    Very Good Video ED! I also bought the DK Custom Products Nex Gen shocks for my 2020 Tri Glide except I purchased the 14 inch shocks and the intimidators for the front shocks.... I'm puting on some other accessories first! I'm Looking forward to a Much Better Ride! Ride SAFE! From SouthWest Michigan's Extremely Bad Roads ?

    Thanks for the video. I have a 2021 Tri-Glide and just installed the 14" Nexgen rear shocks from DK. I have been thinking about installing the intiminators on the front. I have the rake kit from cut n shoot customs on it and it made a huge difference in the handling. After watching your video, I think I will get the intiminators and install. The nexgen rear shocks have been great. The wife says it is a completely different ride now. I am going to do like you and take the forks off and take to the dealer to install the valves.

      Thanks for the comment. Shortly after I installed the intiminators I installed the next GEN 13 inch tri glide shocks. I did a video on it, which will be out later. The intimidator’s are a huge compliment to the rear shocks. Standing alone on the tri glide without new rear suspension. You can still feel the difference when the front end has an event. (Pothole)
      Lot of times it is quickly followed by the rear wheel (wheels) but once in a while, you have a standalone event with the front forks and you can really tell the difference. But when I put the rear next GEN 13 inch shocks on the rear it was a world of difference. Unbelievable compared to the OEM shocks. I am doing a video on the difference which will be out at some point. The intiminators would be fantastic on a two wheel bike and way more noticeable. I have been told by many people that I should get a rake kit but I don’t think I will but I have heard so much good things about them. I could have lived with the OEM shocks, but the wife was having difficulty with all the ruff riding ,so I decided something had to be done.

      I bought that car lift about 15 years ago. It has a center deck on it. And yes, I use it to put my trike up and out of the way. I can put a small vehicle underneath it when it is up I paid around $3000 to get it to my house 500 alone in shipping but it has been worth it’s weight in gold over the years I have stored many motorcycles up there during the winter months, I bought it in Kansas City. The manufacturer is no longer in business. Shortly after I bought it, they went out of business. I’m lucky I got the left before they did.

    Question to you sir, what type of torque wrench did you use in order to torque the front fork pinch bolts . And some of the other difficult bolts during the front fork replacement process . During your video it appeared you used loc-tite on all the screws and bolts is that correct? Additionally, my 23 Tri-Glide did NOT have the little carter pin on my front axle bolt , we noted you tapped out at 1:35
    Please coach me through this.

    • @windsurfed1
      @windsurfed1  10 месяцев назад +1

      I used a 3/8 inch torque wrench from Harbor Freight Tools with extensions enough to get to the bolts. It worked really well. Also, I don’t know much about the 23 models but if you have a hole in the end of your axle like I do on mine and there should be a kotter key in there. If you don’t have a hole, then apparently the nut is made to just stay on Securely

    2 Questions... So how much was it $ for the shop labor and fork oil??? And did you inspect your front brake pad thickness/wear, How they look after all the miles you put on her?

    • @windsurfed1
      @windsurfed1  Год назад +1

      Order Fork oil with the order from dk custom which was a little over $27 for the fork oil.
      Fork labor to change oil (my oil) and drop in the intiminators and I purchase new fork seals ($18) was $245. Also no, I did not inspect front brake pads account about 3 months earlier I thought I needed new front brake pads since I am always using my front brakes, way more than the rear. I briefly looked at them from the outside and It look like I neeed new ones. I ordered new pads for the front and rear. When I went to replace them I found out I was totally wrong and they were only about half wore down to my amazement. So I just stuck the new pads in the drawer till I really need them.

      @@scottandrews2829 I took the forks off myself, took them down the shop and had them do it. I still had to pay $250 for that +199 for the intiminators.
      I got the next GEN 13 and Tri glide shocks and a convertible comfort lift kit. I had them set the shock on very soft and I actually lost 1/8 of an inch height in the rear. I kind of wondered what it would’ve been like it had, I left the original OEM shock mounts on Probably would’ve lost a lot more than 1/8 of an inch but oh well doesn’t really bother me it’s a beautiful ride.

    I commend you, I do my own work also.
    Couple suggestions, maybe you should try using a longer ratchet handle, it would make life a lot easier. You can unbolt that steering stabilizer. You shouldn't use your torque wrench as a pry bar. (Unbolting front wheel axel)
    What do those wings do for you above the lowers by the tank?

    • @windsurfed1
      @windsurfed1  Год назад +1

      Thanks for the comment. Sometimes I use a cheater bar if a need a longer handle. Yes, I probabley shoud have unbolted the sabilizer bar. But Oh, well. I really never even thought of it. I really can't remember using the torque bar for a pry bar? Those are call cooling wing deflectors. Designed to deflect air rushing into that area onto your engine to help keep it cooler. It also stops massive air rising up above the gas tank which really buffets your helmet at higher speeds. It reduced butteting 85%.

    Let us know if you can tell any difference in ride

    • @windsurfed1
      @windsurfed1  Год назад +1

      Will do. I also just installed some Nexgen 13 inch triglide shocks. I am putting together a video on that also. Be awhile before I get it out there. Went for a ride with just the intiminatosr the other day and there difinately quite a difference. Way much smoother when the front forks have an event alone. Also went for a ride today with both intiminators installed and the nexgen 13 inch triglide shocks and it was totally refreshing. Way smoother then the oem hydrolic shocks. Going to put together a short ride trying to hit every man hole cover and rough road I know, really giving these suspension products a test. It willl be short with my opinion. For the tri glide I think the intiminators should be installed alongside new shocks. The combination definately complements each other. It's hard to separate a front fork event without the 2 rear wheels, or one rear wheel having the same event (pot hole). On a 2 wheeler it would definately be worth the install alone without a complement of rear shocks. As it is with the TG certain front wheel events can be felt separated at times. And those times are amazing.
