    In the interest of breaking things, Barbed Shocker gets rid of the opponent's marshal when on the play.
    Deathleaper, Terror Weapon + one of 3.5 goblin guide cards= turn 1 win (also nice as marshal has flash vs hand disruption)
    As others have mentioned, Blistering Firecat. Other card found was Embodiment of Fury
    Frilled Mystic is the best way to prevent a turn 1 win (or ertai resurected for a different color identity) Note: this doesn't work if the cost reduction happens as soon as it becomes your 1st turn. In this case, Subtlety is your best bet.
    Because these marshals start in hand, abilities like bloodrush can be used.
    I love finding new formats and getting to brainstorm what stuffs are viable- Thank you for this!

      If turn 1 wins are encouraged, can it really be called broken 🤪😉

    Been playing this with friends casually, it’s great. Would really love to see this take off. Have the recent bans in EDH affected the format?

    sounds cool but what is keeping me from picking Blistering Firecat as my Marshall, attack and Lightning Bolt turn 1?

    • @Anarchapal
      @Anarchapal 10 месяцев назад +1

      Well, nothing, but it only works when you're on the play, and you need to draw the one lightning bolt in your opening hand
      Else, you just lose your marshall turn 1 while your opponent can still sinergyse the hell out of their deck (but yeah, Blistering Firecat should be banned in this format)

    • @georgebillings8774
      @georgebillings8774 10 месяцев назад

      @@Anarchapal There's a lot more than just lightning bolt that will win the game with blistering firecat. You can make it a pretty consistent turn 1 kill. The only good thing is you can run gutshot for the mirror match, but that could lead to a very warped format.

      @mxes5938 I made a Blistering Firecat deck for an example. It's very on-theme with this Quickdraw format. deckstats.net/decks/230336/3330916-blistering-firecat-rdw-quickdr

      @@TerryTags the deck looks awesome :) it seems that some kind of interaction is important when you're on the draw so your opponent just doesn't do the same. I'd probably include a Pyrokinesis on top of the Spirit Guide for this

    Interesting idea for a quickplay format.
    You might wanna throw Cabal Paladin on the banlist though (or at least banned as Marshal)

      that's so gross

    • @TerryTags
      @TerryTags  10 месяцев назад +2

      Why put him on the banlist? I agree that this format is supposed to be a fast match. Turn 1 kills are perfectly fine -- in fact, that's the point! If you're looking for a long game with strategy and control and setting up the long game, this ain't it. Drop your marshal down Turn 1, and GO OFF on your opponents. ;) It's high noon, and you're reaching for your revolver, so ... quick! DRAW! Pew pew pew! Done! Great match, shuffle up and play again!

    • @tetra654
      @tetra654 10 месяцев назад +2

      @@TerryTags I'm specifically thinking of a manaless cheerios strategy (i.e. no lands, all free spells, artifacts in this case). That's a turn one kill every time, barring removal (or, I suppose, Providence). Especially powerful if they go first.
      I feel it would warp what kinds of decks are viable in the format.
      I guess if the goal is to pop off first and foremost then the extreme case may be acceptable too. Especially given that it automatically loses to immediately deployed removal.

    lol at any of these decks getting to turn 2.
    Urabrask and 1 mana red instants and sorceries that cycle = turn 1 kill
    Cabal Paladin and 0 Mana artifacts = turn 1 kill
    Jhoira Turn 1 draw your deck, Thassa's Oracle
    Vedalken Archmage same deck
    Queza, Augur of Agonies you might get some turn 1 kills with Street Wraith, Gitaxian Probe etc., but probably not consistent enough
    Grand Arbiter Augustin just locking the table turn 1 or winning turn 1
    Urza, Lord High Artificer very likely infinite turn 1

    You always start off with one combo piece in hand that you can cast for free and you only need to do 10 damage. Whoever goes first has an overwhelming advantage. At the very least this needs Yu-Gi-Oh's 'can't attack on the first turn' rule and even that is probably not enough.

      This format seems like a blast. I love the encouragement of turn 1 wins.
      I do think anything that is 100% turn 1 win (barring free interaction) should get the ban hammer. Not sure how many of those there are, but Jhoira, Weather light Captain comes to mind.
      0 lands. All 0 drop artifacts that add mana/draw. Thassa's Oracle.

    • @TerryTags

      I don't think instant T1 wins should be banned, because T1 wins are encouraged in Quickdraw. This format is designed to play quickly. My wife and I designed it during the pandemic lockdown because my autistic son couldn't have the patience for a game which required long set-up, and/or complicated late-game strategy. If people wanted to make this a competitive format, the games would often end in a coin-flip of which person went first. But that's okay, it's literally in the name. It's a shootout. Not to beat a dead horse, but Turn 1 kills are fine. :)

      @@TerryTags that is an interesting perspective to take.
      In my perspective, I prefer games that are more catered towards skill/knowledge for purposes of optimal play and deck building strategy. When reduced to a coin flip, that is diminished heavily to opening hand free interaction.
      If not taken to the extreme cases however, this format seems super fun! I can see potential like using Hazoret as commander and playing super fast burn to empty your hand.
      Or possibly Fynn, the Fangbearer with all the 1 drop death touch creatures to poison out the opponent.

    You should probably ban Crashing footfalls.
    Bloodbraid elf as Marshal, Crashing Footfalls, 28 Forests Baby. 3/4 of the time it works every time. (Cause no mulligans)
    But in all seriousness, with such a small curve, Cascade/Discover is gonna be pretty strong, especially since you can freecast your Marshal. By Banning Footfalls, you would remove the best wincon.
    You could also ban Bloodbraid Elf and Geological appraiser if you want to get rid of the two free Cascade/Discover Marshals.

      Duly noted, thanks! Not sure if you were being hyperbolic with the 28 Forests, but this format does have a 12 basic land deckbuilding restriction [shrug] sorry? :) But yeah I agree that this format is *supposed* to be a fast match. Turn 1 kills are perfectly fine! That's the point!

      @@TerryTags I didn't notice there was a land restriction, but you could still build a deck with cascade mechanics. I would say that there are plenty of other ways to win this format turn one, but if that's what you want, go for it.
