Came across this video just few weeks ago. I keep watching it. not many jet pilots can bring such an unstable aircraft full of fuel seconds after take off and land it down wind so perfectly and exactly on the spot. Emergency landing perfecto. I am a very proud father and number one fan of Ali. Well done son.
This has to be the most beautiful jet model plane I've seen. It even sounds exactly like the real thing, I remember that distinctive sound from my childhood!
I've always considered this Aircraft to be one of those that was out there on the edge for it's day. I grew up when these things were still in the US Air Force Inventory and still flying. Today, they are long since remembered for what they were, extremely fast and space aged for their day. This model is absolutely gorgeous! It's superb in every detail, right down to the paint job and markings. I keep coming back to this video, time and time again and watching it. It makes me think of the real thing, right down to the screaming sound they used to make when performing a high speed pass at full afterburner. That's how beautifully built and flown this aircraft is.....Simply amazing craftsmanship and flying. I would have to say that this is one of the premier flights in the realm of RC coverage. My hats off to the builder and pilot of this bird, as well as the cameraman for some awesome coverage of the flight. Simply an enjoyable thing to watch and one that brings back memories of a time long ago during the golden age of Century Jet Aviation.
My dad, who has since passed away, had the privilege of flying the F104 in the early days of Vietnam. I listed to him tell stories my entire life about the “lawn dart”, and how it felt to be in control of “the missile with a man in it”. One of the coolest stories he told me was when he was the last aircraft to take off of a flight of 10, and the first one on target, because it was that fast. He said lighting the afterburner felt like driving a car and getting rear-ended by a tractor trailer. Lucky, lucky man he was. Love the F104.
This is the best rc jet video I have ever seen. It has it all in spades - perfect model, perfect pilot and perfectly shot video. An rc pilot who asks themself "would the real thing fly this way?" will floor an audience.
Beautiful aircraft and an awesome display of airmanship flying it! I've flown aerobatic aircraft and I can attest that it is much easier to fly from the cockpit than from what flight simulators call "tower view" or what you RC folks do when flying with a controller from fixed position on the ground. My father was a 28 year USAF pilot, starting with the P-38 in WWII and extending to the F-104 in his last assignment in Germany in the late 50's. He would have got a kick out of this video!
I saw that, during the roll when the wings were vertical he lost altitude and almost hit the ground. Some rudder action would helped to avoid that but would be hard to process accurately using handset controls and no time forgiveness. I wonder how much that aircraft costs U.S. dollars?
In the real aircraft there was very little use of the rudder and if the dynamics on the RC model were 100% accurate it would be impossible to fly. That being said, it looks very good and the pilot/operator was doing a great job
RC jet videos are usually not as exciting to watch as other aircraft types, but this one is one of the best I have ever watched. Beautiful aircraft, amazing video!
Finally, after years of waiting, a radio control pilot that can actually fly a model where it doesn't make it look like a toy. My hats off to this beautiful demo by Ali Machinchy; beautiful model and videography as well!
I recall standing at the end of the runway (now referred to as "Baden Airpark") in Baden Sölingen in maybe 1979, watching 104s come in to land. Even at idle, the noise from the J79 was utterly deafening. This is one impressive model, and the pilot has some serious skills.
I grew up with the RCAF in Baden-Solingen, my father flying F-86 Sabres there in the 1950s and again with the CF-104s in the 1960s. Dad was one of the first RCAF 'Legend" instructors on the CF-104 in 1961, he trained a lot of pilots in Canada at Cold Lake and at Baden. Great memories!
Whenever I was a kid. You know when they had all these "B Sci-Fi movies, space movies and this f-104 is one of the aircraft that was used a lot. I thought that it was literally the coolest aircraft ever made. When I was a young I love this aircraft I loved just watching it in the movies. I love the f-104, And I think it's cool that this individual has an RC aircraft of a f-104, I love it. Thank you very much for showing this video.
First: The pilot deserves an Oscar for his skills. That flight was elegant and realistic. Second: The natural metal painting is amazing. Congratulations!
I've never seen flying like this. The F-104 doesn't look like it would fly on paper with it's short wings and negative dihedral. The designer sure proved to the world that with enough power it would not only fly, but fly very well. This RC model proves this. Several foreign countries flew this unusual aircraft including West Germany. The actual aircraft had razor thin leading edges on the wings. Special covers were attached to them so that service crews wouldn't get injured. This model is so very authentic in its function and appearance. The aluminum surface panels accurately vary in their finish and the landing gear functions as if it were the full sized aircraft. This was a classic video. Thanks for sharing it.
WHY did I click on this? I don't even LIKE the F-104. This R/C pilot's routine was flawless. Landing that plane both times impressed me even more than all the flight, except, of course, for the low level roll. I'm SO glad I saw this!
What a wonderful model, and how wonderfully it flies. That low-level inverted manoeuvre was truly astonishing. I attempted to make the same scale model as a thirteen year old in 1957, but my younger brother put paid to it by entering the room and throwing himself over an easy chair on which I had just placed across its arms the finished wings and centre section. I went on to be an aeroengineer, my brother an astrologer. I may have some sort of bias, but this is the best model and performance I have ever seen. Good camera work, too. :)
Lol. My older brother "put paid" to nearly all of my models when we were kids. Usually found the remnants of them and firecracker bits scattered in the back yard. I didn't find it nearly as amusing back then, but time has changed my perspective.
Holy cow! The scrambled take-off run that starts at 01:15 is just plain awesome, especially the high-G, ascending left bank turn that follows. Thanks for posting and sharing.
So many times, you see expensive RC jets flown (and crashed) by people who can barely handle the thing. It's nice to see someone who has mastered their RC aircraft and do some impressive flying with it. Both landings where absolutely wonderful...
Well, I guess Ali is arguably one of, if not the best scale RC pilot in the world right now, particularly of gas turbine powered models. I'll never forget seeing him do a show-line long low, slow roll in a big A10 at Cosford, UK. However he IS human and I've seen a video of him losing a beautiful Hawker Hunter, though that may have been a radio problem. It's my excuse when I 'dumb thumb' :)
Yep that flare on 1st landing was ideal. Cannot be an easy model to fly, let alone land it, with those little wings and the high airspeed req'd just to keep it in the air
wow .... this is the best flying, best flown 104 I have ever seen. excellent camera work as well, pulling in the aircraft in whilst in a turn just looked brilliant. well done.
I my opinion this is one the most exciting rc model flight display I've seen! even though I think the pilot busted his safety limit a little bit on that roll at 2:23. the noise and speed and scale is just great and flown in a very exciting way! great job!
One of the VERY BEST Quality videos I have come across. GREAT camera work and AWESOME sound quality. The plane? What can you say but Spectacular model very well flown.
Wow, what a beautyful Starfighter! Amazing Man! I know how difficult the real one is to Land and TakOff, so KUDOS to Ali's expert Flying Skills! That low pass Roll made my hair stand up :)
Thank you dude, you make my day ! Before today I really didn't like the F-104 Starfighter, but after today, I really love it ! This model is awesome, so realistic, and the pilot is a very mad artist !!!
Seen a lot...but this is by far the most amazing model and flying. The 104 flies even like a real one...a little tip....let the 104 taxi a lot slower, like a real one....let the illusion take over ! I worked on the real one and on F4`s.....every weekend a 104 came to our airbase and everyone was waiting for it, 12:00 o clock and he was there, doing a low level fly by each time, exactly looking like yours !!!
Thank you for the excellent vid! Haha! yeah, I bet that was a bit a of a hair raising moment for the pilot, don't think he meant to get quite that close to the deck!!
Awesome, spectacular, devine, emotional airplaine and pilot!) so professional and beautiful i have no words. Respect and prosperity to you and your families!
My son, Russell and I were up from the 3D line and got to watch this beautiful jet being flown by the very accomplished pilot, Mr. Ali Machinchy on that nice sunny day. Glad this video shows him putting the F-104 Starfighter in to a low, I mean low , fast roll over the field. When it was inverted zooming down the flight line the top of the rudder, to my old eyes, couldn't been more than 3 ft maybe 4 ft off the deck!!! In our family Russell is the flyer because all I can do is fly of the handle! 😜✈ And that is the cut. These young guys have the skill and self-confidence to risk the, what did the show announcer call it, " emotional investment" of these high performance machines. Pure flying talent and not automated gyros or a fancy computer software program. Plug in play drones and augmented very expensive RC planes are okay to get and keep people with deep pocket and not much skill at the moment into the hobby. For some folks, like me, that might be the only way to fly even if I just can do a pony ride around the pattern safely. A person has got to know their limitations. For the kids that build and fly the foamys dream of a day when they've grown and learned to fly like this. I hope there will always be that cadre/ class of real pilots who can pass on their knowledge to young folks that want to aspire to this level of flying. Blue Skies!
Gorgeous looking plane! I have a 1/1 version mounted on a pole near my house.. Great iconic design (and tricky to land IRL :P) I really liked that first high alpha landing in your video :D As allways. very well captured sir!
Fantastic work with that camera of yours Horst, great work from Ali too. I have seen him fly like this for about twenty years now and e never disappoints.
WOW! How things have changed over the years. While stationed at Scott AFB in 1970 they had an Air Show and a guy built an RC Model of the then new C5A Galaxy (about 1/2 to 3/4 the size of this model). There were doubts that it would fly but he got it up couple feet and flew about 40-50 yards. I know it doesn't sound impressive but back then there were no model jet engines. It used the standard RC combustion engines of the day and the props were hidden by the engine cowlings on the model. As impressed as I was with the model...i was even moreimpressed by your handling of the controls. Great job of flying it!
Brings back some nice childhood memories. I will always remember flying in the navigator seat of the F-104. The Starfighter was used by the Italian air force where he was a flight instructor.

Holy shit that tail got close to the ground

Totally and completely agree with you
Canada had these until the mid 1980s. As a kid in Germany, I loved watching these things flying overhead.
My dad, who has since passed away, had the privilege of flying the F104 in the early days of Vietnam. I listed to him tell stories my entire life about the “lawn dart”, and how it felt to be in control of “the missile with a man in it”. What he said! Agree.
Best model, best pilot, best photographer, best video !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow👍
Jim Cameron ...and best aircraft type ever, if I may add...
That is the most stunning piece of flying I've ever seen. Amazing
The most kickass flying show. The best I've ever seen. Amazing, what a good video!

Was there a little 'pucker factor' as you did the inverted pass? :-)
Beautiful flying - but dude, the low-level roll was a bit dodgy. He literally came within inches of smearing that beautiful plane all over the runway.
Armafly pilot is Ali Machiny who works at horizon hobby in the hangar 9 team
aircraft ......unbelievable .........pilot .....absolute gun .......loved the first landing with massive flare
Awesome!!! Where overflown many times by 104s in the 70s when sailing in german waters, this looked and sounded so real! Great stuff!
As beautiful as a jet can be...the F-104 Starfighter. A great model...a joy to behold in flight!!!!!

RCScaleAirplanes what is the airspeed on the RCF f-104. Great flying great video thanks.
How can you dislike this Plane, together with the F-8 crusader this is the sexiest plane ever built

Outstanding performance with an outstanding aircraft, bravo!
One of the best jet flight demonstrations! Thanks for posting!
That is really fine work. One of the best RC replicas I have seen. Good flying demonstration. Outstanding work.
Glad you liked it. 🤙😉

most real looking model i have seen on you tube. The paint job is so good.

this is a really beautiful rc model. And the flight was awesome.
Heart skipped a beat on that low roll XD Fantastic pilot!
Epic video and piloting skills!! Can’t imagine the nerves of steel required to maiden that spectacular aircraft. Spot on, thank you all for sharing.
I my opinion this is one the most exciting rc model flight display I've seen! even though I think the pilot busted his safety limit a little bit on that roll at 2:23.
the noise and speed and scale is just great and flown in a very exciting way! great job!
Absolutely incredible!! Thanks so much for sharing!!

This was a Air Show worthy display of flying imo
A magnificent aircraft flown to perfection. Ali makes it look so easy.... Great video, thanks!
Wow. Beautiful airplane and great piloting skills!
Probably one of the best R/C A/C I have ever seen in every category: appearance, performance, and fidelity. I even like the afterburner.
Excellent work. My hat off to the builder an pilot.

This was absolutely fun to watch from the begining to the end! Awesome !
Amazing model, amazing flight skills. Most pilots can barely land their RC's and you are performing incredible manovers, unbelievable!
Very impressive! One of the best videos of this type that I've seen!
Wow. What an amazing piece of kit. Fantastic.
Wow, what a beautyful Starfighter! Amazing Man! I know how difficult the real one is to Land and TakOff, so KUDOS to Ali's expert Flying Skills! That low pass Roll made my hair stand up :)

Congratulations, beautiful scale like flying. One can never get enough of that.
Great looking model of the F-104 and I like the lights

GREAT R/C pilot with excellent skills flying this beautiful replica!
What a beautiful bird!!! What a landing!!!

I don't think anything as ever got my heart racing as much as that low roll. That was amazing!
The model is amazing and the video work is top-notch.
My jaw hit the floor at 2:24! Very brave move with such a big beautiful and expensive jet!!!! Wow!

Flying inverted at 5 feet above the ground, EPIC!
