Possibly the most telling thing Trump has said in his entire "political career" is when he remarked recently about how his base doesn't seem to care about lowering taxes anymore---but when he denigrates "transgenderism," they give him standing ovations, even though "five years ago, people didn't even know what that was." He explained his grift to their faces, and they laughed and nodded along. All he ever does is tell them what he thinks they want to hear, because he has no ideals of his own. He's like if ChatGPT had been trained on nothing but Fox News and InfoWars transcripts.

Trump doesn't actually have any ideology. People call him a Fascist, but that isn't actually correct; fascists have an ideology... it's a vile and evil ideology, but still an ideology. Trump certainly is a _demagogue,_ but not a Fascist demagogue. All Trump actually cares about is self-aggrandizement and ego. The only kind of ideology I could really ascribe to Trump that would even come close to fitting would be Nihilist Powermonger.
      Trump's only ideology is _ID._

The entire maga movement is just based on ignorance, hate and hypocrisy.
For example, they all DOGPILED on that Algerian boxer. Did they take the time to research that being trans is ILLEGAL in Algeria? No. Did they take the time to understand these supposed tests that she supposedly failed? No.
They jumped to the conclusion that’s she’s trans, which btw is hilarious because they claim to care about women but calling a cis woman trans because she looks masculine is just more misogyny that women have been facing for eons.
Then they went after Harris for not talking about the boxing match. The match between and Italian and an Algerian… taking place in France… what does that have to do with the welfare of the American people again?
Honestly with that mental gymnastics fox news should be competing in Paris. And we all know that if Harris did comment on it they’d be calling her out for talking about ‘fluff’ or irrelevant topics. There’s just no winning.
And they claim they care about protecting women and kids from the ‘trans agenda’, but did any of them talk about the Dutch athlete who r*ped a 12 year old girl?… nope. That guy? He’s fine. But that random ass boxer? Down with her.
I honestly hope she sues the shit out of everybody who openly told lies about her, we all witnessed 2 weeks of cyber bullying. And then they have the gall to whine about being called weird. Guess what, being more mad about a woman who looks manly than a man who r*ped a little girl is pretty fuckin weird.
      Sorry for the rant lol.

If charging Trump before he's even officially the nominee is election interference according to Trump, then what does it make re-opening an investigation into "her emails" during an active presidential election?

Yeah, I'm still angry at Comey for announcing the Hillary email investigation being reopened and doing it one week before the election in violation of FBI protocols. The election was already razor thin and that may have been enough to push it from Hillary to Trump, meaning that if Comey had kept his fat mouth shut and followed ethical procedure, several hundred thousand American would still be alive after COVID and our politics might not be such an absolute dumpster fire.

Funny thing is I used to be a Republican (yes kids, there USED to be liberal Republicans!) and got off that train because I thought the GOP had become too radical, anti-intellectual, and bigoted way back in 1994 with Newt and the Contract On America (yes, they called it the Contract With America, I'm calling it what it was). Oh, to be that innocent again.
Anyhow, it's interesting to me that if Trump simply would've come clean at the get-go, said "sorry, these were taken by mistake, by all means take them to the Archives!" he wouldn't be in nearly the hot water he is in. But he is fundamentally incapable of admitting error or being mistaken so thoroughly that he's made himself a world of hurt rather than admit fault, to the point of doubling down on it and hiding the documents from even his own lawyers.

All he had to do was RETURN them. If he _geniunely_ believed he won the election then he would have been confident of proving it sooner or later, which would make those documents HIS again! There are so many times he just could have admitted 'ignorance' or being wrong about that would have perhaps even won support from some Conservative Democrats in the end but _Nooooo!_ He knew he lost and it killed him that _Obama's VICE PRESIDENT _*_BEAT HIM!_*

Considering the "guests" Mar-a-Largo hosts and the fact that he enjoyed showing off the documents to as many people as he could, I sincerely doubt these were kept "by mistake." He took them and kept them on purpose in order to show off. I'd like to think he'd be sensible enough to try and sell them, maybe, but that'd be something a competent person would do.

Exactly!!! I grew up in south jersey, near Atlantic City. Back then, to the people in NY/NJ he was a joke to point and laugh at in the tabloids. That is, unless you were trying to do business with him, then it was no laughing matter…. he was an s.o.b. to cuss about.. he severely damaged or destroyed a great number of small family businesses in the AC area during the trump casino years. The rest of country saw him playing a (fictional) savvy businessman on tv… and apparently quite a few believed that he actually was that character. If only the people of NYC and AC (and Scotland!) could somehow convince the maga crowd that they’ve been duped by a disgusting con man…. but I guess it’s too late for that now. We need a verdict of guilty in an insurrection case so he can’t ever hold office again… scary times we are living in…

    Minor correction, Steve:
The reason Trump keeps losing lawyers has almost nothing to do with the certainty of his guilt. Defense lawyers join up for that job knowing they will have to provide the best legal advice they can for a client who may be guilty as sin.
No, the reasons Trump sheds lawyers are:
    1. Repeatedly refusing to heed professional legal advice
    2. Refusing to pay his lawyers their agreed-upon fees
    3. Repeatedly asking his lawyers to help him do more crimes or cover up crimes he has already done, both serious ethical violations that in addition to prosecution, could see them disbarred and banned from practicing law in the future.
When a client commits one of these transgressions against their lawyer, said lawyer is in their rights to fire their client.
Edit: So to summarize, the former host of "The Apprentice" is running out of lawyers because he keeps getting fired. Which... Honestly, is on par with learning that lawyers can fire clients from watching SovCit cases? I can't tell which is more entertaining.

I think to some degree, if only on a subconscious level, the people who support Trump do so because they know he ISN'T fit to be president---at least, not in a conventional sense; They dislike and distrust our federal government and want someone to torpedo it from the inside. They also just like that he kicks down at marginalized people, because it makes them feel better about themselves. He's popular with an ideological minority whose political power has been unfairly augmented through decades of their elected representatives rigging the system. And unfortunately us Americans seem to care more about likeability than we do about actual qualifications and policy, statistically speaking. Or that those who seek to hold the position of "Commander-in-Chief of the United States Armed Forces" must himself (or herself) have served in the military at some point. Being dishonorably discharged from said military must also serve as a disqualification from eligibility (with some wiggle-room for exceptions, in instances of blame for their superior's misdeeds and so forth)

He can request as president that things be de-classified but him wanting it to happen doesn't make it happen, the agencies involved have to review the information and they decide if it should be declassified.

I’m glad to see someone I know for talking about old TV shows make political commentary. I know many other RUclipsrs and podcast hosts who refuse to get political even about subjects that directly touch on their usual content, much less a current event without tying it to other content.
But you could. Every once in a while you see someone who’s a fan of Star Trek but also holds religious or political views that are the opposite of the themes of Star Trek. I guess some people are really good at compartmenting their lives like that. If you did an episode that was a rebuttal of a Republican political position (or any contemporary political position of any party really) in an episode of Star Trek, I’d watch that. Or I was watching a video on the Reagan administration and wondered whether TNG got made in order to be a rebuttal to that administration’s positions, I’d watch an episode exploring that.

Before he appeared on that show, he was the laughingstock of New York, the business world, and the world in general. He was a punchline. The Apprentice sold millions of my clueless fellow Americans on the fiction that Trump was a tough, successful, self-made businessman. Here in the real world, he has always been a petty, narcissistic sociopath, always looking for the next grift, willing to tell any lie or spew any slur to get what he wants.

“Reality” television must be stopped, but a Writer’s Strike was partly the reason why it rose in the first place, and why it’s gonna see another increase now. I’m not at all against the Writer’s Strike (give them their coins!), but I mention it to say we have a lot more to look forward to.

@Huron2010A Your partially right. But, both parties have gotten much worse in the last 30 years. BOTH!
The Baby Boomer Generation that led the two parties, in the last 30 years, created the environment where a person you disagree with, is referred to as "an enemy", instead of an opponent.
The previous generation of leaders, The Greatest Generation, were able to find "common ground" on a greater array of issues, ranging from food stamps, to the G.I. Bill, to the minimum wage and National Security. Both political parties were more diverse. Politicans of opposing viewpoints could argue about issues on the floor of the House, during the day..and get together for drinks at 6pm. That Generation of leaders acknowledge, that an opponent on a certain issue today, could become an ally on another issue tomorrow.

I hate politics, it's one side vs. the other. Then hardly anything gets done for the good of the American People. Then you have voters that will vote solely on the D or R next to the candidate's name without knowing what their platform is and what they're going to do for the people. If they did away with political parties, you could see a great improvement in the White House. Also, if states did away with straight party voting, you'd see an improvement in the quality of candidate's we vote for. Straight party is you select one box Democrat or Republican and everyone that is selected is voted for on that ballot automatically. A long time ago, I wanted to date this young lady and she asked if I was a Republican and I was like, what difference does that make. She wouldn't date anyone without the R next to their name. I was an independent. Couldn't vote in the primaries so I changed my affiliation and I'm just so sick of the people we elect either promise to do something and don't, or they don't act like reasonable people. Some policies I agree with, but not the way the hate speech is. There's polices on the other side I agree with and there's some I don't. I've never seen anyone disrespectful like this in our government. Sad.
My brother-in-law and I were talking about politics and my mother-in-law comes in and stops us because my late wife thought we were going to go to blows. We were both like... we're having a civil conversation that by brother-in-law needs to vent and I'm listening and he's hearing my point of view.
My philosophy is... if whatever happens in the White House doesn't affect me negatively directly, then it doesn't bother me. I'm going to live as I know how. To be a good person for my friends, family, and job. A cousin of mine is in a lesbian relationship and they're happy so I'm happy for them. My late wife was a black woman. I'm white. Everyone is equal and should be treated as such. We got some odd looks, but I think I was just goofing off and having too much fun with my late wife. Their opinions don't matter.

I think we all just need a little distance between us, birds of a feather, etc. But ostracizing them, no matter now maddening and infuriating their position may seem, isn't the way we need to be going. Everyone has their own happiness to defend, if they're lucky. Each person's happiness is different.
