The key seems to see the unlastingness of the sense of I AM.
That is to say, see the moment by moment passing away of it.
It is not a solid object.
"Recognize the impermanence of the I am.
It appears and disappears, but it is not your essence.
Understand that you are the one beyond, the one who remains untouched by its coming and going.
The moment the I is proven unreal, who is it who knows that the I is unreal?
This knowledge within you that knows the I is unreal, that knowledge which knows change must itself be changeless, permanent."

Wow! While practising according to the steps, towards the end, I actually felt my being as something distinct from my body for a few moments. As if the body consciousness had vanished. This was my first time experiencing something like this. Thank you for this. Very grateful. 🙏

The most profound and clear way of "knowing" I ever experienced, it resonated deeply at the heart center.
The I Am being also a concept, that Consciousness is also a phenomena. Yes, I feel it.

Simply refuse the ego's desires and expectations and you are left with the witness watching the ego go into fits until it eventually dissolves. This is taught by ACIM also, same basics and same end result. It can be obtained also using Zazen, simply stare at a blank wall, day and night, do nothing else but eat and sleep and stare at the wall, your ego will get bored, then get nutty, then dissolve, all you need do is no-thing. All known paths are ways to use the ego to remove the ego, they all just deny the ego's desires, all desires, all the time. The Zen statement below shows the basics, minimize life to core needs for survival, nothing more is allowed as it will be an ego desire. "Before enlightenment, cut wood, carry water. After enlightenment, cut wood, carry water." All enlightenment paths have one common goal, dissolve the ego.

    • @ruxandracojocaru114
      @ruxandracojocaru114 2 месяца назад +3

Is not exactly dissolving anything . The ego doesn't really exist . Is about witnessing the body , world and ego too with no identification . I am not separate but just witnessing an experience of separation . Witnessing drinking water or separation is the same ....
ACIM ... there is not a gerarchie of the illusions... all are the same ... no value at all .

Does not reducing life to its core needs, basically just surviving take away from the rich experience of existence which is available to all of us? Or do you mean as in a temporary state until self realisation is realised?

    TRANSCRIPT:
    Step one:
    Start from the I am.
Maharaj’s guidance: Start by focusing deeply on the sense of I am.
Let this awareness be your anchor without associating it with any identity.
Remain centered in the experience of pure being.
Meditate on the I am without words, without attaching any identity.
Simply be aware of this sense of being.
Dwell on the sense of I am deeply and without distraction.
Simply rest in the awareness of being without striving for any outcome.
Hold on to the sense I am and do not let your attention be diverted.
Only the I am is certain.
The I am is your only capital.
The sense of I am is the root of all, yet it is not you.
It is a tool for knowing.
Once its purpose is served, it too must be let go.

      Step two:
Understand the transience of I am
Maharaj’s guidance: Recognize the impermanence of the I am.
It appears and disappears, but it is not your essence.
Understand that you are the one beyond, the one who remains untouched by its coming and going.
The moment the I is proven unreal, who is it who knows that the I is unreal?

      TRANSCRIPT:
      Step three:
Disidentify from the body and the mind.
Maharaj’s guidance: Observe the body, breath, and mind as objects of perception.
Know that you are not these objects, but the witness.
Stabilize in this witnessing and allow detachment from the body and mind to occur naturally.
You can watch the body, so you are not the body.
You can watch the breath, so you are not the vital breath.
In the same way, you are not the Consciousness, but you have to become one with the Consciousness.
As you stabilize in the Consciousness, dispassion for the body and for the expressions through the body occur spontaneously.
The body and the mind are only instruments.
You are not what is perceived, but that which perceives.
Know yourself as the witness of the body and mind.
Whatever happens, happens to the body and to the mind.
      Let it happen.
Just remain aware of it without identifying.

      TRANSCRIPT:
      Step four:
      Observe Consciousness as a phenomenon.
Maharaj’s guidance: Once you have stabilized in the Consciousness, take the next step to observe it as a phenomenon.
Do not get entangled in the content of Consciousness.
Recognize that you are beyond it as the absolute witness.
Having stabilized in the Consciousness, the next step is to be in a position to observe the Consciousness and all the play that is happening in the Consciousness.
Just understand Consciousness itself is a phenomenon.
Be aware of it without being caught up in it.
You are beyond even Consciousness as the absolute Witness
To know what you are, you must first know what you are not.
Observe how Consciousness behaves and see that you are not the content of Consciousness.

      TRANSCRIPT:
      Step five: Transcend all concepts.
Maharaj’s guidance: Transcend all concepts, including the I am.
These are merely tools, and ultimately they are limitations.
Let go of all identifications and remain in your natural unlimited state.
Understand that this too is also to be discarded.
The principle which can pass judgment on whether the world is or is not, that principle antedates the world.
All concepts, even the concept of I am, are limitations.
Transcend all such limitations and remain in your natural state.
You must abandon all that you think you are and all that you think the world is to know what truly is.
The real is beyond concepts and names.

      :TRANSCRIPT:
      Step six:
      Rest in the absolute.
Maharaj’s guidance: Rest in the absolute, where there is nothing to gain or lose.
It is the state beyond all needs, desires, and identifications.
      Simply be without any striving.
When the knowingness goes, the absolute will not know I am.
Appearance and disappearance, birth and death-these are the qualities of beingness.
      They are not your qualities.
The absolute is beyond all experiences and beyond Consciousness itself.
It is the state where nothing is and nothing is needed.
Remain in that state in which there is no need for anything.
The state where there are no needs, no desires, and no identification-that is the absolute.
When you realize that you are not the person, but the witness only, and that pure awareness is your true nature, then you will be free.
You will know yourself not as an object in Consciousness, but as the changeless, unchanging background upon which Consciousness appears and disappears.
      Stay with the I am.

It is not the Consciousness but the mind is phenomena. Consciousness is fundamental. And it "appears" or "desappears" only when it is reflected by the mind. In deep sleep the Consciousness "desappears" and it seems to us that it comes back when we wake up. In fact it is our mind either reflects the Consciousness or does not depending on its three states: waking, dreaming or deeply sleeping.

Observe how consciousness behaves. You are not the content of the consciousness. What does it mean. Observe the observer?

    • @soulspiritself
      @soulspiritself  3 месяца назад +11

Yes, good point, there are a lot of different ways this is communicated.
To clarify for anyone else reading...
Watching how consciousness behaves is just observing the play of the mind. Thoughts, feelings, and sensations come and go, but you are not them.
When you ‘observe the observer,’ you’re turning your attention back to the source of all this. You’re asking, ‘Who is it that is aware of these thoughts?’ By doing so, the mind quiets down, and you recognize that the real You is the silent, formless Presence beyond thoughts, feelings, and sensations.
This Observer-our true nature-is not an object to be seen, but the very awareness through which all seeing and sensing happens.
There are many different ways this is expressed in spiritual teachings. You might hear:
      “Who is the one watching?”
“Turn attention back to the source of seeing.”
“Find the one who is aware of being aware.”
      “Watch the watcher.”
“Trace the witness back to its origin.”
“Who am I that is aware of this?”
      “Look at the looker.”
All of these point to the same insight: realising that the observer of experience is not separate from the awareness that is the experience.
      Thanks for commenting! 🙏

Is Absolute as Witness conscious of witnessing?

    • @soulspiritself
      @soulspiritself  2 месяца назад +2

'Absolute as Witness' is putting an overlay on the Absolute isn't it?
The witnessing is still a function of the mind. In 'I Am That' Nisargadatta emphasises that the final step is to dissolve that witness.🙏🏻
