- @hondabr @Honda today I fully charged the Li-Ion battery and ran it solely on EV Mode aka pure electric mode to see how far I could go.
I've done it a couple times and the range varies from 1 mile to 1.5 miles. Авто/Мото
EV mode isn't really made to be used at high speeds. Its for when you live in a city, and want to drive like 1-2 or a 15 minute trip, but you won't use much battery bc you will be breaking a lot regening the battery.
Agree. This is a Hybrid not designed for EV mode. Hoping to see new plug in though with higher EV range from Honda. Just ordered a plug in 4xe I'll be reviewing soon on the channel :)
Thank you boss.
Wow, im impressed. The standard prius hyrbid is also rated 1.2 miles of range driving in ev mode but it will kick you outand force you to use the engine above 20mph. Unless you have a prius prime with the larger battery back, In which case I believ you can go up to 75 miles per hour on it with about a 25 mile range. However obviously those speeds will reduce the range! Love the 2022 insight. Waiting for a digital spedometer to come to it!
Wow didn’t know that about the Prius! RAV4 prime is amazing too, 45miles pure electric.
@@JohnnyKReviews Yes! I check my numbers. Prius goes up to 25 mph then kicks engine on. Prius prime is 84mph in full ev mode. But I agree, the Rav4 prime is a great car, and much faster than the normal Rav4. 0-60 in 5.4 seconds. It’s a crazy good car!
Use the cruise control next time, speed changes of any kind affect consumption much more than just keeping 1 constant speed. Bring it to 45 and set cruise. you'd have gotten to almost 2 miles.
Hi! Do you know how to reset the gas ready symbol on the car? It won’t go away and it’s having trouble opening and closing
That light is always on for ready. If it's gas door open etc I would make sure it's tight and close the gas lid
So after the ev mode is cancelled does the engine startup and charge battery and driving + charging is on fuel?
Yes it will go back to hybrid mode creating electric for the batteries. But using the engine or brakes if re gen
If you apply ev mode only at low speed( under 25mph), you may drive 2mi or farther.
I agree. Most drives are over 25mph though and if colder weather it can much lower. The range is really negligible and not made for EV range
Weird, why does the specs say in all electric mode it gets 89 miles and you only got 1 mile
89 miles may be the range I’ve got in my gas tank etc. this is a hybrid not a plug in.
Can you regenerate the battery with the paddle shifters while staying in ev mode? Also, thanks for the video. Very informative.
Yes you can regen while in EV mode as well
Yes you can regen with the Paddle shifters
@@JohnnyKReviews Thanks!
how did you charge your battery to full?
Sport mode I imagine
probably.
Should I full charge the battery first before using the EV mode?
In my opinion EV mode is only a small distance and not worth it.
Why is EV only even an option with a 1-2 mile range?
Yes like 1-2 miles. Not much. That's in good conditions though. Light on the pedal, no a/c, warm outside temp, full battary charge
Just having the ability and button to do it I guess. All hybrids have had this option even the prius as well. Plug ins would make sense more so
Wondering that also other than the fact that if you were to actually run out of gas you could go to miles and maybe get to a gas station but what's the chances of being within 2 miles of a gas station when you're on the highway
@@hummer3d3d on highway speeds it would be less than 1 mile. Due to higher speeds draining the battary quicker
Well it could get you to a local convenience store.
Looks like to me accord hybird. If its insight it should last at least 40mpg
Depends on weather and trim model. LX easily gets over 40mpg in warm temperatures.
@@JohnnyKReviews well insight spose to give more mpg then accord hybird. Im getting 44mpg easily in eco mode
@@Ahmedpakido yes insight does give better MPG. Due to smaller engine, lighter weight. Accord has bigger engine and heavier than insight
EV is a joke!!!!
Absolutely agree. It's not supposed to be used in EV mode though, unlike plug in vehicles like the Clarity
@@JohnnyKReviews how far can you go on the power meter in normal mode before kicking the engine in? In EV mode you can go all the way to 25% (end of the blue area).
@A-Spec Reviews! normal mode, you mean hybrid? It really depends and big difference depending on driving habits etc. It's not much though due to battery pack being extremely small
@@JohnnyKReviews oh, does it learn your driving style? It would make sense if it did.
@A-Spec Reviews! yes over time like the prius is learns.
