Thank you! I was ready to send my Sonos surround system back due to audio drop outs and then I saw your video. I picked up a Boost today and it solved this problem. I like Sonos and now I get to enjoy it.
Dam, your “make one speaker Ethernet connected” solution is gold. It ended my week-long pain of the 4 IKEA symphonisk disconnecting issue after router change. 🌈💪🏻
Hooking up one of my speakers via Ethernet seemed to solve my issue with the Sonos 1 always disconnecting. I’ll give it a few days to see if the fix sticks! Thanks so much!!
My man! You just saved me months of headaches! I've been dealing with this trouble for a long time and my WiFi supplier could not fix it, but now i works like a charm! Thanks a lot!
Took your advice on the boost and early results are very good; far more reliable connectivity after 2 yrs of speakers dropping clean off the network. Thanks for the great / clear advice.
@@HowToPM not yet but I’ve now plugged the boost into the Wi-Fi mesh node that is wired to the Wi-Fi router and the devices have all popped back which is good. Previously I’d connected the boost to router - not sure why it worked then stopped…hopefully this will be ok now 🤞🤞🤞
Thanks for the information. I have a Sonos Boost connected to my router. However, I purchased it about 9 years ago, and I keep losing the connection to Sonos. Do you think that I should replace it or do you have any other suggestions?
@@HowToPM Thanks for letting me know. I tried unplugging all of the Sonos speakers and the Sonos Connect and now everything is working again. Maybe that is because I replaced the main router in the house a couple of months ago. I am not planning to get any additional speakers unless some of the ones that I have stop working. I have the original Play 1 speakers. I just wish they had the button to go back to the previous song or forward to the next.
I'm just diving into all things Sonos, and this video is super helpful. Thanks! One question...Would plugging a network cable into a Sonos Port effectively be the same as plugging into one of the speakers?
I was having similar problems again. I tried removing the music library and then re adding it to the Sonos app on the Mac. Now I am getting error code 1002 after trying to connect it with the music folder. Very frustrating.
On speaker connected is already very good. Note that most of the new Sonos Speaker does not have the meshing system. Like the move, the roam and the era familly.
I have a Sonos One SL. I have it connected by WIFI and it sounds good. I have it on a piece of furniture. When they do cleaning and move it, it disconnects and stops ringing. Do you know why that happens?
Hi i have a tp link deco mesh setup. So the question is shall i connect the speaker to the deco that is connected to the router or straight to the router? Thanx in advance!
Hum. I never trusted router mesh system. It is basically the same idea as sonos but it's to heavy for a whole network. I would connect sonos to the router.
Most excellent!!! Very very easy to understand as I am not a technical person. Easy to comprehend. Excellent teacher. He made it very easy and clear to understand what we can try for speakers cutting out. NICE NICE job! Let us hope it works now!
Thx for the video. I have 4 Sonos SL speakers, which I placed in 4 different rooms at my dental office. The wireless router is just out in the hallway. I tried to wire on of them like you recommended. Is there any setting up on the Sonos app after wiring it? I tried to set it up on the app but failed.
Hi Adrian! Just wait 24h for the system to get use to it's new configuration. However, from my experience, Sonos work better in home environment. It work sometime well in business but it is really not made for that. More people mean more interference, and the network environment is usually safer and restrictive.
Just come across your video, I've just brought tp link deco m4 to try improve my WiFi as we have moved to a bigger house unable now to connect all my speakers. so I have 1 tp link connected to my router with cable should I use another cable from 1 speaker to the other tp link to improve the range thanks in advance
The most important thing about your TP link is that it is connected with a cable. Otherwise it's an extender and that is not good. One speaker should be fine, but you can connect as many as you want. Hard connection is always better.
I have the boost, and 3 satellite orbi 38, and still have issues of dropping, lost groups, etc. I hate Sonos but am so invested (over 6k), it’s hard to start over. Shen it works its great. It rarely works. I’ve done all of your suggestions.
I think the Orbi 38 might be the problem. I don't know that device specifically, but that kind of meshing Wi-Fi from my experience is terrible. Often, it create more trouble than it solve. Look for centering the wi-fi in your home, and if you want to expand, use cable to create Acces Point.
Had trouble even before the orbi, but interesting to hear the mesh may be an issue. Thought it was supposed to be better/more reliable. The modem/router/boost with direct connection to a speaker are central in the house. Which is less than 2000 sq ft, 2 levels. What do you mean by direct cable connection? As in cable service from the wall connected to what? It’s already connected to the modem/router. Any help you can give would be great, because I definitely am not getting all I can from my system
It's more about your messhing system. I did not yet made a video about this but.... The best way to expand your wi-fi is to install Access point. Difference between repeater (what you have) and access point is that AP are connected with a network cable to your router, and repeater just recast what they get over Wi-Fi. That said, most of your Sonos device might not connect to Wi-Fi if you have a boost. Unless you have ERA, move or roam.
I have my ONT in the basement. My router is on the 2nd floor. I also have Sonos Port in the basement which is currently working wirelessly with the router. Am I able to connect the Sonos port directly to the ONT through the CAT5 or do I have to use the Verizon router/tower to get my connection? I cannot bring my Sonos Port to the 2nd floor as the receiver is beside it in the basement. Thanks.
I don't know what is a ONT but the only thing you need to do is to connect with a cat5 cable a Sonos device to a networking gear of your house. It can be the router or a networking switch.
Hi Lester! In my opinion you must wire as much device as you can. The Boost have a network switch at the back and can be use to wire an other Sonos Speaker of course. But make sure that the Boost is connected into the router or a Network switch.
I have a Russound system (16 years old) and I want to connect to my Sonso port. Note I have Comcast/Xfinity as my cable/internet . So I did a search on RUclips and viewed your videos. I also have this connection to my Pioneer Elite Stereo. Note I did purchase the Sonos amplifier as well, but I'm not sure I can use it. Do you have thoughts or advice? I'm not sure where to start. I spent $2,400 on a Sonos arc, sub gen 3 and (2) play one sl’s. My surround speakers cut in and out every 3 seconds or so and they crackle. I have t-mobile 5G internet. I set up and recalibrated/repaired multiple times. Please help, do I need to buy a Sonos boost?
Just connecting a speaker to your router might help. But a boost may help even more. 5G internet is also not the best. Meaning that it is wireless internet and sometime very slow.
I have a question. I have a benq3100i projector. I want to add sonos speakers. I dont want to hard wire. Can i use the sound bar and 2 rear sonos over ethenet or wifi? Do i need the sonos boost?
You never ''need'' a bost. You can wire one of your speaker and that can do the job. You setup is possible but might be a bit more complicated as most projector don't have a ARC HDMI.
I’ve had my Sonos arc for a few months now and when I’m watching any movie, some parts of the movies that have no dialogue all of a sudden goes silent. It’s noticeable when I’m watching a movie and can hear the crickets but then it’ll go quiet for no reason until someone starts talking in the movie, then you’ll be able to hear the crickets. I guess it’s not picking up all the audio and I don’t know how to fix this issue. I tired compressed audio fixed the height and delay. I’m just stuck. Can you please help me?
Hi Rick. I find overtime that Sonos is made to work on regular home network. When it get to more complex network, it may not be as stable. You can try, but you may have trouble.
Hi tanks for the video. I got issue since I change the tv i got Sony a80j and have crackling sound when I switch between media for example when I switch from Netflix or Amozon etc.
My friend, thank you for this informative video. One questions, my new apartment uses Google wifi mesh network (2.4/5ghtz). However, I cannot choose which channel the sonos system connects to. I have a 5.1 system (arc, 2 one sl, and sub). I have heard of people walking down the street to connect to the 2.4 channel and setting up that way. Would you recommend the boost to avoid any issues? Is it absolutely necessary? Will the boost for sure pick the 2.4 channel? And when using the sonos app through my phone, it needs to be connected to the 2.4 channel as well correct? If so, I’m walking down the street until I clear the 5ghtz connection and connect to the 2.4 channel? Any feedback would be tremendously appreciated sir. Warm regards, Blake
Hi Blake. You router send a 2.4 and 5ghz network, but it doesn't matter wich one you use. They are still represent the same network. Sonos can only be connected to 2.4ghz network. They have no 5ghz antenna. Anyway, once you will use the boost, all your sonos devices will connect to the boost instead of your Wi-Fi. About walking down the street, the 2.4ghz should be the network that you can see at a maximum distance. 2.4ghz is fast and have a great range. 5.0ghz is very fast but on a smaller range. You should take a look at this video, I explain how a network and internet work : ruclips.net/video/890xxzzW76k/видео.html
Thank you - very helpful😁. May i ask your advice? I just have one Sonos Connect (2nd Gen) which is wired. I regularly experience drop out of Spotify signal - maybe once per hour for about 10 seconds. Any ideas How I can fix this please? Many thanks.
Hum. I got 3 things in mind. 1. Do you have a terrible internet connection? 2. Is the device very hot? 3. Maybe try to leave it all disconected (fully off) for 24h. Sometime it makes miracle. 😉
Hi Max. Yes of course connecting a play one will do about the same job as a boost. Howerver the Boost antenna is stronguer than the play1. But in most cases, the play1 will do the job. I see the Boost as a tool to use when your router is in a room where you will never listen to music. But the thing to remember, is that the most important, is to have at least one Sonos devices connected to your LAN with a network cable.
Thank you for your informative and most helpful video. Too many SONOS product purchases are bound to be problematic. Doing Trueplay for my home theatre set up requires way too many attempts. I ended up disconnecting all other S2 speakers and I was able to successfully do Trueplay. I will be purchasing my 13th SONOS product on your recommendation with confidence (a Boost).
Sure. My link can take you to Sonos Web Site. 😉 It's the same price for you but I make a commision out of you transaction when you pass with my link. 🙂
Thank you for your excellent explanation. I have the 7 Sonos 1 speakers (2013) all over the house, plus the sound bar, and 1 Roam. I have terrible drop out between speakers. I took the original ethernet cable that came with my sonos speaker and plugged it into my router. Unfortunately, the speakers still intermittently cut out. Is this because I am mixing and matching old products with the new? I am using the most recent Sonos application. I do not want to purchase the Boost if it will not solve the problems.
Hi Laura. The roam will not use the mesh system as it is a Wi-Fi only device. For your other devices, give it some time to create a great reliable mesh. It may not be instant. Give it 24 hours. Otherwise, try to connect an other speaker if possible, or go with the boost.
Very nice . Can you instead of use the sonos boost simply boost the existing wi-fi channels ? Will it have any effect ? From what i understand not, cuz of meshing, but that's what a pro company did to boost signal for a friend...used 2 zyxtel wifi boosters from what i heard...and of course he has speakers deconnecting cuz of bad signal.
Connecting a sonos device with a cable will be the best solution as it will use it own meshing system. Expending your Wi-Fi network with Wi-Fi extender is one of the worst thing you can do to your network. If you want to extend your Wi-Fi propely, you need cable to your antenna wich will create Acces Point instead of Repeater.
@@HowToPM aieaie..well it's not a sonos system but Bluesound pulse 2i. As i understand, it's not mesh and there's no signal boost device. Let's cable it all then would be the answer, but even wired there are problems... 😬
Very useful video thank you. I have various older Sonos speakers including 3 old Play 5’s but just bought 2 Sonos Fives so I am compelled to use both S1 and the new ‘S2’ I am happy with the new Fives being on their own separate system but can you please advise if I will be able to use the Boost to transmit to both my S1 & S2 systems please? Many thanks 😃
@@HowToPM Thanks for your reply. Spoke with Sonos and they advised me that Boost is not compatible with S1 but I’m not convinced that’s correct as Boost was released long before S2. So far I have all my old Sonos devices running off S1 and the new Fives on S2 - the S2 with the fives is very solid and always works but the older speakers on S1 keep dropping out but they are spread all over the house so I will try to use the Boost on the S1 system and leave S2 as it is. Here’s hoping!
Have always had one speaker plugged in. Consistently cuts out to the point where we don’t use them anymore. We have 12 speakers. Big waste of money as it stands. Sonos support has yet to solve. Any tips?
DOes this Sonos Boost creata a wifi network just for the Sonos devices? Can one part of the house be connected to a normal wifi router and the other half to a sonos boost?
It's a kind of Wi-Fi but it can't be called Wi-Fi. Your phone won't be able to connect on it for exemple. But basically you just connect it and your devices will pick the best route possible. Some device might still connect to wi-fi, other to the boost. And the boost will create a mesh. So a speack can connect to a closest speaker that connect to the boost. It really do a wonderfull job.
@@HowToPM if all speakers are wireless , some connected to the standard wifi and other to the boost, they will also be communicating between them via wireless?
One of my play 5’s does not stay powered on. I have changed cables and outlets to eliminate possibilities. Could it be a fused that had failed? Is there a way to repair it?
Hi! Well the boost definetly must be connected to the router. Then yes this will help you about the sound cut. However if you are listening in multiroom a local input source, this video might interest you : ruclips.net/video/yXs3DZei848/видео.html
I have started to have issues ever since I have added a pair of One SL's to the existing Arc and Sub Gen 3 setup. Sonos advised its wireless interference that is causing dropouts, I connected the Arc to the Router via an RJ45, the problem seemed to resolve at first but resurfaced after 2 days. Sonos care now advised to disable bandwidth steering which essentially slows my Internet and I am unsure if that is the real trouble maker here. With your experience, can you help advise if one of the speakers is hardwired, how would disabling wifi mesh bandwidth steering help.Should I be deleting the Wifi network since I see WMO against all components indicating its wired. Would a Boost help here or its as good as having plugged a speaker to the Router directly?
First thing to try is to connect a speaker with a cable and wait 48 hours. You don't need to disable Wi-Fi. Then if you still have trouble, go for the boost. But usually a simple connected speaker do the job.
I have 8 old generation play 5 , and others players the I bought before the update, can I play all of then in the S1 app, because now my system is split in two, play 5 play in S1, others play on Sonos gold app. I want play all my speakers together, I don't care about the updates, please advise, thanks
I Pedro, I made that video to explain everything about the S1 S2 things : ruclips.net/video/iZiINR4AEGY/видео.html But unfortunatelly, you will not be able to merge both system togheter. You would have to use only s1 devices.
Hi, I work for a restaurant that uses the sonos streaming component by wifi (no LAN cable connected). But I'm using a dj system XDJ-XZ controller. The thing is, sometimes, if I turn up the volume, all speakers sound fatigued or cutting the signal... I have to mix by internal even if I removed from the app things as (delay, limitless). I'd been watching your videos but it doesn't work! Could you please help me with this?... I really appreciate!... thank you 🙌
Sonos is a home system. Some people use it commercially but that is a mistake. Especially in a restaurant. The room is full of water bag (people) that catch wi-fi, plus all of those people carry a cell phone that create even more interference. A hard connection would help, but even there, business networking gear are mostly axed on security than performance so I can guarantee sucess... Sonos is just not made for business.
I recently moved into a new apartment. There is a build in network where I need to access to a captive portal network to connect to the internet. There is an Ethernet port on the wall where I can connect my sonos one but can’t connect to the network because of the portal access. Is there a way to get the speaker working as I can’t seem to get the network settings right through the app.
Ouch. That seam like a terrible network environement. I would get a router and connect it to that wall to create your own network in the apartment. There you will be able to connect everything like before.

Hum. Interesting. You might have still a strong interferance in the air. I don't remember exactly where that setting is but you can manually choose the cannel on witch is broadcast your Sonos signal. Try to switch from 1 to 6 to 11. One will be better than the other. If still, you could try to move the boost to a more central point of the house, or wired more speaker.

Hi, all my sonos devices are connected to the wifi network. Observing connection problem I just added the sonos boost. I have connected the boost directelly to the router with a cable... I still see all sonos devices wirelessly connected to the router... It is not supposed to go trough the boost?
Hi Philippe. You might need to wait a day or two for the Sonos speakers to find the best way to comunicate. If you want to speed up the process you could reboot them all. But I would still recomend to wait a day or two to see how it respond.
I recently switched from an arc to a beam gen 2 hardwired in my bedroom and now my rear surround one sl speakers keep disconnecting from the app. They randomly disappear and reappear even though I'm using the hardwired sonos net. Can you help?
If you just change it, you might want to wait a day or two to let the speaker analyze the new connection. If it keep disconecting, disconect all of your speaker and reconnect them one by one starting with the network connected speaker.
@@HowToPM that's exactly what I had to do. I disconnected everything, reset all the speakers, and then reconnected them and they work great again on the sonosnet without disconnecting. Thanks
I’m having a setup with playbar, sub, four sonos Ones (of wich 2 in surround) and a boost. All positioned in the living room in all open space. Boost is wired to an acces point straight away, same for the playbar and the sub. Unfortunately the sound drops out in the wifi connected surround speakers now and than…how is that possible within a reach of 5m of the boost?
Are you sure it's an ''access point'' and not a repeter? AP are great but repeater terrible. If possible try to connect the Boost at the main switch or router. Otherwise, try to reboot everything. Leave it off for 5 minutes and restart. Everything should be fine.
You can only have one router on a Network. That might be your issue. Make sure your second router is setup as an Acces Point. And if it is setup as Repeater, this often create more trouble than it solve.
They don't. Sonos connect to 2.4ghz. It might create itself a 5g network for room like cinema, but it only connect to 2.4ghz Wi-Fi network. In the case of Sonos system, it just make more sense to use 2.4ghz. It can broadcast further away and audio is kind of a light signal so you don't need much speed.
@@HowToPM I want to give more detail, We have 11 Sonos speakers in the our house, some have been there for years. Lately something changed and we were having a LOT of connection issues. I was ready to get rid of the whole system and switch to apple home pod speakers. WELL you one wire connection to the internet fixed ALL of our problems! I'm telling you it was like magic! Ahah!! Thank you for your come back Jeff. I'm really happy you enjoyed and it solved your problems. 😀 I keep doing more videos don't worry. That is what I do full time now. Hope to see you again on an other one. 😉
After you install the boost, give it a day to let him find it's best channel. If you still have trouble you can try to manually change the wireless channel in the Sonos app. Otherwise, you probably have very strong interference in the house, you may need to hard wire some of them. But I rarely saw that kind of problem in residential installation. Are you trying to make it work in a public space like a restaurant? This never work well because it's not made for that.
The one that is connected on the network will create the sonos network. The rest will connect on it if they are Sonos Network compatible. Unfortunately, newer Sonos devices are not compatible with that super great technology.
Hi Pyro. That video should give you the answer to your problem : ruclips.net/video/CpcFYoqOLF8/видео.html That sound like a wiring trouble or you ask to much out of the amp.
Connecting one of your Sonos products to your router with an Ethernet cable will put your system into a wired setup. In a wired setup, the wired product will broadcast a dedicated wireless network that your Sonos products will use. Surround speakers or Sub cannot be used as the single wired product.
When you connect an Ethernet cable to the sub, it will not create a Sonos network for all the speakers. In order for you to create the Sonos network, you need to plug an Ethernet cable to the arc not a sub or a surround sound speaker
Hi. I have i trouble with my sonos play 3. After reset the green light is not start. Instead is blinkin red and white light. The web menu is available. Speaker can't connect with wifi or ethernet. Can You help with this problem? Sorry for my english. Greets
Hi Rado. I never had that problem but according to Sonos website, you should reboot, or reset it again. It failed to update. support.sonos.com/s/article/226?language=en_US
Best regards , I need your help. I have a sonos arc system with a sub, 2 Sonos one sl and booster. I don't know what's going on, or how they do it but sonos enter my network and start raising and lowering the volume. What can I do to correct this? Does anyone know? I thank
It can be a commend you send earlier that input with a lag? It can also be one of your phone that play with the volume button even if it's in sleep. Otherwise it can be a hacker that is on your network. In this case I would check your router security.
I pissed away $2400 on a Sonos setup, yeah it works, but it’s unreliable and way too much work to get it to work perfectly, basically, it’s a piece of sh*t
I understand your frustration I have a Sonos Roam and it is very unreliable, music is almost always cutting out and the speaker disconnects from the app, even having a great Wi-Fi signal at home and while all other devices in my network are fine, the compatibility with voice assistants isn’t any good and forget about Alexa messaging, calling and dropping, it’s not even supported. Bluetooth pairing only works with the rear button, but I can’t do it through Voice control and once paired, music stops playing for 1 second every 5 minutes or so. I’ll send it back cause I don’t want to deal anymore with disgusting connection issues and to no avail kind of solutions, I was absolutely happier with my blue Amazon echo, it always worked fine, so, I guess it’s time to buy it again and reframe from buying Sonos portable speakers because they don’t even support Sonos net for robust playback. Sonos Roam sounds great, but hey, it has too many connection issues and flaws with the voice assistants
We have 7 sonos devices throughout the house. One wired using the sonos network. Still have one speaker that constantly stops playing music then will start again after a few seconds. This is the second one in that room using stereo pair and the other speaker is perfectly fine lol... ugh
If I well understand your landlord rent you your wi-fi? That is usually find to connect some devices but the might have trouble to talk to each other. It's a fine way to connect to internet, but a very bad one to create a local network. I would recommend to get a real connection from a real ISP.
I had a Boost wired to my router, so all the other Sonos products were in the Sonos mesh network, and was having constant music dropouts. For YEARS!!! Then I installed a new router, again with the Boost wired to it , and BAM , problem solved. Since the Sonos products were on their own mesh network I don’t understand this. But anyway now after years of cussing Sonos it finally works! The old router was the final version of Apple Airport Extreme and the new router is a TP link Deco X20. So if you can’t solve your dropout issue, see if a new router fixes it. The explanation is unknown to me.
Of course the router can make a hude difference as everything pass by it. I remember there was a box to uncheck in that Airport Extreme to avoid a multimedia filtering. Maybee that was the problem. Can also be just interference. But sure thing, that router was due for a replacement.
Problem- Boost does not work with Move 1 or Era 300 and other Sonos products. I wasted $133 buying a Boost on ebay based on this well done video. Please delete this video or update to include extremely important info. Great guy but stay up to date.

I have a Sonos One SL. I have it connected by WIFI and it sounds good. I have it on a piece of furniture. When they do cleaning and move it, it disconnects and stops ringing. Do you know why that happens?
If you have18 Sonos speakers how the heck 😊would you wire them all to the network?
With cable. 😉
You don't have to but if you have wireless interference, this will help a lot.
Ahah!! Thank you for your comment Laura. I'm glad you enjoyed. 🙂
@@HowToPM So do I just plug in the ethernet cable & wait? No need for any setup in the Sonos app? Thx!
@@HowToPM thanks for your reply, I've got all work now, I had to connect the speakers with the cable to bring on line 👍
@@HowToPM Sorry. An ONT is an optimal network terminal for my Verizon Fios. Thanks.
An you wire a Sonos device to a boost? Will it help
That's a weird problem. I would check the audio output of your TV maybe.
But It's hard to troubleshoot over text message.
Have you ever setup sonos on a Vlan on your network and been able to access from your regular lan?
Hi Rick. I find overtime that Sonos is made to work on regular home network. When it get to more complex network, it may not be as stable. You can try, but you may have trouble.
Indeed, the mesh network will be much more reliable and strong.
Hi tanks for the video.
I got issue since I change the tv i got Sony a80j and have crackling sound when I switch between media for example when I switch from Netflix or Amozon etc.
Hum. This boost won't solve that kind of issue. That seam like a connection problem. Try the optical output if the HDMI arc doesn't work well.
Warm regards,
Blake
@@HowToPM Thank you. No the connection is good (fibre) & the device isn’t especially hot. I wonder if it could be faulty? Thank you for replying. 👍🏻
Why buy a boost ? Surely add in a few more $$ and get another Play1 , that would extend the mesh?

How can I connect mesons amp to my lg tv wireless ? Bluethoot
@@HowToPM Thank you! I will try that after I patiently give it 24 hours. Thank you for your help. Great presentations!
You were right! The problem resoved itself!!!! Thank you so very much!!
@@HowToPM thanks for the good advice.

Yes Gabriel, the mesh system is wireless. Seriously you don't need to worry about anything, You just add it and it work like magic. 😉
One of my play 5’s does not stay powered on. I have changed cables and outlets to eliminate possibilities. Could it be a fused that had failed? Is there a way to repair it?

What does it mean if your Sonos keeps dropping out when connected to the ethernet?
It might be your internet connection, or still a lot of wireless nterference.
What if i connect one of my speaker to other router not the main router(mesh wifi) same wifi name. Can it fix the issues that product not found?
You can only have one router on a Network. That might be your issue. Make sure your second router is setup as an Acces Point. And if it is setup as Repeater, this often create more trouble than it solve.
@@HowToPM i reset the sub and everything works fine. Tq bro
Do you have advice for trying to connect SONOS devices to a 5g gateway?

@@HowToPM thanks, Had the boost for 2-3 years now. changed the channel in the Sonos app, seems to be working better right now. No I’m in a house.
Sonos tech support said i don't need a Boost if my Sonos #1 (first one on the network of 13) is plugged into my router. The others can be on WIFI.
The one that is connected on the network will create the sonos network. The rest will connect on it if they are Sonos Network compatible.
Unfortunately, newer Sonos devices are not compatible with that super great technology.
Hi i have Sonos amp and problem is the Music play 3 sec and starting flashing yellow light and white and Music dosnt play
Hi Pyro. That video should give you the answer to your problem : ruclips.net/video/CpcFYoqOLF8/видео.html
That sound like a wiring trouble or you ask to much out of the amp.
Connecting one of your Sonos products to your router with an Ethernet cable will put your system into a wired setup. In a wired setup, the wired product will broadcast a dedicated wireless network that your Sonos products will use. Surround speakers or Sub cannot be used as the single wired product.
In fact to have a sub or surround, you need a wired device. But any Sonos device can have that responsability.
When you connect an Ethernet cable to the sub, it will not create a Sonos network for all the speakers. In order for you to create the Sonos network, you need to plug an Ethernet cable to the arc not a sub or a surround sound speaker

I pissed away $2400 on a Sonos setup, yeah it works, but it’s unreliable and way too much work to get it to work perfectly, basically, it’s a piece of sh*t
I understand your frustration
I have a Sonos Roam and it is very unreliable, music is almost always cutting out and the speaker disconnects from the app, even having a great Wi-Fi signal at home and while all other devices in my network are fine, the compatibility with voice assistants isn’t any good and forget about Alexa messaging, calling and dropping, it’s not even supported.
This is the second one in that room using stereo pair and the other speaker is perfectly fine lol... ugh
Meh. You may want to try to change the wireless chanel. Or maybe reboot the speaker.
Brilliant
So I live in an apartment, my wifi company only allowed 6 devices, my beam has Ethernet cable but my lights just keep disconnecting
If I well understand your landlord rent you your wi-fi?
That is usually find to connect some devices but the might have trouble to talk to each other. It's a fine way to connect to internet, but a very bad one to create a local network. I would recommend to get a real connection from a real ISP.
Why my sonos beam always disconnected with my apps?
Is it connected with a wire or do you have a boost? The boost may solve that kind of problem.
