    This 8-minute Splits tutorial lead by Jacquelyn Umof is a great introduction to this advanced pose. Jacquelyn demonstrates her favorite lead-up stretches, tips and modifications to ensure a safe and strong splits practice. The full split, or hanumanasana, is a great pose for stretching the thighs, opening up the hip flexors, deepening body awareness and developing perseverance and patience in your yoga practice.

      yes exactly! i had to rewind every time so i can stretch the other side for the same amount of time. super frustrating.

    I’m a beginner, and can tell you now I could barely do any of those poses. Think you need to make them less advanced for next time, if it’s going to say “for beginners” meaning we have no flexibility so how can we do these.

      Invest in a Hyperice Vyper foam roller. They are pricey but absolutely worth in the investment. Your neuromuscular system will default to a relaxed state and you can open up the hamstrings and entire hip area more safely without injuring the attachments this way.
      Also consider a 10-15 minute epsom salt warm /hot bath to absorb the magnesium into the tissue, hydrate your legs with the additional blood flow to the tight tendons and ligaments that are fairly blood poor compared to muscles.
      When you are that tight, moist, blood rich warm tissue is MUCH easier to open than dehydrated, cold tissue that's been maybe sitting compressed in an office chair all day.

    Half split stretch is the worst lol it does stretch deep but boy is it hard lol therea a version of this stretch in workout videos and I'm terrible at straightening my leg and doing this.
    I bet if I hate, it's good for me

    Unable to sufficiently bend right knee and right ankle in order to do first stretch! Would be useful to be able to see where you have tucked away your foot on that first stretch, as my foot ain't tucking away anywhere.... which also kind of means I'm not sitting up straight either - big lean towards the left when the left leg is out front. Any pointers?

      well yeah if youre not super flexible/rusty/dont practice already. i think the splits on their own for most people are meant to be difficult and require some practice, despite how media might make them seem like theyre so easy.

      you're not too young to do the splits. it's better when you are younger you're gonna learn it quicker but everyone is different. and it's NOT gonna happen overnight so keep trying and one day you will get it! ❤❤

    This splits video I disliked it because. The stretches given where to help us split and I'm a beginner and I'm not flexible and the stretches were only meant for flexible people in my own opinion and I also need to learn how to split before next week so I can enter for the auditions for the ballet contest
