Yeah ... Sonos products seem to be incapable of dealing with routers / access points that don't allow one to readily separate & distinguish between the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. And once you do get them (eventually) set up (eg. by temporarily disabling 5GHz), then same problem all over again when trying to install Sonos updates over WiFi. I persisted with my Sonos Ones, cause they just sound so damned good, however I can keep my bands separate. Helped a neighbour with a couple of Sonos Ones, but ended up giving him one of my no longer needed routers, so that he could swap out his Eero, cause his Eero and Sonos really, really didn't like each other.
Dayo! Hear you on the setup completely. Sold my Sonos One as it would just disconnect randomly forcing me to go through the setup process and this happened every time. Now have the og homepods and they’re seamless
I saw your video when you had problems with your GEN three sub from Sonos and I just want to say I noticed he just threw the book away didn’t bother to read the instructions and that probably where you had the problems especially if you’re new to Sonos! Also check your network because on my phone for unknown reason it changes networks out of the blue and that’s why sometimes your products cannot be recognized so check your network all the time! I’m a big Sonos fan and every time I listen to home theater I just have a big smile!🤠
Like I said before you do anything check your Wi-Fi make sure it’s on the correct settings. I’ve had my Sonos tell me it does not recognize my products so I check my Wi-Fi and guess what it changed and I had to correct it and then everything was fine.!👍
From your previous post with the ARC you had problem setting it up. Then several months later you rolled out another video this time setting up the Sub. Once again you had setup issues. Once you finally understood the process you had no idea the Sub wasn’t working. You had the volumes too low--duhhhhhh Now this video. Cmon Booooooo
Dayo, Great video. My beam and sub lost Wi-Fi connection and I went down the Sonos rabbit hole repeatedly. After wasting 2 hours I gave in and called Sonos support and they got me up and running. I was considering getting the 300 but after my bad experience I changed my mind.
Dayo!!! That was a great video!! I'm just saying when I feel the same way you do about getting something to work I wish I had my grandson to help me out. However when a Tech Guy like you has problems with the set up I don't feel so bad. I appreciate your honesty and straight talk. Plus now I know not to get a sonos as if you can't figure out the setup, I won't have a chance. THANKS.
Hi Dayo, in my experience, I let a friend borrow my 2 Fives once. The only way to connect to his wifi was to do a factory reset. Likewise, when returning to my home setup I had to once again do a factory reset to get them back on my home wifi. Hopefully this helps. Good luck.
I ended up buying an Ethernet adapter, plugging it in and having it instantly connect. Oddly enough when I unplug the Ethernet adapter and I did the Wi-Fi setup, it did it flawlessly. Initial setup seemed to have problems.
Just curious, why do you have that other “Test Wi-Fi” network? Can you just temporarily disable that along with the 5ghz network? Not saying you should have to do that, I get it’s frustrating, but maybe that would work.
Emojis in WiFi names always seem to cause issues for me personally. By the looks of your WiFi name, it looks to be your case too with the "\xf0\...", Looks like a neat product though.
That’s too bad that you had such a hard time. I didn’t realize how lucky I was to have plugged an Ethernet cable into my sound bar when I first got it as the setup happened without issue and then the subwoofer and a few Sonos 1 speakers all added via wifi seamlessly. I have a friend who got his first Sonos speakers a couple of years ago and he was complaining of dropouts from time to time and he was only on wifi. I recommended that he connect one of them via Ethernet and the issues went away for him and have not returned. I never have dropouts, ever, but that one speaker is still connected via Ethernet cable to my router. Seems to make a difference for ease of setup and network stability.
Strange I never had this experience setting up Sonos.. I can understand your frustration.. I’d feel just like you. Hopefully you and Sonos can get to the bottom of why you are having these Wi-Fi connection issues. If you can get one speaker successfully onto your Wifi.. you should then be able to use your iPhone and hold next to the other speakers… Wish you all the best.. it shouldn’t be that complicated.. Sonos certainly need to help you resolve something that should be a simple process. I have a very basic Wi-Fi setup ‘Sky Hub’ for my Beam gen2 x2 Sonos ones and sub mini using a Boost..
Agree ! I love Sonos and the beam and sub dry up really well. Bought 2 Sonos era - and can't change the surround sound from the Sonos 1 and now they won't play with rest of system. Get your act together Sonos. Is awful
Transfer ownership. Create new network. Then add. I’ve been through this same exact thing. No fun. Sonos are some good hard pounding drivers but setup is ridiculous.
Adding a new WiFi device to a network is always an adventure. When I mention using Apple products to people, I get condescending looks. But I use everything successfully while they complain about stuff that doesn’t work.
I wonder if you would make a video after consulting Sonos support and you’ve figured out what the issue was. Instead of leaving the review/not review with pure frustration but guiding those (as I’ve read through several of your followers comments) who have had similar issues. I’ve been lucky enough to be able to get through the setup process of all of my Sonos products using a combined 2.5/5Ghz network (linksys Wi-Fi 6 mesh router system that also includes a guest network) including adding the new Era 300s as a pair to my Arc with two Sub gen 3s. In fact, the Era 300 is the first Sonos products that support Wi-Fi 6! If you don’t mind my suggestion, I think you’d fair better if you knew a little more of the specific tech specs before setting out to do a video. Lots of people who watch will be wanting to hear good and helpful info from you- as they’re/we’re hoping to be inspired. Not to say, don’t speak of your frustrations- but also add at the very least what you’ve learned and how you fixed the issues. Let’s be honest, we all know Sonos didn’t actually put out a flawed product- you would certainly be not the only one with these issues as you pointed out yourself in your video. Anyhow, I hope you find resolution and some solace. If nothing else, it looks like you had some delicious lasagna!
Wow….Cmon it’s simple to setup. You just have it for Sonos. I’m not a Tech in Wi-Fi connections but sure have patience. Just make sure your ERA mic in the back are on. Then try again buddy I have the ARC, (2) ERA 300 along with the Sub Gen 2, modified from the Sun Gen 1. No complaints at all ✌️
I went out and got an Ethernet adapter and then oddly enough once it connected wired, it allowed me to connect to my Wi-Fi since I assume it's already storing previous information from my router. It also doesn't tell me that "Hey your phone is on a different network than the Sonos". Now that they are working, they sound great.
I've had the same issues. Absolutely unacceptable set-up. I am going to return them (2 ERA 100's). They should fire all of their engineers. They had sent me an email asking if I needed help setting them up and the number did not work. If you have to have a team of employees at the ready just to help customers set up their products, you are already doing something wrong. Fail
Whenever you use SONOS, you do the same antics. Your thing is not HIFI electronics. You must dedicate your channel to something associated with CIRCUS. Those of us with full SONOS gear know how well they connect at all times. You have earned my negative Like
Yeah it connects at all times with Ethernet and the setup is a breeze after that, since they allow way more network options that they don't offer during first time setup. The initial setup is a different story for me and has been the same with previous devices from them.
@@DayoAworunse t is not true, actually the first connectivity is the easiest of all. When new restorations are installed, it is actually when it can cause some difficulty (especially for newbies) when pairing the SONOS. But, do you know of any sound product with better connectivity than the one provided by SONOS, and that isn't cumbersome cabling? From the moment you perform the SONOS umboxing, you notice the little respect for the brand and its consumers. I hope his followers understand me (who love his antics) my point of view was his unprofessionalism RUclips.
@@tuareg67 I have lots of respect for SONOS actually. What I don't have respect for are the fans and consumers of SONOS (similar to Apple customers) that talk about how amazing the product is, but when someone has problems with their product, they want to chastise the person to defend their purchase and the company. People are allowed to have problems and for a consumer friendly brand, my experience has been quite the opposite. As stated in the video, others may have seamless experience, just not for my case, especially when the products are expensive. Also the HomePods I would say are on par with the Era 100 and was better to set up. Just my experience though
@@DayoAworunse Do not confuse FANATISM for a Brand, which empathizes and thanks the manufacturer for trying to make us enjoy their products as much as possible. Came to this video since I have same problem with my 300!!!
Finally someone relatable

Really? The newer homepods that I have drop off occasionally which is why I tried Sonos again and just plugging via Ethernet.
OG HomePod reign supreme

it the same it really suck to connect must play only on Bluetooth
What a nighmare to set these things up. Two hours and I'm still trying with me Era 100s. Piece of Sh734t bookends at this point..
I have a full Sonos system. Extremely frustrating. The arc. Both subs. All of the surround speakers. Irritating

These speakers are so over priced it’s crazy
Here in Canada the one sound bar and one speaker is well over $2000 together
You and your negative reviews
They aren't intentional I swear 😂
