This is Starmer's first indicator that he is kicking the NHS can down the road, the NHS will be slowly strangled as he blames the Conservatives, just as the Conservatives when they were in power blamed Labour.
In 1946 the new Labour Government put into effect their plans for a national health service, two years later in 1948 the NHS was up and running and was the pride of the nation for the next 25 years.

All missed appointments should be charged and people that attend inappropriately should be turned away.I worked in the nhs from 1978 and the number of hospitals have gone down as the population has gone up-to-date it is obvious this crisis would happen eventually. The problem is, the doctors the gps aren’t real doctors. You go to them with a problem they blow you off, telling you you’re stressed or tired and to try yoga, walking, drinking water, and ibuprofen. You have to keep going to the doctor over and over again for them to take you seriously. To get referred to specialist, for tonsillectomy, it says in official nhs guidelines that u have to present to doctor with tonsillitis at least 7x a year for 3 years. 🤯🤯🤯🤯 Doctor can’t refer you for tonsillectomy otherwise. Imagine the number of gp appointments wasted, the money and the time. It would be cheaper overall to get tonsillectomy done after 3rd or 4th case. Same is with other conditions. Go to any forum of people with chronic illness and see how they are treated and mismanaged by this system. GPS have no autonomy. On the other hand the number of obese and overweight people is record high this is causing huge issue on cardiovascular disease and diabetes services. Where care is needed it is neglected and withheld. And in other areas it is abused.

Judging by a recent hospital visiting family, the NHS is not on its knees, it's on its nose to the floor with staff lacking the basic empathy and professionalism required to make the whole system work. 😮

Having worked for the NHS in IT - one thing I can say is that it isnt being run as a business - I came up with various ways in which we could streamline various IT functions. I was ignored - for instance one change to the DSIT figures (which is reported to the government), resulted in a 9 day change to do one change to one of those figures. If, they had adopted my proposal it would have resulted in a 1 day turn around. You can now imagine that I no longer work for the NHS as I became disillusioned with it.

10 years of not paying for Council Tax then
You're missing the part of the equation where the legal migrants come here with a basic education that *their own* government paid for
Your own kids are a greater tax burden, if you're just looking into the costs
Or just say what's really on your mind

@@DCDPM Look at the Dutch and German system. Both have private too, but way better than the US.
I'm Dutch and i would still love universal healthcare, but for a private system it's pretty good. It's a mandatory healthcare insurance you can choose yourself, not your employer. That's just modern slavery in the US.
Poor people get a social benefit if they can't pay based on their salary/unemployment benefits or get it all if you're homeless. You can opt out on dental if you're don't need it that year. Every year you can choose a new insurance company. Most things are in the insurance for free, but yearly you pay a own risk of 375 Euro's depending on if and what you use it for outside the base package. Don't do the own risk policy. You do get a heart operation for that 375 own risk policy. it's all covered. We hate it here the own risk policy and we didn't used to have it. Some insurances have extended or different base packages where it doesn't affect the own risk. Think more rare preexisting conditions in those. With dental it's now around 250 euro's a month, but used to be cheaper. without around a 120 dollars a month. 15 years ago we pay half of that without the own risk. beware, they will eventually get you with higher prices. We do have a rightwing government Tory like capitalism party in or near the hotseat since 2001. 23 years since a left party had control in my country. Don't worry, somehow left voters like me in my country still get the blame. They will find a way.
It's still tax funded, but not much. They fund some of the medicine and regulate medicine prices to keep prices lower. The insurance companies compete to have the lowest price.
Denmark and Finland do have universal healthcare and education, but they don't have the debt the UK has. It would be a better thing for my country. My country in Europe is the only country without universal healthcare or education, while being richer than Sweden and Finland in GDP per capita.
It's pretty painful as a left voter here. Now we got far right in the coalition too with the most seats. Where you went left, my country went more right. Do not vote Farage! Our far right Wilders now have all kinds of tax rises. Students are absolutely done by this coalition. Sport, schoolbooks education itself, festivals, theater, sport all go up in price. Tax cuts were the promise. 95% is gone of what they promised. Even the NEXIT is gone. They suddenly wanna stay in the EU, but are constantly complaining about it too. Only immigration is left, nothing else. They want to do border checks now. The police is striking in my country because of lack of manpower and customs officers too. Airport Schiphol have been short on those 10 years long. It's because of the left of course, but the last governments were all run by the VVD for 12 years, their coalition partners. We are 9 months in and there were like 5 times i though it would fall. It's been a absolute circus between coalition partners, not even the opposition.

Stop the migrants who have not paid into NHS from getting free treatment until they have paid for at least one year... stop the NHS tourism...make them pay

One year seems reasonable and in line with the fact that legal migrants come in with an education paid for by their own government
