Me too, first five minutes i was like "How it devolve from great houses into becoming a clone empire ? where it was ruled by 3 clones. the youth, the middle man and the elderly ?" Then i realized, Damn ! that is a different author, different universe.
You actually want HBO to start producing serial killer docuseries over and over? Netflix just makes garbage in order to fill their repertoire, because its consumers are a bottomless pits that binge watch entire series in a matter of days.
I now i get it why the sisterhood was comfortable with House Corrino ruling those guys are weak and easily influenced. The Sisterhood are feeding him some bullshit and seems like Desmond Hart is not even telling the truth. Who he is is the question but his purpose seems clear he wanna fight the sissterhood bacause he see them replaced the machines are still controlling everyone.
That's my main gripe: every leader's a clueless, witless wimp. The Sisterhood in the books thrives in a universe where strong men seemingly have all the power. This Corrino Emperor or Baron Harkonnen could not manage a 7/11. Making them incompetent lessens the BG's accomplishments as well.
I liked the first episode. I just hope that they move the plot a bit to the edge. More Brutal, More Twisty. Let them sisters fight with the hands of other people like they should. And push those peoples into their limits. For sure I will watch ep2.
@@jaychris7188 **laugh** I don;t mean disrespect. But, from physical profile and actually that calmness, I think if there's going to be movie about Amazon, He is a good candidate for playing Jeff Bezos.
For perspective: the "schools" are all in their infancy when compared to what theyll become in thebtime of the events of the first Dune novel (paul atreides time). So the bene jesserit are portrayed fsctuon for this season or this show. Next season it could possibly be the Mentats, or Spacing Guild or awirdmasters of ginaz, etc.
Travis Fimmel Character Desmond Hart from watching first episode. Seem very similar to Caleb in the brilliant Raised by Wolves series, which unfortunately was cancelled after two seasons 😭
I’m thoroughly confused on what this weird “pyromancy” power could be. The best I’ve heard is that it’s something like a time delayed poison, but the difficulty there is twofold: firstly, how did Desmond Hart infect Kasha? So far as we can tell he never had any physical contact with her, either directly or indirectly as he did with the kid (passing the toy back to him). I don’t believe he was closer than 10 meters in the throne room. Secondly, if it was time release, what was with that look of almost pained focus as the kid died in front of him?
Is it just me? If he already died? If the sisters can’t read his mind. And he use that toxic power like the 1 they use in the book to wiped out human in earth? Maybe his a machine?
For 10,000 years, the same ruling family? Despite the war, technology does not seem to have advanced? One of the problems of the Empire is stagnation: technological, political, economic.
As long as they don’t go full religion: Herbert’s best approach was that religion destroys civilizations, corrupts morals and makes everyone an idiot 😅
Or maybe, just maybe, humanity? You get that after the war, houses fought for the spice? I'm just guessing, but I don't think that this show is for you.
technology and human advancement is stagnant in the dune universe until after the rule of the GOD emperor Leto II. So there being the same tech for centuries is not an example of lazy writing it is actually perfectly in line with dune universe lore.
@@Destroyer3212-gv2ss Not from Frank-this isn’t Dune. Does he have the same writing style as his father? No. Has he written anything of value outside of Dune? Also no. He’s not bringing creativity to the table; he’s simply riding on his father’s world-building.

I was a little worried this show would be crap but episode 1 got me hooked and keen for more.
It was crap except for the production values. We are hooked (for now) just because it's Dune

Why and when have companies ever done that? It's really only Netflix that has done that. They make more money releasing weekly
Never been HBO's method. Sunday night has always been HBO's appointment Tv night since before Sopranos.
