Hey Guys, awesome video, you're the best one out there doing this kind of content ! I have a 14 FLHTK and I'm trying to find a rebuild kit with damper rods and the like. I can't find anything, I have never had my forks out that might be part of the problem mine being a Rushmore bike. Can you steer me in the right direction? Thanks a lot !!
absolutely brother. I ride a 1983 gold wing and many of your vids i can use to at least understand the principals of what I'm trying to do, figure out how to adapt your super knowledge to my application...thanks for your great work! I'm now subscribed!!
@RyanUrlacher this helped a lot! I hit a deer about a year ago and had a local shop do the repairs while I was healing up. NEVER AGAIN. I basically had to redo everything he touched. A plethora of bad work on the front end. This is much easier than I thought. Thanks again Ryan you're a huge help, my man.
Honestly, the progressive monotube fork upgrade was the best upgrade I've done to my bike. Don't even waste your money on a rebuild kit. I have no braking dive, and huge confidence booster on rough roads. Complete game changer, I can't say enough good things about it.
I know this is a three year old video, but was I the only person that saw him install that axle cap that is marked OUT, if you watch real close, he installed it backwards. Watching this to help fix my Dad's bike. Thanks for sharing!
I just put legends axeo fronts and revo on the rear of my 15 street glide special. Night and day difference. No drifting in the corners, until you drag the floorboards lol. The single best investment I've ever made on my bikes over the years. Highly recommend legends suspension
@throttle shots what don't you like about them? I found out that all aftermarket shocks had bad reviews, even ohlins. I'm completely satisfied. Time will tell
I've never heard someone use the word THERE so much in my life ! 😂🤣 We love all your videos! Thanks for all the help and tips you're always providing us. Great channel!!
I would love to see a similar video with an inverted fork such as in the low rider ST. There are no good videos on the market today and the only video has the key aspects skipped, or out of frame on the video. Your videos are always awesome and very handy. Consider covering the newer models of softtails with the inverted front forks.
My top cap was leaking several years ago and I didn't have time to address it myself so it went to the Stealership. The guy replaced the top cap oring and he must've used a MASSIVE 21mm wrench to tighten it up. When I decided overhauling them 8 years later I found out exactly how tight he tightened it! I COULDN'T GET IT LOOSE AFTER LOWERING IT AND RE-TIGHTENING THE PINCH BOLT! I tried a heat gun & torch, wouldn't budge and was spinning inside the lower tree. Being out of options I opened up the slot via a chisel enough to allow me to place a piece of sandpaper inside it and then shoved the fork tube back into the lower tree and tightened the piss out of the pinch bolt. THANK GOD it didn't slip and broke free with the aide of a piece of pipe over the wrench which gave me another 2' of leverage that I needed. SUCCESS!! Thanks for sharing your video, it was very helpful even though I was working on an older Road Glide it was still very helpful! 👍

Great video....Im putting chrome lowers on my 09 SG this weekend...Why couldnt you just drain oil from the Fork damper retaining bolt when you had the fork off of bike instead of the little phillips drain screw????????

Hi excellent video. Question l have a 91 flhtcu and l want to change the oil but it has a crossover steel line on top that goes to the left fork which has a box that seems to be hooked up to a solenoid of some kind? Have you ever worked on this type of set up? If you could give me a heads up on how to do this fork oil change ld really appreciate it... thanks Chuck
Just an fyi if you leave the fork on the bike and drop the fork 1/2 below top triple tree that acts as a stop when it pops up then pull out wrench and it pops up again then just loosen clamp and slide fork tube out. I just did this by myself on my 2000 flhrci. Not sure how I am going to put back together by myself but I’ll let ya know
Great video, I have an 2001 Electra Glide standard. With 50,000 on it. I think it's time!! Is it basically the same Job? & Once the ignition switch is out , I take it you can turn the forks without a misaligning problem? Thx brother for all the help!!

The pinch bolt for the front axle that says "out" on it, you mentioned that it goes out, however he does the opposite. 26:46. I guess that doesn't matter?
I am fixing to purchase the progressive fork lowering kit for my 2019 sgs, my question is, I only have 10k on the bike, so I need to drain the fork oil and replace the seals, or could I just drop the springs in? I know they have a drop in kit but I don’t really want to use the shorter Spring included in that kit. Any info would greatly be appreciated. Thanks

Good job guys, gotta say I had a big laugh when I saw the claw hammer! I am looking to lower my 2012 Street Glide 1". I replaced my 18" with a 19" front wheel. Love the wheel but the front just seems too high. I was thinking about doing it myself, after what the dealer was wanting to charge me. Thanks for posting this!

I have a technical question I have a 1998 FXSTC did a fork drop about 4 inches I’m just wondering if I use less fork oil then the OEM specification or is there a rule to how much fork oil is used to the inch? Thank you in advance🤙🏽
That small phillips bolt is actually J.I.S Japanese industrial standard they are deeper and allow for tightening "torque " the forks are made in Japan by KYB ,THANKS for video
@6:01 in Harley’s defense…..they didn’t build the forks with their “infinite wisdom” Their fork tubes are from Japan. They are built by Showa, the same company Honda,Kawasaki,Yamaha, everyone uses on their bikes.
A great video, thank you. You guys really are exceptional group to help others so much do our own maintenance. I didn't understand the tube/spacer you had to cut with the hack saw. Did you cut to match the old one? I'm surprised thats part of a kit thats for specific model years.

I have inverted forks and had them redone because I hit a bump and the one came undone meaning it unscrewed after getting them redone the same one came unscrewed again any advice or thoughts on why it did it again
Hey Ryan I’ve been watching LAB videos for years but now I’m a new subscriber. This question does not pertain to your most recent video it has to do with tires and rims. I own a 2016 Softail Slim S and was wondering if it is possible to add a larger size rear tire to the stock rim without changing any of the stock parts of the rear wheel assembly including of course the rear rim?
To make sure I understand, when reworking forks, the kits do not come with spacers so you have to make your own? How is the length of the spacer determined?
The 15+ bikes are a lot different. No drain screws! One side has a cartridge. Fender is easier to remove though. Would really like to see a Rushmore video. Ryan, Isn’t your SG due for a rebuild? 😎
Depending on the year of your bike, the rebuild w/fork oil change is to be done every 50K miles. If you ride in dusty/dirty conditions, do it more often.
What is the deal about conventional on right side which is the side every video I've seen does and cartridge on the right which no one has yet to show me
Use a not driver to get the drain screw off, One tap and it’ll come off, I just did some fork seals can’t believe using a screwdriver with a socket on it, 🤣
**I HOPE THIS HELPS MANY BIKERS OUT THERE SAVE MONEY AND WRENCH ON THEIR OWN BIKE!!

what did you mean by 11oz for a fork with out a dampener we removed the dampener you lost me on that at the 20:14 mark

excellent video ,getting ready to do my own on a '17 RG ultra
Nice!!
Very cool. I have to rebuild the forks on my Softail. Looks pretty straight foward.
great video as usual! you can also use a 1 3/8 crowsfoot to torque those fork cap bolts

That looks like the same brand I had installed on my 19 flhxs. Had the rears done also.
How do you like them?
Oscar is VERY happy with it.
Yep same kit, I also am very happy. PA did my rears at Daytona, used my bike for a video. Nice guys, treated me well
Great video. Does your kit include an option to add plus 2" to the fork length?
Not that I know of

Their fork tubes are from Japan. They are built by Showa, the same company Honda,Kawasaki,Yamaha, everyone uses on their bikes.

This video has just taught me to just let the dealership do it lol
Hahaha. Yaaaaaa. Me too!
Is the 03 fatboy forks the same way as what your doing here
Is this the pro action kit?
Is this the same as a road glide ?
Is there going to be a follow up with the improvement on the suspension upgrade ?
He's loving it
Excellent! 👍

Hello guys ..
I want to know what size fork oil seal for street glide 103..??
To make sure I understand, when reworking forks, the kits do not come with spacers so you have to make your own? How is the length of the spacer determined?
Your kit will come with a spacer. The company/kit you buy will tell you what length to cut it to. Or it may come pre-cut.
The 15+ bikes are a lot different. No drain screws! One side has a cartridge. Fender is easier to remove though. Would really like to see a Rushmore video. Ryan, Isn’t your SG due for a rebuild? 😎
We will be doing a Rushmore bike! Yes, my bike likely!! 👍 Stay tuned and sub. I just need to decide what kit we are going to use.
where r u located?
Thanks for the video guys. Hope I don't need to use this new knowledge.
LOL

Lifesaver
Thanks!
Where did u get the rebuild kit from?
Revzilla. Here is a link: bit.ly/3V95mJK
@@RyanUrlacher you said in the video your kit came with a new damper rod - the link to the kit you sent me doesn't have a damper rod 🤔
Is that the PA kit? Any ride review?
Oscar is VERY happy with it. Pro Action
Thanks
Why did you not need the fluid valve?

Where can you get a chrome kit for forks for a heritage 2014.
HD website sells them, or try Utah Harley Davidson
Use a nut driver to take the drain plug off, they’re only seven dollars at Harbor freight and it only takes one person to operate it!
That hammer looks like the one in my wifes pink tool set for the house
Mine does not have a a drain hole. 2015 road king
I just did my front forks 3 days ago. Wasn't hard at all.
1⅜ inch or 35mm socket.
Hi
Rebuild with ledgen suspension.
Use a not driver to get the drain screw off, One tap and it’ll come off, I just did some fork seals can’t believe using a screwdriver with a socket on it, 🤣
😂😂😂 yah sure
