Same with the Star Wars prequels. I loved watching Mr. Plinket rip the prequels to pieces more than the movie. A good movie doesnt get as good a criticism because it would have a lot less complaints when things are done correctly.
Steve Trevor was a spy that knew how to fly a plane in the first Wonder Woman movie. I guess after he died he forgot about the spy part and decided he was a pilot.
I mean the first WW movie was good, and we know Patty is good, I think she simply didn't want to make this movie so she half assed it. But I get where you're coming from.
1:06:48 This was the perfect opportunity to point out a massive plot hole--the visit with the President. To paraphrase, Max Lord asks one of his employees if he would like Max to have a meeting with the president today, the guy says yes, but then Max realizes he's already asked him for a wish earlier that day, meaning he already used his wish. Next scene is Max talking to the President anyway. Huh?
he looks away and gestures and tries to get someone elses attention off screen to try and grant the wish again, he has an office full of people and I doubt it was hard to find someone else.
That last Christmas scene is even a different aspect ratio. As soon as it switched from Max with his kid to the Christmas scene, I was like, "Whoah. WTF just happened? Something is very wrong." And then I realized that the black bars for the widescreen format were gone. I rewound, and sure enough, it's just a hard cut from 21:9 to 16:9. So, if they shot that later, I'm guessing they were so lazy they didn't even get the same camera equipment to do it.
Also, the guy who has the information about the Monkey's Paw is an Indian actor, who's playing a guy under the pseudonym 'Babajide' but who's real name is apparently Henry Patel and has Mayan ancestry.
Not hating on Gal, but when the DCEU was starting, I was rooting for Scott Pilgrim's Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) to be WW. Also not sure if that casting would fetch a better storyline, though.
1:13:28 Max Lord comes back to DC in a white top, the president's helicopter, which presumably he would've lost access to after renouncing his wish, right?

Yeah, this frustrates me quite a bit. She's Israeli, her name is Hebrew. The silent t is something English speakers infer about her name because of Norman (French) influence. On the flip side, to James commenting about her saving Arab children, Hebrew is pretty closely related to Arabic. Also Israel has had relatively positive relations with Egypt since the Camp David Accords in the late 70's.
the thing about the invisible jet is wonder woman originally didnt fly so she had the jet, they mostly stopped using the jet because it was later decided she could fly. so riley is kinda right

In the Lord of the Rings Gandalf needs Frodo to bring the ring to Rivendell Frodo doesn’t volunteer to bring it to Mordor until they’re in Rivendell. I’m not defending WW84, but that’s how LoTR played out
If everyone had to recede their wish does Cheetah recede has and therefore lose her 'powers'? That logic should rule her out of future movies because she basically erases her origin story.
I can get on board with the 3.5 rating. It was great to have another movie which introduced the Dream Stone and other concepts/elements from the DC Universe. It was also good to introduce cheetah, since she was always one of the biggest enemies and rivals to Wonder woman in the comics. However there are many flaws and plot holes that come to light since post Justice League and the events of the crisis on the infinite earths from the Arrow verse these parallel Universes merged at some point or diverged so I'm more curious to know about the next film. This was like let's make a film that we care about but that ultimately don't care about. Just like Star wars The last Jedi.
it bothers me they keep saying "it's been 40 years since the events of the first movie" when it should be about 65 years. The first movie took place in WW1, not WW2.
Please explain to me how the opening scene wasn't horrible? There's a crowd watching, what, 17 Olympic events occurring all at the same time? The movements were as clunky as humanly possible, the girl ducks under a thing that she'd need to have been an inch thick to successfully avoid, there were only 6 horses on the beach, like they knew only 5 women would make it, if they missed a shot, they could have sent someone else's colors up, there weren't enough colors for all of the women, just the ones on the horses, so how did they know what colors they were? Were there teams? Diana cheats, but doesn't bother to keep trying to shoot her colors, so there was no chance of her winning even if they let her throw her spear. And all of this for us to get a message, from two characters back-to-back, that was so childish that I was in shock. Yes, they want to appeal to young girls, but they do not want to appeal to them EXCLUSIVELY! This movie is based on a character that is dear to millions of existing adults. Why was the first 10 minutes only for 8-year-old and younger girls? I keep reading/hearing reviews where people applaud this first scene and I'm so fully confused. We shouldn't have so many stupid things happening in such a short period of time. The first movie had tons of awful garbage like this, but got praised; this is why we're getting more of it. If we don't point on the stupidity, they'll think we're too dumb to see it and they'll keep shoving this trash in our faces. It's okay to like something while still requesting that your intellect gets shown a modicum of respect.
When the channel started, I felt like James and Riley were close together. Now as time passes by, I feel that David and Riley have become friends, and James feels like the odd one out!🤔
59:52 it would make a sort of sense that she is resistant to electricity because isn’t she like Zeus child so I think the child of a god of lighting or something like would have resistance to that but I do agree that they never set that up in the movie
It's pretty obvious Patti Jenkins wrote most, if not all of this movie and Geoff Johns just filled her in on the superhero related powers and lore. I really liked the first WW and she did a good job directing it but she should never ever write another movie in her life. I'm actually amazed this got greenlit.
I wanted to agree with Zach, that Cap didn't experience decades and that he was frozen in ice but thinking about it, after he came out of the ice, he had lots of fights that must of been at least a couple years before the final Endgame which still had the extra 5 year gap of everyone gone before returning to be with his girl. Thats still a long time to get over someone. 2-4 years is plenty of time to move on (says me who has been single for much longer lol)
She represents the correct time period that Cap belongs in. He never got to live his life in his time. She is the hope that he goes back to at the end on his story arch. As for him having enough time to forget, he is unfrozen a little before avengers (2012). Then all the avengers movies happen and it's 11 years including the infinity war to endgame time jump. 11 years is still a lot. However, He also meets old Peggy Carter (winter soldier) in a movie and goes to Peggy's funeral (civil war.) She is in every Captain america movie. He still has a connection to her.
I had high hopes for this movie but was again let down by the DCEU. DC... please, PLEASE....take the time to make decent movie. This started out too corny for me because the running/movements felt too fake. It felt like it was trying to emulate 80's superheroes movies but it just didn't work for me and felt out of touch with the action scenes in the other DCEU movies. Then it just tried to mirror the first movie by bringing Steve Trevor into an unknown futuristic world of awe and tried to replay the dressing room scene. I understand what they were trying to do, it just didn't work. I'll skip over some of the other random stuff (i.e. screw the mission, look fireworks!) Then the ending! Are there any lasting repercussions from these events? Did Max Lord have consequences or get off scot free? It felt incomplete there.
For all the arguments it created, it could have simply not been written that way, choices were made by writers, who apparently didn't give it much of a second pass.
"Blunderwoman Nineteen Eighty Snore" 🤣 I think it's a really important point that Patty Jenkins will be free of Hack Snyder's influence for Rogue Squadron - it's hard to overstate how much of a negative impact his horrible writing, dudebro vision and lust for CGI overload have had on the DC films. This film even more than the first felt like it had his dirty pawprints all over it. I have faith in Jenkins' ability to do justice to Rogue Squadron.
Yeah WW84 was Bad, Gal Gadot was still very hot, but the 1984 timeline was really bad choice to make. The Story was really bad. Its what i expected and I found it hard to watch.
Regarding the flying, in the comics she can fly but she has suppressed powers coz of the bracelets which zues gave to her .... Turns out she is the daughter of Hades coz he imitated as zues and had an affair with queen Hippolyta and in order to cover this up zues says he is her creator and gets these bracelets made which subdues her rage and soon as she is able to remove she regains her powers but her rage and violence is her power and is able to fly....... which is why this story which is about nature vs. nuture kinda storyline could have been a thousand times better than shitty storyline and could have brought steve back as a soul as a bargaining chip .......
James was right about Batman Returns Selena Kyle also being a quirky frazzled anti-social stereotype. And the invisible jet exists, like most things, to sell toys.
I just watched the movie and it's fucking horrible. I liked the first one, very decent easy watch. This sequel is just so bland, messy and illogical. And for some reason WB wants a 3rd with the same bad director? And once again, Disney hired a bad director for Star Wars, RIP. I don't expect anything good from Jenkins.
I do agree it's subsconciously boring. I downloaded the movie then it took 3 days to finish it because it didn't caught my interest enough to continue watching.
They really went easy on this movie which is funny to me. I have a pretty high tolerance for awful movies and thought this was Batman & Robin tier horrible. Also I assume they avoided pointing it out since they're woke but whoever was in charge of the story (I assume Patti Jenkins) is so incredibly sexist towards men it's painful. Every single man on the streets is a cat calling douchebag. It felt like it was written by someone who has never interacted with an actual man in their life and all they have to go off of is really stupid stereotypes that all men are scumbags. It really made it obvious it was written by either a very sexist or misandrist woman. It didn't make me angry but it sure did make me roll my eyes.
I’m not watching this film so I don’t spoil the carpool critics review for myself.
This conversation about the movie was 5 times more interesting than the whole movie.
Yep, if there wasn't a carpool critics episode about it, I would probably have stopped watching the movie at about 1/3rd.
Same with the Star Wars prequels. I loved watching Mr. Plinket rip the prequels to pieces more than the movie. A good movie doesnt get as good a criticism because it would have a lot less complaints when things are done correctly.
When she electrocuted Cheetah my brain was confused so I just made up that her armor was insulated lol.
For me it was because she is daughter of Zeus + first movie where she Lightning Bolted Ares.
Also she rides lightning like real
I appreciate how hard David was struggling to keep it together during the synopsis.
That was so much fun
That Mario sound was on point :o
Even worse, it's a guy she loved for a month, not 40 years ago... 65 YEARS AGO, in World War 1
You can hardly even call that a summer fling
I don't know how Amazonian age, but maybe to her 65 years feels like a bleep in her lifetime.. just a perspective
No, he wants her to move on with her life science. You honestly make her sound high maintenance and fragile.

Ah...classic riley.
I think the first 45mins should have just been cut. I almost stopped watching this movie so many times..
Having watched this, i am glad i wasn't alone in thinking it was trash. I hoped for better, but was let down, once again.
