+Coyote you know, there're plenty of good looking boys who make music out there. If BTS were just pretty faces I assure you that they wouldn't be where they are now.
Ofc, there're probably lots and lots of fans who follow them just because they're handsome and have nice personalities (which isn't something wrong), but I can promise you that there're many more who stay with them because of deeper reasons, because they believe in the values that they want to transmit through their music, because they talk about important issues and feeling humans experience as individuals and express social criticism. Because they have a lovely relationship between each other and appreciate their members and ARMYs a lot (they're always showering us with so much love and gratefulness), because all seven of them are truly good people with good intentions who came from a poor background and are still humble no matter how much they've achieved.
Do not just just assume because of what you superficially see, take a deep look.
They are one of the reasons my day by day is a tad happier, they can really give you so much but I think that you need to be receptive to realize it.

It kinda bothers me how they're not taken so seriously due to the previous boy bands or groups famous in the United States. I hope that as their popularity grows, people will start to see more clearly how different they are and recognize the good impact that they have to young people or their fans in general.

Well I feel he's low-key making fun of them. Especially if you look at the chemistry between other talk show hosts like Jimmy Fallon or James cordon with BTS. Like they know how to make the audience laugh or have fun without being disrespectful .hahah my pov
A lot of people have mistaken his self-deprecating, sarcastic humor as disrespect. In reality, he is the most genuine of the 3 hosts you mentioned. Perhaps some of his comedy doesn't translate as well in other cultures, as many of the bothered commenters seem to be non-Americans. Kimmel is actually very good at fun interviews, so it's actually too bad the guys weren't able to have an actual chat with him.
Despite the iconic clips from the Corden show (mostly due the BTS themselves), James is famously disliked and a phony off-camera. And Fallon just recently on his show mispronounced Jungkook's name (yet again). Not to mention, he showed that old photo of the members to tease them/make them cringe at their younger style. That said, the segments are funny, because let's face it: BTS are natural comedians.

HERE is WHY BTS IS POPULAR !!!
BTS are a prime example of an “Underdog”. Their company was very little and in debt when they debuted, which led BTS to be overshadowed by other groups from bigger and more popular companies. They were often edited out of broadcasts etc.
Before their debut one of the members, Suga, couldn’t eat dinner bc then he wouldn’t have money for the bus, the songs he sold to other artists were often not payed for like they initially agreed to and he struggled with mental illnesses.
Member Kim Seokjin had to borrow his mother’s kitchen utensils, pots and pans bc they couldn’t afford it, in order to cook for the other members.
The K-pop industry has a reputation of artists not writing/producing their own music - they’re just being given a song to sing. BTS has always wrote and produced their own songs and instead of always making cliché and cheesy love songs, party songs etc. They have always wanted to be the spokesperson for youth. They talk about political issues, mental health, social pressure and such.
They’ve done a lot of charity since their debut and recently they collaborated and set up a campaign with UNICEF named #LoveMyself (#EndViolence). Their recent EP “Love Yourself: Her” donates % of the money earned from sales and merch to the campaign.
Another thing is that they always put their fans first. They make sure to always be in contact with us via Twitter, Weibo, Instagram and V app (Korean Livestream app).
They even skipped the AMAs after party just to hold a livestream where they thank fans. They have multiple songs dedicated to us as well.
They only started gaining recognition in 2015 (2 years after their debut) and since then they have grown so much.
And even though they’ve accomplished so much these past years (BBMAs, AMAs, Daesangs (A prestigious Korean Award), etc) they remain humble.
There’s so much more. They’re really incredible young men.

James corden’s show is bigger than jimmy kimmels, he also has a family and still learned all of their names, tried the correct pronunciations and learns all their English lyrics for carpool karaoke. I'm from Europe and I became a K-pop fan a month later in december that year. When I watched this interview I knew nothing at all about BTS and I never heard of EXO or Big Bang. Now K-pop is basically the only thing I listen to. I ALMOST don't even know what is popular outside of the K-pop industry anymore. 😂 It is crazy how HUGE K-pop has become in America after BTS went there.
