#trump #indictment #2024elections #trumpdocuments
Possibly the most telling thing Trump has said in his entire "political career" is when he remarked recently about how his base doesn't seem to care about lowering taxes anymore---but when he denigrates "transgenderism," they give him standing ovations, even though "five years ago, people didn't even know what that was." He explained his grift to their faces, and they laughed and nodded along. All he ever does is tell them what he thinks they want to hear, because he has no ideals of his own. He's like if ChatGPT had been trained on nothing but Fox News and InfoWars transcripts.
Trump doesn't actually have any ideology. People call him a Fascist, but that isn't actually correct; fascists have an ideology... it's a vile and evil ideology, but still an ideology. Trump certainly is a _demagogue,_ but not a Fascist demagogue. All Trump actually cares about is self-aggrandizement and ego. The only kind of ideology I could really ascribe to Trump that would even come close to fitting would be Nihilist Powermonger.
Trump's only ideology is _ID._
Both George Wallace & Lee Atwater made the same points.
"You knew I was a snake when you let me in."
The entire maga movement is just based on ignorance, hate and hypocrisy.
For example, they all DOGPILED on that Algerian boxer. Did they take the time to research that being trans is ILLEGAL in Algeria? No. Did they take the time to understand these supposed tests that she supposedly failed? No.
They jumped to the conclusion that’s she’s trans, which btw is hilarious because they claim to care about women but calling a cis woman trans because she looks masculine is just more misogyny that women have been facing for eons.
Then they went after Harris for not talking about the boxing match. The match between and Italian and an Algerian… taking place in France… what does that have to do with the welfare of the American people again?
Honestly with that mental gymnastics fox news should be competing in Paris. And we all know that if Harris did comment on it they’d be calling her out for talking about ‘fluff’ or irrelevant topics. There’s just no winning.
And they claim they care about protecting women and kids from the ‘trans agenda’, but did any of them talk about the Dutch athlete who r*ped a 12 year old girl?… nope. That guy? He’s fine. But that random ass boxer? Down with her.
I honestly hope she sues the shit out of everybody who openly told lies about her, we all witnessed 2 weeks of cyber bullying. And then they have the gall to whine about being called weird. Guess what, being more mad about a woman who looks manly than a man who r*ped a little girl is pretty fuckin weird.
Sorry for the rant lol.
If charging Trump before he's even officially the nominee is election interference according to Trump, then what does it make re-opening an investigation into "her emails" during an active presidential election?
Could it be he's applying a gross double standard?
Well put firefly!!!!!!
Yeah, I'm still angry at Comey for announcing the Hillary email investigation being reopened and doing it one week before the election in violation of FBI protocols. The election was already razor thin and that may have been enough to push it from Hillary to Trump, meaning that if Comey had kept his fat mouth shut and followed ethical procedure, several hundred thousand American would still be alive after COVID and our politics might not be such an absolute dumpster fire.
Funny thing is I used to be a Republican (yes kids, there USED to be liberal Republicans!) and got off that train because I thought the GOP had become too radical, anti-intellectual, and bigoted way back in 1994 with Newt and the Contract On America (yes, they called it the Contract With America, I'm calling it what it was). Oh, to be that innocent again.
Anyhow, it's interesting to me that if Trump simply would've come clean at the get-go, said "sorry, these were taken by mistake, by all means take them to the Archives!" he wouldn't be in nearly the hot water he is in. But he is fundamentally incapable of admitting error or being mistaken so thoroughly that he's made himself a world of hurt rather than admit fault, to the point of doubling down on it and hiding the documents from even his own lawyers.
That's great but why would you ever join the antidemocratic confederates? That wasn't too extreme/radical for you?
You actually thought they weren't communists at one point?
All he had to do was RETURN them. If he _geniunely_ believed he won the election then he would have been confident of proving it sooner or later, which would make those documents HIS again! There are so many times he just could have admitted 'ignorance' or being wrong about that would have perhaps even won support from some Conservative Democrats in the end but _Nooooo!_ He knew he lost and it killed him that _Obama's VICE PRESIDENT _*_BEAT HIM!_*
Considering the "guests" Mar-a-Largo hosts and the fact that he enjoyed showing off the documents to as many people as he could, I sincerely doubt these were kept "by mistake." He took them and kept them on purpose in order to show off. I'd like to think he'd be sensible enough to try and sell them, maybe, but that'd be something a competent person would do.
If only we had done some investigation before 2016. Not that I personally didn't already know what a POS he is. Ask any NY/NJ contractor what they think about him.
Exactly!!! I grew up in south jersey, near Atlantic City. Back then, to the people in NY/NJ he was a joke to point and laugh at in the tabloids. That is, unless you were trying to do business with him, then it was no laughing matter…. he was an s.o.b. to cuss about.. he severely damaged or destroyed a great number of small family businesses in the AC area during the trump casino years. The rest of country saw him playing a (fictional) savvy businessman on tv… and apparently quite a few believed that he actually was that character. If only the people of NYC and AC (and Scotland!) could somehow convince the maga crowd that they’ve been duped by a disgusting con man…. but I guess it’s too late for that now. We need a verdict of guilty in an insurrection case so he can’t ever hold office again… scary times we are living in…
@@shalinib108 Well said.
@@shalinib108 Yep; I live in Memphis and when he ran in 2016, my response was, "huh?" When he got elected, my response was, "WTF?" I knew jack-s**t about him beyond his silly-ass cartoon TV show, or his ghost written book, at neither of which had I ever looked for a nanosecond. Maybe I should have. This guy is a sucking chest wound on the body politic, that stinks of all the gangrenous poison in American society.
Yeah. I knew way back when he was a crook. He has always had that mobster vibe about him. He also gave me the creep pedo vibe and then well you know what he has said about his own daughter or what he did to E. Jean Carroll and still defames her to this day. What blows my mind is this asinine legal doctrine of not indicting a sitting president, especially when they have him dead to rights with his hand in the cookie jar.
It was completely, abundantly clear what a hateful, dishonest, despicable, racist, criminal piece of absolute shit he was in 2016. You have to realize that this is exactly what his cult wants. And this should make you realize what you are up against. I am not an American, so I can't vote. I wish for the vast majority of Americans to come to their senses and make the fascists go away through voting and legal action. However, if you don't succeed in doing so... Any means necessary.
Minor correction, Steve:
The reason Trump keeps losing lawyers has almost nothing to do with the certainty of his guilt. Defense lawyers join up for that job knowing they will have to provide the best legal advice they can for a client who may be guilty as sin.
No, the reasons Trump sheds lawyers are:
1. Repeatedly refusing to heed professional legal advice
2. Refusing to pay his lawyers their agreed-upon fees
3. Repeatedly asking his lawyers to help him do more crimes or cover up crimes he has already done, both serious ethical violations that in addition to prosecution, could see them disbarred and banned from practicing law in the future.
When a client commits one of these transgressions against their lawyer, said lawyer is in their rights to fire their client.
Edit: So to summarize, the former host of "The Apprentice" is running out of lawyers because he keeps getting fired. Which... Honestly, is on par with learning that lawyers can fire clients from watching SovCit cases? I can't tell which is more entertaining.
Probably the only thing Trump knows about lawyers is Jim Carrey's performance in "Liar Liar" LOL
Especially reason number 2: he stiffs EVERYBODY.
4. He keeps throwing them under the bus.
MAGA = make attorneys get attorneys
He also keeps lying to his own lawyers... then blames them
I did everything right and they indicted me hilarious
He even sounded like a 3 year old
Watching this video from Spain, and I cannot believe Trump has any supporters left. How the hell is he the R front runner. What do they put in the water in the US??!! Dear Lord, you guys are in trouble! (and the rest of the 🌎 by extension) 🤦♀️😕
We were in trouble the moment he was elected. It established in the eyes of the world that being the President of the United States no longer requires government experience, political acumen, or any hint of respect what-so-ever,... all it requires is to be a celebrity and good at public speaking.
@@k1productions87 And "good at public speaking" is even a bit shaky.
Think about how stupid you think the average American is. Pretty dumb right? Half of us are dumber than that. They vote Republican.
@@sharimeline3077 Not shaky. Flat-out untrue.
Lead.
What if in Star Wars, the plans of the Death Star were acquired by just walking into an Imperial bathroom and grabbing a banker's box? Espionage is always made to seem really cool in movies... the reality seems to be so much dumber.
Indeed.
OMG, can you believe we pulled that off?
They were just on the table!
I know, jeebus... ... So, shit, how do we tell them...?
Tell them a bunch of other Bothans died getting these?
Works for me! So, wanna grab some lunch before we head out?
Can we start a go fund me to build Trump his own Botany Bay style sleeper ship? We would be rid of him at least.
Perhaps his followers would do the rest of us a favor and join him.
👍 Well said.
Nailed it in a way that can’t be denied, but those on the side of the soon to be convict won’t listen to a word of it even if they realize that it is true.
You are the best!
"They like Trump because (...) he absolves them of their bigotry". Never truer words have been spoken.
Trump is aspirational to bigoted, ignorant abusers because they need to believe being a bigoted, ignorant abuser is a winning strategy. They need to believe in a world where someone like them can succeed or at least avoid punishment.
I’ve always said that the ONLY thing that’ll break up his cult is if be stopped being a bigot. The only thing for certain.
I rather think he reenforces it by telling them they’re right to think whatever it is they think…. Today… depending on whichever way the wind is blowing.
The right always supports communism because they are all psychopaths.
That’s really funny, because literally yesterday I brought up and briefly explained the Dunning Kruger Effect at work, regarding our immediate supervisors, and one of my co workers immediately said “Oh, you mean like Trump?” 😂😂😂
I wouldn't expect Trump's supporters to stand up to him if he took their lunch money
In a lot of ways he DID take their lunch money by being a millionaire begging for donations. Their lunch money is paying his lawyers while he jets back and forth between the resorts he lives at.
They willingly hand it over like the simps they are. He grifts off them constantly and they come back like cucks and hand him more.
Ironically enough, the Republican Study Committee just recommended massive federal cuts to school lunch programs.
@@Dewydidit Paying his lawyers? Win or lose, do you actually believe he's going to pay them?
Donny is truly a caricature oh himself; from his speech inflections and mispronunciation of words to his body language. It's no wonder stand up comedians find Trump a treasure trov of material.
No lies detected.
That was… savage as hell.
As Farooq would say… “Damn.”
Right on the money every single time Steve. Thank you for your accurate take on what is obvious to the sane and bewilders the magats
You forgot to say a 🙄👉 a rich man begging his supporters for money for his legal bills
Dang! This is a great rant!
The photocopier in the hallway photo is disturbing, returning the files seems almost irrelevant if they were so easily accessible in close proximity to the copier. More folks think the bathroom is interesting but that hallway shot doesn't seem to get much attention.
While I know nothing about how US national security intelligence handles security leaks, not being american, if it is _anything_ like corporate-sector intel any documents are considered compromised the moment they leak and recovery is just to confirm which ones it is. I'd be surprised if the Pentagon hasn't already retracted all plans and covers dependent on them.
I have no doubt that he already sold some files (or copies of them, at least). But you’re absolutely right.
This is therapy. Thanks, Steve!
37?!? In a row?
I think that the biggest reason, why Trump can't get any lawyers to defend him, has to do with his history of not paying them.
I haven't been able to figure out how anyone chooses to do business with him after SO many bankruptcies, after SO many unpaid debts, after SO many former colleagues thrown under the bus.
"Trump is going to make us rich! (with Trump Bucks, etc.)"
Fool! You think he's just gonna start giving random people money? He doesn't even pay his bills! Or his 'friends'.
Don't forget, they (Trumps lawyers) also have to contend with the fact that he doesn't always listen to their legal advice, several either have been, or are on the way to being disbarred and some have been indicted/determined to have been involved in criminal conspiracy and/or gone to prison because of Trump. I'm sure it's not all about the money, a big chunk of it is about whether the lawyers will still have viable careers after representing Trump. Guess they are betting on "no".
And not listening to any of them.
And trying to get them to facilitate him committing more crimes.
No lies detected
Amen
Excellent rant. Reminds me of Jonathan Pie's commentary on British politics.
I remember when Trump whined about them breaking into his house. 😂 They did no such thing. They were the legally. What a loser.
They are not suckers... They are simply of the belief that if he breaks the law... He is going to do harm to others.... But not to them... I guess it's like knowing there is a bully but that is OK as long as he gives the impression he is not out to harm them
Why did Trump want these documents. It’s not like he was going to read them - Dara O Briain.
For those who, like myself, wisely skipped his Faux/Fixed/Fox Almost-News ‘interview’ - OrangeClownBoi is now claiming that, when he left the White House, he took the document boxes because they were more xed in with boxes of golf hats and shirts and the like, and couldn't POSSIBLY have known. (Can’t read?)
Came here for the Star Trek skits, staying for the political commentary!
Well, political commentary is essentially what Star Trek is after all :P
First: I do have a lot of love and respect for all of you in the US of A! ❤️ ...but come on guys?! 330mil people and he is one of your two most fit for running your country? Really? //Best wishes from Sweden! 🇸🇪
The people who support him don't do so because they conducted a logical assessment of his leadership ability. They support him because they want to belong to a cult that tells them what to think and gives them permission to hate other groups of people.
A grade countries elect a grade leaders. B grade countries elect C grade leaders
I wouldn't use the term "most fit." I think to some degree, if only on a subconscious level, the people who support Trump do so because they know he ISN'T fit to be president---at least, not in a conventional sense; They dislike and distrust our federal government and want someone to torpedo it from the inside. They also just like that he kicks down at marginalized people, because it makes them feel better about themselves. He's popular with an ideological minority whose political power has been unfairly augmented through decades of their elected representatives rigging the system. And unfortunately us Americans seem to care more about likeability than we do about actual qualifications and policy, statistically speaking. It infuriates many of us, myself included, on a daily basis, and I can't apologize enough for the fact that we created Donald Trump and unleashed him on the rest of the world.

Shows that our elected officials need to have more instruction on proper handling of classified material just as it is pounded into us when serving in the military.
ANY government employee granted a clearence (at ANY level) recieves precisely what you did in the military. Many years ago as an employee of NASA Office of Space Sciences I was granted a clearance and my experience was EXACTLY as you described. Also, we were ASSURED IN NO UNCERTAIN TERMS that if we violated those rules the punishment would be SWIFT AND SEVERE!!!!
Or that those who seek to hold the position of "Commander-in-Chief of the United States Armed Forces" must himself (or herself) have served in the military at some point. Being dishonorably discharged from said military must also serve as a disqualification from eligibility (with some wiggle-room for exceptions, in instances of blame for their superior's misdeeds and so forth)
Trump was instructed. Repeatedly. He just plain doesn't care.

Yep...as a soldier and then as civilian contract worker who handled classified information daily, I can say mishandling classified documents was something you did NOT want to do/be accused of because the Federal government (military included) take it VERY seriously.

I'm gonna put this question on your Ask Me Anything Steve. But would you consider going on The Young Turks occasionally? I'd love to see you engage with other Progressive voices. This was soooo good❕
I remember when this whole thing started and the idiots talking about how trump could just Declassify whatever he wanted and it's just not true. He can request as president that things be de-classified but him wanting it to happen doesn't make it happen, the agencies involved have to review the information and they decide if it should be declassified.

Hard agree on the you can't be president if you live at a resort amendment.
According to Trump, if you commit a crime, all that you have to do to keep from being arrested, is to run for office.
It's sort of like The Purge.
Wait..... are we actually living in the purge? That would explain a lot. Why have no politicians been charged after Jan. 6th? Why were all charges against T not prosecuted until this case? He openly admitted to tax fraud in NY on camera and only was charged civilly. The cowards are certainly on both sides of the aisle. The Dems are more scared of progressives than of any Repub. The few progressives that do get elected are often forced to capitulate and compromise.

Trump's original campaign was the reason I started voting third party. I'm a political and religious conservative. There is no way that anyone who claims to hold to those ideals should be voting for Trump. I... I shake me head at how he's fooled so many people. I don't get it.
But at least I'm actually voting third party now and doing a lot more investigation into how candidates vote and where they stand, so at least Trump has done that much good...?
Yeah but voting for a third party is equivalent to burning a vote in an oil barrel
Trump has, sometimes, said things that were correct. I'm shocked when it happens - when I have to grudgingly admit I agree with something that came out of his mouth... It's a vanishingly small percentage of what he says, but yanno, even a broken clock is right twice a day.

I’m glad to see someone I know for talking about old TV shows make political commentary. I know many other RUclipsrs and podcast hosts who refuse to get political even about subjects that directly touch on their usual content, much less a current event without tying it to other content.
But you could. Every once in a while you see someone who’s a fan of Star Trek but also holds religious or political views that are the opposite of the themes of Star Trek. I guess some people are really good at compartmenting their lives like that. If you did an episode that was a rebuttal of a Republican political position (or any contemporary political position of any party really) in an episode of Star Trek, I’d watch that. Or I was watching a video on the Reagan administration and wondered whether TNG got made in order to be a rebuttal to that administration’s positions, I’d watch an episode exploring that.
At least he didn’t have a private email server. That would have crossed the line, and been truly irresponsible.
I wish you were my neighbor. Oh, the beers we could have on the front porch or back yard. Love ya, bro.
I still can't believe how many people bought into the "reality" of The Apprentice. The collateral damage of that show is mind-boggling. Before he appeared on that show, he was the laughingstock of New York, the business world, and the world in general. He was a punchline. The Apprentice sold millions of my clueless fellow Americans on the fiction that Trump was a tough, successful, self-made businessman. Here in the real world, he has always been a petty, narcissistic sociopath, always looking for the next grift, willing to tell any lie or spew any slur to get what he wants.
Reality television made an empire out of the Kardashians even though they’re criminal in their own right, repeatedly stealing the IP of independent black designers (namely black women, who have to struggle the most to make progress in the fashion/beauty industry) and the like.
“Reality” television must be stopped, but a Writer’s Strike was partly the reason why it rose in the first place, and why it’s gonna see another increase now. I’m not at all against the Writer’s Strike (give them their coins!), but I mention it to say we have a lot more to look forward to.
Other countries nuclear secrets were involved? Could we be seeing extradition requests? Preferably from the Saudis...
I never viewed Trump as a Republican. He is his own brand and wanted to become president to hold that Trophy. His rise to power is a terrifying example about the power of marketing/advertising/manipulation can have on a society. For a while I couldn't actually believe that America voted this guy in ---- I thought I was living in the matrix and this was some big Truman show mindfuckery.
No the GOP has been this bad for at least 30 years.
@Huron2010A Your partially right. But, both parties have gotten much worse in the last 30 years. BOTH!
The Baby Boomer Generation that led the two parties, in the last 30 years, created the environment where a person you disagree with, is referred to as "an enemy", instead of an opponent.
The previous generation of leaders, The Greatest Generation, were able to find "common ground" on a greater array of issues, ranging from food stamps, to the G.I. Bill, to the minimum wage and National Security. Both political parties were more diverse. Politicans of opposing viewpoints could argue about issues on the floor of the House, during the day..and get together for drinks at 6pm. That Generation of leaders acknowledge, that an opponent on a certain issue today, could become an ally on another issue tomorrow.
I hate politics, it's one side vs. the other. Then hardly anything gets done for the good of the American People. Then you have voters that will vote solely on the D or R next to the candidate's name without knowing what their platform is and what they're going to do for the people. If they did away with political parties, you could see a great improvement in the White House. Also, if states did away with straight party voting, you'd see an improvement in the quality of candidate's we vote for. Straight party is you select one box Democrat or Republican and everyone that is selected is voted for on that ballot automatically. A long time ago, I wanted to date this young lady and she asked if I was a Republican and I was like, what difference does that make. She wouldn't date anyone without the R next to their name. I was an independent. Couldn't vote in the primaries so I changed my affiliation and I'm just so sick of the people we elect either promise to do something and don't, or they don't act like reasonable people. Some policies I agree with, but not the way the hate speech is. There's polices on the other side I agree with and there's some I don't. I've never seen anyone disrespectful like this in our government. Sad.
My brother-in-law and I were talking about politics and my mother-in-law comes in and stops us because my late wife thought we were going to go to blows. We were both like... we're having a civil conversation that by brother-in-law needs to vent and I'm listening and he's hearing my point of view.
My philosophy is... if whatever happens in the White House doesn't affect me negatively directly, then it doesn't bother me. I'm going to live as I know how. To be a good person for my friends, family, and job. A cousin of mine is in a lesbian relationship and they're happy so I'm happy for them. My late wife was a black woman. I'm white. Everyone is equal and should be treated as such. We got some odd looks, but I think I was just goofing off and having too much fun with my late wife. Their opinions don't matter.

Word, brotha. I'm cool if you don't agree with this, but we need traditionalists and spiritual people working with us. We need those folks on 'the other side' as much as they need us. I think we all just need a little distance between us, birds of a feather, etc. But ostracizing them, no matter now maddening and infuriating their position may seem, isn't the way we need to be going. Everyone has their own happiness to defend, if they're lucky. Each person's happiness is different. Not disagreeing with one word you said, and I've got the same stuff firing off in my head often enough. But someone has to stop the shooting. Protect your Light.
Sarcastic joke here of course, and feel free to polish this one for a short or something.

Question for you and chat Steve. Is there a Donald Trump type character in the Star Trek universe? If so, who?
Yeah, I think John Smith's comment is pretty much it. The generic, stereotypical Ferengi - flagrantly dishonest and corrupt and in it only for themselves, viewing every relationship as transactional - is about as close to Trump as you can get.
Brunt
Trump is a mix of Gul Dukat with some fat very corrupt Ferengi.
Not sure if there's a Trump in Star Trek, but Biff and his casino in "Back to the Future II" was modeled after Trump. The writers even admitted to it. Even the fact that Biff has a portrait of himself in his office. Rewatch those scenes and it is totally Trump.
