Nice one Tommy I'm at the same stage as yourself done my cbt about 6 weeks ago been out about 6 times on my yamaha ybr 125. I'm 57 and absolutely loving it wish I'd done it years ago.👍
Great stuff, I'll get out more often now without taking the camera so I should come on leaps and bounds. Trouble with documenting it all, has to be a long ride to make it worthwhile/of value to look back on. You are doing it now, that's the main thing 👍
Hi Tommy. I'm about to " get back to biking " after a 40 yr gap. I'm enjoying your rides, highlighting all the things we have to be aware of. Well done. Keep sharing. A
Hello Tommy. Your Sixth gear comment made me chuckle, as I often say that on my CB125F lol. I have been riding mine for a couple of months now, passed my MOD 1 on the second go, and all I can say is you take corners at the speed you feel safe doing it. The more you ride the more confident you will get and one day you will look down at the speedo and think "blimey I took it at that speed ". I stay off the roads when it is obviously Icy, not yet in 2023, but its coming, and very cautious in morning fog. Enjoy your rides. Stay safe. Keep the uploads coming 🙂
Alright dave, ha yeah i reckon there is a market for a 6th gear conversion kit! Nice work getting your mod 1 out of the way. Here's to faster cornering soon 🤣
Tommy you are a natural RUclipsr of the likes of Noraly aka itchy boots. You are so easy and enjoyable to listen to and you could become very successful at this. I sincerely hope you do.
That’s a nasty positioned drain at 2:50 🫨 ye man long sweeping bends are my danger area, I’m good until I’m half way around and I get target fixation or roll off the throttle…….ye I know 😬 please get some proper trousers with knee and hip protection 🙏🏼 brother the amount of times I’ve looked for that 6th gear 🤣😂 loving the little blip of the throttle (not like that) just like that 😁…as for that bend, you got around with no drama and that’s a win, target fixation …..head up looking at the exit not the kerb
Yeah that drain sucks! I actually have some armoured trousers, I'll have to bring them into service. I'll have to see if there is a 6th gear conversion available 😜
At 8:08 it's a tight corner, remember to position yourself in the left of your lane at the start of the bend so you can both see what's coming around the corner sooner and react in case someone comes over that line, and you want to aim to finish in the middle of your lane coming out so you're buffering against oncoming traffic. Best to make a habit out of proper lane positioning while you're still fresh on the streets. Ride safe man, your videos are great so far
Hi Tommy love the channel. Personally I wouldn’t indicate around parked cars. Generally it is unnecessary to signal when passing parked cars. Excessive signalling in this situation can potentially be confusing to other drivers as they may think you are making a right turn. There are however situations where a signal may be of benefit to other vehicles. Keep up the great progress. Simon
You’re doing very well. Getting more experience. Make sure you maintain your lovely bike. Washing the saltwater off it. Treat it with some anti corrosion oils
Thanks. I am going to give it a service, good clean and bang some anti-corrosion stuff I have on it when work dies down a bit. They don't grit the roads a lot over here as the island has a milder micro-climate than the mainland. They have gritted twice though so far this year so good to keep it off the bike as best I can 👍
Hi Tommy, great to see views of the island brings back fond memories of delivering there a few years back in the lorry. Nice to see the riding is improving and confidence is growing. Keep it up mate :)
Getting on well Tommy, and you have a good safe attitude. As a personal observation...... I have found the 2 things that make a difference safety wise for me are a bright helmet - its the first thing seen in traffic as it's the highest point, and adding day riding lights or spots. 3 lights seems to be seen far better than a single headlamp. I'd recommend watching a video by Fort Nine which explains why motorcyclists are invisible
Thank you. It is funny you should say that. My business is mainly based around reflectives so my helmet will be getting a brighter look when time allows. I have seen that video actually, I've been looking at kits from Bikevis. A worthy upgrade I reckon 👌
You can tell you're more relaxed when riding, my hands get frozen riding, even though I've got winter gloves, so I've just bought some heated gloves, hopefully they will keep my hands warm,I haven't had chance to try them out, it's been rain and high winds here, can't wait until the summer lol.
Hey John, yeah frozen hands are not much fun. This weather really sucks, I bought a drone 2 weeks ago to get some nice tracking shots but the wind and rain just will not go away! Summer cannot come quick enough 👍
Man, you’re doing just fine! I passed my test last May, and have ridden in everything but hard ice. Every day is a learning day! Keep enjoyin the spins!
@@TwoWheelsTommy not the fun experience I’d imagine either!! It’s bad enough after heavy rain! Better to miss the bike than be missed for somethin stupid.
Nice one, I just did a run to St Andrews from Stirling in the bucketing rain (Wish I'd had the GoPro out 😢) and honestly the wet isnt as bad as people make it out to be, you gotta keep your wits about you but going around corners unless you hit a manhole cover or something slippy you should be fine, just watch accelerating out of corners, thats what can cause the slides. No such thing as taking a corner too slow, take it at the speed you feel comfortable with, if it feels to slow, try it a bit faster next time haha.
Hi Tommy really enjoying you content and journey! I’ve been riding for 7 years and believe me you are doing great! Only you will know if you slowed down enough or took the corner too tight. We all have near misses and small situations, and you learn to roll with them!
You're doing well mate. Take the corners at the speed you're comfortable with and you'll naturally get faster with practice but try not to roll off the throttle and coast round corners but keep on throttle and use a little rear brake instead.
Thank you, I wasn't aware I was doing that but it would make sense if confidence is not maxed out yet. I'll have to watch back and have a look! Using the rear brake is a good tip, thanks 👍
@TwoWheelsTommy Don't think you were doing it too much mate but it's only natural when you're a beginner. I was taught lower gear, more revs and rear brake if necessary. Bike feels much more planted to road and engine isn't labouring too much.
CBT not completed I needed a little more time practiceing U turnes that was my weakness and I was looking down a little too much and they needed to get the other lads on element D before it got dark so I'll have to go back to re do it all probably back end of February time when I've got the money for it again
Might be for the best anyway fella, at least in Feb you have a chance of the weather starting to improve. I reckon the biggest thing keeping new riders off their bikes is the rubbish weather. Good luck with your U-turns 👍
nice ride and weldone keep the good work up, corners try to tighten them up a little so you dont drift to far over its where all the shit collects in gutters ect. ,clutch if your slow speed try and slip the clutch when needed so the bike wont jerk forward and if your at a long stoop find N and chill out other then them very small things i would say it was a great ride keep it up are you going for your big bike at some point ???
Kudos on hitting the hills around Ventnor on a 125, not sure my benelli bn125 would haul my fat arse up them but definitely worth it. And I agree, the Shanklin to Ventnor route is definitely one of the nicest viewpoints on the island, especially the clearings looking out over luccombe. Half tempted to bring my bike on the next holiday..
Haha yes I had to wring it's neck a bit but it got the job done! It is a lovely stretch of road that bit around Luccombe, I'll catch it another time. Deffo bring your bike over 👍
Lolz. No riding today, I keep my bike at work. Aside from that, the weather is pony again today. Think rain and upto 40mph winds 😮 Hope you manage to get out!
Your getting plenty of long rides in now , look completely comfortable. Will you be progressing to your mod1/2 soon? I passed my mod2 a couple of weeks ago🎉
Yes I am getting a decent ride in every couple of weeks. I'll have a lot more time after xmas. I will be going for my full licence next year. Nice work finishing your mod 2, thanks for watching 😀
You have come on leaps and bounds since your first solo ride. A very entertaining series, RUclips needs more stuff like this 👌
