The big thing about the magic of his old music is, Eminem used to be the boogeyman who lived under the beds of all the parents of White America, and part of his appeal was that he made commentaries on this and his place in the media with blistering intricacy and introspect, tearing the hypocritical and farcical nature of it apart. Unfortunately those days are long past, and you'll only appreciate his new stuff if you still want to hear what he has to say despite him no longer being the provocative media sensation that made him a pop culture icon, and having the same hunger that came with that.
He kinda declined when he started collabing with more pop singers than rappers. He also needs to chill out with the speedy flow for every song nowadays. I am still a huge fan of him and he is still the highest selling rapper of all time so he couldn't possibly fall off but its true tho.

How does a subject matter somehow become unrelatable just because you're an adult? That's like me saying because I am rich now, I can't relate to a song talking about struggling poor when I was poor as a kid.
This is a little bit of a stretch. Eminem always had dissed people. He was more creative back then because he was hungry to be heard and don't forget he used to do drugs. He's not the same Eminem but he's still the same Marshall Mathers meaning he's still the same person he was from the start but he just got sober and he matured a lot. Revival killed his career. Those flows on BME were on par with his older flows, but then he started doing the choppy flow in 2014. Also everyone go relisten to his verse on Bad Guy, not the first verse but the last verse. He explains his fall from grace right there. He’s more self aware than we think.

The reason why Eminem attacks the new generation of artists is completely understandable. Because ^rap^means literally rhythm&poetry, and what kids these days are doing is not that. It's trash. It's indefensible. It's laziness and lack of talent masquerading as "the new". What Gen-Z artists are doing is basically yelling a simple hook over and over a looping beast and going viral with millions of views. It's lazy, stupid, inferior music. When you point out this to Zoomers, they come with some of the most contrived excuses, like "it's a vibe", or "it sounds better". Well, if you think it's better because it sounds better than give the credit to the producers, and not the artist. Eminem got enraged because of all the hatred that he got for the infamous line "your booty is heavy duty like diarrhea" because people fogot the 2,539,781,032,944 fantastic songs and bars that he came up in his carrer, from "Stan" to "Renegage", while at the same time praising the albums of Zoomer artists that say *no* lyrics! It's very easy to not have "bad bars" when you don't write any bars in the first place! When all your "song" is a catch phrase that any 12 year-old could think of repeated over and over an infectious beat. *This* is what pissed Eminem, not necessarily the reception of Revival.
Shows Eminem can’t take criticism which hurts him blaming a generation won’t do him any better also there are lyrical rappers today like Conway the machine, cordae, Joyner Lucas, 38 speak, Benny the butcher etc
@@dwaynejpeterkin All the lyrical rappers that you mentioned have been praised by Eminem. In fact, Eminem is behind Griselda and has spent millions of Dollars of his own money promotion them. So I don't understand what your problem is. There is the meme about the "old man yelling at clouds", but put yourself in the old man's shoes. You take not even years, but decades of extreme hard work and practice to becoime exceptional at something, and then come some kids and receive more praise than you for just yelling a simple hook that even a child can come up with over and over a looping beat. It's literally that "Yeet!" skit from SNL. So you can't really blame Eminem for being bitter. Then, there is the fact that young people these days have NO respect for their elders. When Eminem was young and coming along back in the 90's he certainly respected the MCs that came before him and paved the way for him. Face it, dude: Eminem *IS* owed a certain amount of respect for who he is, and the kids don't give it to him which is why he is pissed off.

Artist change, gotta remember his old stuff he was on drugs. I personally love all of his work. The only album I didn’t care for was the one with walk on water.
Yeah, his last great album was Eminem Show, nearly 25 years ago. He's released three great albums and like 10 bad albums, some of which are some of the worst albums ever made (Encore and Revival). It seems weird to talk about him like he's the goat when you really look at the big picture. He's just not a creative or complex enough person to evolve his material. He thrived on technical rapping, shock value, and anger, so he just keeps doing that over and over as his music keeps getting worse and his style cornier.
Revival isn’t all bad. It’s by far his worst album. But some of it’s ok (Believe, Choraseptic, Arose…) But fr- Kamikaze was fucking sick. And MTBMB Side A&B was dope. Most fans of his are pretty die hard. He apologized for dissing Tyler & Earl (which he NVR DOES). His features are still always sick. So stfu. Em is of the goats, can’t be denied.
Your delusional if you think Eminem destroyed his career he's sold more albums than any other rapper in history 10 strieght number 1 albums in a row he's the goat
He ruined his legacy, but he’s still extremely popular, he just fucked up since revival, it still hasn’t been the same, but he is forever a goat, and is still loved to this day. He didn’t ruin a lot like a lot of other artist and Eminem will go on to remember him for his legacy, he just gets into his head.
This video is way too dramatic, get a grip. There are plenty of things I don’t like on Eminem’s recent albums but that’s just preference. The beats on MTBMB aren’t bad, I would just prefer to hear him over some boom bap ish. He’s had a ton of popular and talented features on his last couple projects but I want him to collab with just rappers, preferably some old school rappers. I mean why don’t we have an Eminem/Rakim collab? Or a Eminem/J Cole collab? Him and JID could be incredible! And why doesn’t he put Shady artists on his albums anymore? That would be a great look for them. But I mean this is all just preference. I still like a bunch of songs on his last 3 albums…and yes, that includes Revival. That album got more hate than it deserved. There are a couple gems on there. He’s just gotta drop a few of the bad habits he’s picked up along the way - bloated albums with 3 toxic love songs on each one comes to mind. But the skill is still sharp as ever and if you can’t see that you’re just a hater
YES! Thank you! It’s literally comes down to what his “fans” want and preference and taste! Not really to do with Eminem. Most of these people are know-it-alls who dick ride others opinions as law. Let’s not act like SSLP, Encore, the re-up were completely perfect because they weren’t!
Honestly I personally wouldn't collaborate with him if I was Jay Cole all they'll be talking about is Em washing Cole like Coles good but you know how it goes
eminem ruined his legacy in the last 10 years. just like game of thrones went from the greatest cinematic masterpiece( S 1-6) to absolute shit in the last 2 seasons but most of his yes men fans and yes men people surrounding him would have a hard time seeing the truth; his last great album was MMLP2🌀
Rappers age out and become bad after a while. They’re no longer young nor innovative and have said all they need to say. There’s few exceptions you mentioned nas & jay z. But Andre 3000 was right to retire when he did, he even did once in an interview as to why he didn’t come back bc he felt he was no longer that hip innovative person in music. It happens to everyone.
There’s only one thing I can see where you’re coming from and it’s the pop songs but also those songs still get crazy plays. He literally says on Kamikaze “platinum sells are looked at as a failure.” Also to expect someone who originated from battle rap to just ignore hateful comments from Earl and Tyler is kinda weird. And he does collaborate with lyricists such as grip, Joyner, westside boogie, Conway, logic, ez mill, Big Sean, and now JID
I couldn't disagree more with this video. You literally didn't offer a single criticism outside of personal opinion. Honestly if anything you said even his "worst" album where financial successes. Fans might of night like recovery and most of that was to do with them hearing the Eminem album, but not listening to it. Eminem has had some of the best bars I have ever heard over my almost 40 years of listening to hip hop. You can have your opinion but to try and pass it off as fact is disingenuous, terrible video.
Starting from Recovery, which was a hilarious misguided Pop Album that legitimately turned him into a pop star. MMLP2 was the same deal, and so was Revival. Kamikaze was some of the lamest, windiest shit ever. His lack of self awareness is insane. And MTBMB was the same shit as Revival 😂 Let's not forget how badly everyone reviewed that album. "Bars" aren't defined by how many rhymes you can say, or how complicated you can make it. Eminem is an incredible technical rappers, no one is saying otherwise but as far as content goes, Eminem's efforts at making deep and thought provoking content are as deep as a kiddy pool. He's leaning too much on Pop Appeal, and rhyme schemes to overcompensate for his mediocre punchlines, and wordplay. Since when did Eminem become Pop Radio baby, who plays it safe as possible when it comes to music. Delusional Eminem Stans make these points even worse.

Half of those songs on the album are love songs 😂 MMLP is better, but close to classic? To who? I honestly can't remember a single good song from that album, Survival was pop, rap god was corny, love game was the most mid record to get Em and Kendrick on, berserk is good, bad guy was the worst, monster is the GOAT corny song of all time, brainless was my old favorite but that hook and beat is just awful. I don't even consider SSLP a classic and that was miles better than MMLP2. The problem with Eminem and Lil Wayne is rapping about nothing. Glad he doesn't only have smoke for girls this time though, but he needs a challenge, a respectful beef like Lupe and Royce where they both came out firing. I get dissing the mumble guys, but they won't challenge him on any level for him to be respected as a king. Look at Jay Z, he went after the best rapper, and managed to survive, today he raps about serious stuff that reflect his age. Look at Kanye, he managed to not get bodied on a song with Jay Z on their album together. I know he's a crazy one but for his age he gotta do something.
Let me go back and rehash a moment and when people go back that's the grossest fucking thing.....move foward. Tyler the creator. This aged like fine wine and houdini proved his point. Like that Tyler gained a new fan.
He needs to shave the beard and cook up a 444 or a King's Disease. It sucks seeing someone who was such a big part of my childhood devolve so much artistically. I feel like If he just embraced his age like you said and became less soft he would be making better music.
I wish we got an Eminem album like 4:44. He showed he has some chance to do something like it with Stepping Stone off Kamikaze and even Darkness on MTBMB but I don't know if he can embrace his age and maturity in full to make an album as refined and well thought as something Jay or Nas has done
@@fantastichiphop Yeah, now that I think about it Em probably wouldn't be able to mature as much as Jay or Nas because that would be pretty out of character. I feel like he had the potential to make one. Songs like Stan or Kim off of the Marshall Mathers LP really showed an interesting side of him. But really at this point I just don't feel like he's got the artistic drive to produce another classic, I think he could still make a good album but nothing crazy. I mean he's got no hunger left. Fantastic, I enjoy your content, but the current state of hip hop is dire. Amongst the top 5 songs on the Billboard, 3 are country songs. What does that say about rap? Rap is in an ugly place.
The whole state of the music industry is a whole problem that can I could make a whole series on but to say rap is an ugly place is a huge reach. While their are problems, the past five years (the era Eminem was really attacking in 2018 to now) has given us so much amazing music. You do pose a good point tough and I am going to try to address what’s going on In a video in the near future 👏
8:14 I feel you but saying they have no problem with it is not accurate I feel. Lol they might not like it but what can they do? The youngins are running out now so they rather accept it and let them have it instead of be looked at like a hater.
Maybe cause he's not that person anymore
He kinda declined when he started collabing with more pop singers than rappers. He also needs to chill out with the speedy flow for every song nowadays.

Can’t destroy some that is already set in place. Has ice Cube or Snoop’s legacies been destroyed?

This man literally hated on kamikaze what are we doing? 😂
recovery and relapse are classics 🌀
Brush some facts are wrongful some are ryt ....your research needs work
The problem with Eminem and Lil Wayne is rapping about nothing.
Only thing Em is destroying is his haters.
Facts they’re all mad in this comments em will always be relevant he a goat
Ain’t gonna lie I listen to Eminem’s new music I really enjoy it 😂
he just going on what some hater been saying
Eminem is a active oldhead rapper
When most oldheads are bashing from the sidelines
How is he active ?? His last album was like 3 years ago.
@@trocustar3450 stfu genz em will always be relevant he's the biggest rapper in the 🌎
@@trocustar3450 lol em will always be relevant he a rap legend bozo still globally recognized
@@SerenaOsas that old man need to drop fking music then.
Em always jokes around a lot and never takes himself that seriously. I really want a deep introspective album from him, maybe mixed in with a little bit of his classic humor. He already is the Best selling rapper of all time. He already has a shit load of hits. Bro has all the hip hop achievements unlocked and has no reason to create anything other than the oldhead dribble he makes now.
@@rickEbrickElisten to Eminem’s last verse on Bad Guy, it’s Eminem at his most poetic and he talks about how one day he will become the he laughing stock of rap who can’t call it quits
@@rickEbrickEalso the Eminem Show was mostly a mature album. It was more mature than Blueprint and The Black album. Recovery was mostly mature too, just not as good. When he dropped Recovery, everyone said they wanted the silly Eminem back.
@@rickEbrickE”he’s got no hunger left” bullshit kamikaze was the hungriest I’ve heard em sound since the mid 2000s, and his music hasn’t been nearly as bad as a whole for post revival
You are absolutely right
This video is so wrong in many ways
All albums aside ya'll sleeping on this mans Cyphers. ya'll forget he was a battle rapper first
No one really cares about spiritual miracle lyrical rappers anymore
This generation only listen to mumble rap y’all better stfu Eminem remain a rap legend 🐐
Almost *ALL* of those critics have went back on their original opinion, explain that.
I get this take. It's right BUT he delivered his bitterness and childish perspective well on Kamikaze. A lot of those bars were nice.
He killed that feature on Homicide too.
Nha, relapse and recovery are perfect albums, there was nothin off about’em. MMLP2 also fantastic. Revival I like the last two songs for his daughter, hate kamikaze but artist have a right to make mistakes, and MTBMB is honestly amazing, I even like a lot of the side B. GNAT is one of em’s best songs, so playfull and enjoyable
When did he destroy his career?
moreso his modern reputation people say he's washed and corny now
@@alpha_enaz lol thats impossible
This sounds bitter lol
god bunch of eminem d riders in this comment section lol!
Bunch of Eminem haters here damn hypocrite
Man what he's only better than ever
kid who was probably barely around during em's early peak tells us why he "fell off" by recycling dumb twitter talking points... cool
Don't see you saying nothing to defend it tho 😂 Just painting it as hate.
@@jalazel6447 i think he raps better than ever and writes some really good songs.. he just ain't as mainstream or as culturally relevant as before... there's no way he could be tho... he's almost 50 and hes not really that controversial anymore, even if he says something wild you kind of expect it from him
@@crowproductions6719 Eminem is 1000% just as mainstream as ever before, he's bigger than ever especially in the streaming age. He did better numbers than Drake last decade, he was played on Pop Radio more than anyone last decade. But that's the thing, how he keeps his relevance within music - by making Pop music.
He's no longer relevant within Hiphop for that reason. And his skill set becomes less and less impressive the more and more we see how much he uses rhyme schemes as a crutch, it's not impressive to see someone do complex rhyme schemes all day if that's all they can do, especially when it's to overshadow the fact that his wordplay and punchlines are mediocre at best. If Em is showing us he can't keep up with people like Nas, Jay, Busta, ext. From his peer group then he shouldnt be talked about in the GOAT conversation.
@@jalazel6447 Yeah i know his numbers are better than most, i meant hes not played on the radio, the clubs or any party like he used to... i disagree heavily on the wordplay thing tho... who has better wordplay or punchlines?? maybe wayne but that's it... you might think is corny or the delivery a little dad jokish but he clever af... he bodied nas on their feauture and he had better lyrics than busta on theirs (busta energy is unmatched tho) so naah, i think you hating too lol
@@crowproductions6719 Who doesn't? Eminem has some of the laziest and Corniest punchlines I've heard, it's not a high bar to pass... L, Royce, definitely Wayne, Bankz, JID, Kendrick, Cole, Jay - all top Em in the wordplay and punchline category. Definitely, without a doubt.
Bodied Nas? Nas wasnt exactly going all out or anything, Em hopped on an existing track that already leaked without Em on it. Not Exactly getting "bodied" if you weren't setting out for that when the track was first recorded 😂 even if you felt that way, Nas has had 6 great albums within the last 3 years, Em hasn't had a good album since 2002. And that Busta shit, that's debatable. They both did their thing, which is Rhyming fast and somehow having no memorable lines.
Revival was fire, so was kamikaze!
🧢
Basically Em got too caught up in that war on mumble rap in the late 2010s
Once I heard Em speak down on Relapse and Praise revival I knew he was cloned. Relapse has some of Dre’s best work and he made almost every beat on there. The new guy wants us to accept his style so bad while still trying to sell slim shady but it’s not working.
This gotta be a joke dude is clearly at the top of the game even now when it comes to lyricism Gnat is perhaps one of his best songs to date and still at the top of the charts so clearly just hating
@JD-ju8rl definitely hating this is a bit old so don't remember what he all said but I don't use the word hater loosely so I'm confident what I said is true I know the difference between a hater and constructive criticism
When did he destroy his legacy ?? He’s the GOAT..PERIOD ! He has proved enough,he went at it when he was hungry and was a nobody, now he’s full so the music slows down..simple🤷🏽♂️
The big Sean hate must cease
I actually like Big Sean but putting him in the same convo as Kendrick and Cole is wild 😭 Detroit and Detroit 2 are both really good records
@@fantastichiphopHe doesn’t sell
Like them but best believe Sean can hang in the space with them
Lyrically ESPECIALLY nowadays, he already did with Kendrick on Holy Key
The guy wanted to quit a long time ago
He was forced into this why u pushing him
I still love eminem, the rap god. The new generation of rappers ain't critical thinkers.
You will brake your neck with this reach
You’re wildin
Everyone go listen to Bad Guy by Eminem, the last verse, he explains his fall from grace.
Eminem ran out of stuff to talk about after recovery he just tried to relive his old days Marshall mathers 2 he tried to be slim shady again, revival he tried to be more political, kamikaze he sounded bitter until he got it right however the damage is already done I like Eminem however he doesn’t need to drop another album unless he has something to say about his daughter getting married
@@JD-ju8rl he did all that because as i state before he ram out of things to talk about of course he apologized to his mom its his mom however his albums just dont hit the same as he has nothing left in the tank at this point he should do like 50 did and never out out an album again only.put out songs here and there
@@JD-ju8rl not really he dyed his hair so he can be slim shady again plus he apologize as it’s the on other option he had otherwise he would of dissed her again I stand by what I said he ran out of ideas
have you heard of music to be murdered by?
He literally mentions it you goof ball
Surprised this is a hip hop channel. This vid had me assuming you only knew eminem
Yall pop platforms be so cliché. How do you make such a big separation between Big Sean and Kendrick & Cole?
eminem is still eminem if not better he is still a lyrical genius, even if he flops a little bit that's ok right no one is perfect, and i am sure if we give give him enough time to correct himself he'll be back on top in no time
That lyrical myrical Shit doesn’t make you a good lyricist, I love Eminem, I’m a huge fan but if he went back to his own self, he would be able to erase his hate. He still is extremely popular and he is the 1% of the 99% of rappers who didn’t make it past this generation
the unwilling to stop is the only reson for his downfall
This whole video just shows how you misinterpreted MTBMB and Kamikaze and the fact that you're tragically sleeping on Joyner Lucas and Big Sean
He really should’ve just retired after MMLP2, have Dr Dre or Alchemist produce his albums again or actually follow through on delivering good albums for this era
Fr he needs to take the Nas route by teaming up with a hungry producer to take care of the beat selections while he focusses solely on the concepts of his albums.
MGK was RIGHT about Em
Fantastic, I enjoy your content, but the current state of hip hop is dire. Amongst the top 5 songs on the Billboard, 3 are country songs. What does that say about rap? Rap is in an ugly place.
The whole state of the music industry is a whole problem that can I could make a whole series on but to say rap is an ugly place is a huge reach. While their are problems, the past five years (the era Eminem was really attacking in 2018 to now) has given us so much amazing music. You do pose a good point tough and I am going to try to address what’s going on In a video in the near future 👏
If the first person that comes to mind when you hear the word "rap" is Eminem than you don't know anything about rap.
Black ?
Hot take: Relapse was his last good album
8:14 I feel you but saying they have no problem with it is not accurate I feel. Lol they might not like it but what can they do? The youngins are running out now so they rather accept it and let them have it instead of be looked at like a hater.
yeah his last few albums haven't been all that to me. Still not terrible tho
Imo he should have stopped after MMLP2 and take a page out of 50 and Jay's book and expand his business ventures. Maybe get back into acting.
