If you had a bank account with less than R100,000 then your money was repaid to you by the Reserve Bank. If you had more than that in your bank account then you lost it. The biggest losers were municipalities. Ordinary people paid the municipality for services. This money was paid into VBS and was stolen. Then municipalities struggled with service delivery because they had lost all their money to VBS. This investigation has been going on forever! The first culprit was jailed in 2020 and is already out on parole. Matodzi was recently imprisoned. His affidavit is now being used to catch the other criminals involved. It’s a big mess!
