How to remove the rear seatback on a 2013 Ford F150 Supercab - Best Video

  • Why is it the best video? I go into detail on what you need to do and show you. Other videos are helpful, but it's more than just jamming a screwdriver in there and jiggling it around. Knowing how it goes together helps you understand how it comes apart.

Best video for dealing with the rear seatback! My son and I spent days fishing with a wire hanger for an imaginary button b/c of other F150 videos he found. This was the answer for his 2013 F150 STX Supercab. Thx!!

Thank you for this video!!! You most definitely have the best video. After seeing the back of the seat where the clip fits into the frame, I fully understood how the process worked. I had watched several videos but they did not do a good job of explaining the process. After watching your video, I had the seat back out in less than five minutes. Thanks again!!!

Great video sir and an honest show at that. I’ve been doing mechanic work for 30 years now and will admit that sometimes a little you tube helps lol. Showing the inner workings of the latch made for perfect instructions. 👍🏻

So nice to finally see how this is done. Frustrating that Ford couldn't standardize its seat installation for all model years and not make things so complicated. I plan on removing the clip for easier removal in the future.

I watched your video. Thanks for showing me what I was trying to do. Turns out I could weasel my hand around the lower corner. I reached back to feel the screwdriver and found I could just pull the tab back with my hand. I have large hands and small wrists so this trick may not work for everyone. But I can pull my seat out in the time it takes me to walk around the truck…so thanks for that!

  • @stevenborek5049

Thanks for the video. I didn't have a pocket in the foam to follow so I had a lot of resistance to raising above the bar. I had a 5/16 x 24 inch round stock that gave me the leverage to pull up to the tab. I got lucky and hit the hole when I pulled up. The seat popped right out. I never would have found that without your video. Thanks again.

Just removed the back bench seat from my 2013 Ford F-150 FX4 Supercab. I followed your instructions perfectly, but I have one thing to add to your video that I think would make it even better and it saves some time and also you can use both hands in front instead of one hand on a long regular screwdriver with one hand attempting to reach behind/under seat.Send me a message and maybe we can collaborate on another new video. Thanks for the help Doug. Have a blessed day.

Doug, I'm Diane's husband, James. Thanks so much for the info. Last winter window was froze up and I didn't realize it and attempted to open rear window and something went wrong. Remote operation stopped working and I had to let window unthaw and then was able to manual push closed. Been putting off looking into and now started and see that the rear upper seat back has to be removed to even look into problem. How in the world do you remove rear seat upper section. Now I know. Thank You!!!!!!!!

I'd have to agree, your video is much better than any of the others I watched, because you 1) have a full view video, not a skinny cell phone shot that you can't see jack in, and 2) you do a detailed 'how to' step by step and explain well what is going on and what you are attempting to do. After watching your video, I removed the back seat from my 2013 F-150 XLT, first try. Thanks.

3-8-2021.....I need to install an upright child seat front facing. Initially I needed to know how to remove the headrest of an 2014 Ford F-150 Supercab. Always thought the rear seat folded forward but had no clue. I saw one other video, where a guy just used his hand instead of screwdriver. 👍🏻

I have a 2011 F150 Supercab and I'll tell you what...I absolutely am a Ford guy, will never buy anything else, but...2 things that have annoyed me the most about doing an aftermarket head unit and an amp, 1.) The fact that they do not provide a 12v ACC wire off the factory radio harness like they have for 30+ years and 2.) The difficulty of getting that back seat out. I'm baffled by those 2 things. Last, thank you so much for this.

Best video!! I've been having an annoying squeak (I now /know/ it's middle passenger seatbelt) for so long, driving me crazy.. Been wanting to get in there to figure out where it's coming from (I thought the back of the seat!! or like on my old 2000 one of the bolts holding down the seat belt ends) and the other videos never really explained it as well as you do. There really is a trick to it to get that screwdriver in, maybe just luck, but eventually I got it! I might 'route' out a bit of the foam to make a clearer path under and on the seat back, no one ever looks under there anyways. :P Thanks!

Actually, I think it’s easier without a screwdriver. As long as you push down on the back rest while you push the plastic clip back with your hand, it’s very easy.
Now the question is, how to adapt an easy latch system to swing the backrest down for easy access.
