Great instructional video. Makes me think twice about how wide my stance really is. Gonna have to find out next time I'm out on the 18.
To be honest though. Was really hoping to see that girl on the thumbnail to this video lolz. Thanks again.

Aww, dang it, man...click bait! I was all set to critique her stance and let her know she needed a much wider stance and a bit more forward-lean! Oh well...😧

Hmmm, Jack Nicklaus, Ben Hogan and possibly the greatest ball striker ever Moe Norman would disagree with you

this seems logical but then why dont you see any guys on tour with a stance width this narrow?

seeds1 my guess would be because pros (especially the younger, super fit ones) are hyper-flexible and sequence perfectly. So a wide stance doesn’t affect turning and doesn’t affect weight transfer. So because of this they can stand wide with a super resistant base that creates tons of torque and power. Of course this is why they are pros and hit wedges 150 and drivers 330. Just a guess.

It's because it's not true, at least not for fit people. Swing slowly in the mirror with a wide stance. You'll see maintaining the head and sternum over the ball is very achievable, while shifting your weight back and forward in the swing. The only thing that very difficult to do with a wide stance is rotate properly.

And half the golf coaches say just the opposite. Why can't you guys all get together?

And one of amateur golfers biggest faults is transferring too much weight onto the right side in the backswing. Call it a sway if you like, but the result is often poor transfer onto the left side in the downswing, a major contributor to an open club face at impact leading to a slice. So how to avoid this movement? ... widen your stance! You can still pivot around your core, but you try shifting too much weight onto your right side - ya can't do it. Just remember who the majority of viewers you're providing instruction to on here.

Widen your stance and you’re guaranteed to hang back on your right side
