  • Friendly big Stingrays are common around Melbourne Jetties. They are very used to seeing Scuba divers. They hang around the jetties to feed on bait and any fish remains thrown into the water by line fishermen.. If they been fed by divers they will associate you as a food source and will sneak up behind or come over the top hoping you have something to eat for them. Often landing right on top of you, the unsuspecting visitor .If one is unprepared for this: it can be a heart stopping moment.
