the late '80's, early '90's.
Bro this Dude Kenan is awesome I got 0% knowledge of how to care for Sulcata and other species of Tortoise but since I started watching and following this Dude hell yah I think our Sulcata is happy now. Kamp Kenan thank you so much for these educational videos keep up and let me know how can we donate. This dude should have million subs because he did great man!!!
Awesome video Kenan! (Tip for those reading don't pay $15 for a tiny bit of substrate, you can get cypress mulch & composted pine bark at Home Depot for 1/3 the cost)
I just moved into a small apartment from my parents place with three big dogs. I have such a big hole in my heart without a pet but it’s so hard to guarantee a stable life for a dog or cat when you’re signing year long leases for tiny apartments… who knows if I’ll find another place that allows dogs. So i thought I’d look into other kinds of pets and the redfooted tortoise stood out as a great pet that doesnt require a huge backyard to be happy and healthy 🤗 but before i get my baby i wanna make sure im super prepared to be the best tortoise mama this side of the Mississippi
I'm excited for this episode, been wanting a red foot tortoise for a while now. Just the upload I needed ;) Thanks Kenan. I'll be looking into getting one in a few years when I'm ready.
Kenan, thank you sooo much. My daughter just bought a baby cherry head and your videos have been sooo super informative and helpful for us! Can't wait to see all your videos on their care
Thank you for this video.....I am newer to the tortoise hobby and have 2 beautiful redfoot cherry heads. There is so much conflicting information out there I’m happy to hear from someone as experienced as you.
Thanks kenan I've now made a deal with my step daughter that she can earn towards her enclosure, once shes done enough chores and earned all the necessities I promised I'd buy her the tortoise! We love the channel!
Thanks for this video. I’m from the Caribbean, Trinidad to be exact we’re very close to South America . Lots of yellowfoot ,redfoots and cherryheads down here. Great to know !!
Great video. Ive had my two for about 15 years. One has a red head; the other yellow. I learned a lot from this video. I will check out Flukers products. Once or twice a month I feed them dry organic dog food. I was told by person who raises Redfoot Tortoises that in the wild they have been seen eating in the gut of a dead antelope. They like meat. Since I don't have the proper meat I was told to try the dog food and they love it. I don't overdo it because I think too much protein is not healthy for them. They are happy and thriving outside all year round with a habitat enclosure to protect them from too much sun. We rarely get rain here in Los Angeles but if it does they enjoy coming out into it.
@@KampKenan I love getting your videos. That's the best way to start the day. I would love a tee shirt with Guapo and Lola on it. They are like an old married couple! I really enjoyed the video where you had jet lag and you had to stop Slinky from biting Guapo. Quick question- would Slinky eat him if he had a chance?
Very Nice! Thanks. Redfoots and Cherry Heads are awesome tortoises. I currently have 1 adult egg laying female and 2 Juveniles, one of which was supposed to be a male, but, so Sadly, so I am stuck here in Rural Mexico with 3 girls in search of a male. Wish me luck! They are awesome and live out doors all year. Smooth shells and eat like crazy. I love them.
Whenever I hear Kenan talking about his Mulberry leaves I want to sing. I’m not sure if you guys have the kids rhyme over there that we have in the UK, but I keep wanting to sing “here we go round the mulberry bush on a cold and frosty morning”
Hi I love your video. Thanks for Sharing. I am a new Red Footed owner. She is tiny just like yours. I have one question. How often do you change the substrate? Since it is so moist, do I need to worry about fungus? Thanks!
Coconut is in there to retain moisture. So if you are going for a species that needs a dry substrate you might be able to leave it out. If you need the moisture retaining property you will need to substitute its properties somehow. Not sure of a direct alternative. I know about the Snake discovery awesome mix but to if I recal corectly that still contains coconut.
Is it normal to see tiny white bugs in the substrate? I have two 4 year old red foot tortoises in a similar enclosure in your video that I keep in my patio. One day when I fed them, I noticed tiny white bugs. Are they a danger to my tortoises?
Could you do a video of the Florida box turtle. I have two and always watch your videos. I’m wanting to get a cherry as well. I have them housed outdoors year round and just want to get more animals !
Love your videos. I am getting my redfoot soon, and ordering the zoo med enclosure. Just one turtle, so do you think I need all that bedding and repta bark?
I just acquired a 1 year old red foot. At what age would they move out of this enclosure? Is this what you would recommend for a 1 yr old red foot? Also, need info on feed and lighting for 1 year old. Thanks!
Look into getting a endoscope for escapee, and picture taking. For less than $30 you can not go wrong, and you might being adding this to your must have equipment.
I dont even own a reptile to be honest but ive been watching how to care for them for years
Hahahaha well said
On the same page buddy 😂.
Me too! I’ve wanted them for years, I’m planning an Atrium Garden with bio pond, and these little sweeties would be the perfect addition. Unless someone tells me otherwise.
The more you know the better you can do.

You have my total approval for the Bob Ross segment. The world needs more Bob Rosses in all kind of fields.
For a long time I thought I was only one of a very few that watched Bob Ross even though I can't paint a picket fence, this was back in the late '80's, early '90's.
Torts around troughs is about the best thing I have ever seen. They are so cute! Great set up and explanation, thank you!
Around and in the food🤣
