- Hello and thank you for watching my video today. I was desperate to get out on the rivers chasing barbel again, but I had to wait for a few weeks before I could finally get out.
This video follows me fishing both familiar and new venues. Luckily, I catch on both and have a really good time doing it!
Hopefully I should be able to get out again in the next couple weeks and have a proper barbel session so stay tuned for that. Good luck out there everyone.

Nice 1 or should I say 2👏👏
Always good to watch, I hope you & your lady had a great night!!😎🎣🐟
Looks like a lovely enclosed swim to escape from the world
Great when you find a nice spot away from the path. Thanks for watching
Hi Dan, I’ve been waiting for your first barbel video of the new season. Many congratulations on your first barbel from a fourth Yorkshire river. It’s been a fairly slow start to the season for me with a week down the Wye plus a three day trip up on the Trent. Had a few barbel but not as many as I hoped. Best wishes and good luck for the rest of the river season.
I knew you'd be back Harry great to have you watching.
Ah usual story for us anglers it's just never enough. Glad you caught though. Might try to tick off a 5th river before the winter
Well first time on that river, its a good spot! Them boats were going at a fair old lick......well done on your first barbel of the season. i had my first barbel a couple of week ago on the nidd,i recon you will love the hammerton mill strech......anyway good to have you back .
Spooky, I've just watched your video on the korum unhooking mat, looks ideal as I want something for roving. I'm after a cradle type for piking as my beany one is no good on sloping banks.
The korum do a larger one, im going back today to get the larger one for pike, but they are great compact and light
Thanks Ian. Yes I watched your video and what a fish you had! Also admired your honesty on how your motivation for fishing comes and goes. I too have times where I can't get motivated or recognise that other things in life are more important.
Good to see your back....
Thanks Jess, getting harder to find time to fish but still love it when I can.
Lovely video Dan!
Thanks guys glad you enjoyed it
The Church bells gave you away there Dan, well done.
You know Keith nice little stretch right. Thanks for watching
Awesome fishing mate love that stretch and one stretch’s further down
Very nice mate down there isn't it. Thanks for watching
Another good Sunday morning video Dan well done on the new river barbel 👍🏻🦈
Thanks Paul so good to get off the mark. Cheers for watching
Nice fishing 🎣👍
Thanks mate nice to catch
Good ( Sunday ) morning Dan … hope you and the family are ok …. 2 nice sessions and well done. …. That second session where you had that barbel looked a nice spot … until the boats came roaring along and caused a tsunami !!! …….
Lovely fish my friend and great to see ya back 👍👍👍…also perfect timing 🔔 ⛪️ 😁😁…
Had my first session barbel fishing since last September on the Swale …. Managed a few small chub & Dace and 2 barbel ( biggest 9lb 1oz ) so was well chuffed …
Loving the videos as always and it’s always hard, juggling family, life and work !! Hope you guys enjoyed your Nando’s. … look forward to the next video buddy and all the best to you and yours 👍😁🎣
Them boats were ridiculous you'd think we were at the beach! But yes lovely spots and great to catch.
The Swale hasn't been good to me for years now, nothing but blanks so well done on your catch.
Nandos was great but no whole chickens so I couldn't have my usual half a hot chicken. Scandalous!
I went from using a feeder to a bare lead and pva mesh balls of pellets down my rig just has u do along with cheesy garlic oil and it completely changed my season last year...it works and it worked well 👍
Nice one Gavin mate it's a great method and it really works everywhere from the Trent to the tiny Yorkshire rivers.
Thanks for watching mate
One more cast 🎣 how many anglers have said that!
Good to see you back out Dan, & all's well with the family. Smashing barbel, love the sound of the church bells in the distance.
Time is a rare commodity these days, I've just had a week off & it's flown by, had a few hours on my local river & caught a bass as they come up from the harbour.
While the rest of Europe roast, we've almost gone back to winter, wind & rain this weekend down south 🌨
😂 I've learnt mate always make a quick call home before I wind in, sometimes she'll let have another hour or 2. Stay another hour without a call and it's hell to pay! 😂
Never had a uk sea bass so glad you got one mate that's awesome.
I hate the heat so this is nice for me, better then 47 degrees!
That's a lovely stretch mate, all club waters I guess
Yeah man 2 different clubs. Nice to get out and explore
Due to weather and work not been on the bank this year mate ….after watching your video I’m preparing the rods !!! Well in !
Nice one Keith you get after them my man!
Speed limit on most navigable waters that are not tidal in the UK is 6 knots, which is just a fast walking pace. Those boats should have been licensed and will have a waterways number on display.
Great to have you back Dan!! How’s the little man?
Thank you James good to be back. He's great almost walking and talking. Such a laugh!
Hi Dan, great video. What's your opinion on length of hook link? I notice yours are comparatively short when viewing other Barbel fishing videos - I prefer your set up, but do you think a long hook link has any advantages ? ( long hook link for me = 5ft )
i catch just as many on a shorter 2ft or ready ties 15inch hooklink as longer ones. also shorter means easier to cast
Hi mate thanks for watching. Around 18 inches to 2 foot is about right for me. Never seen the point in anything too long, even when feeder fishing with maggots I only go to 3 foot. Long hooklinks are a pain to cast too.
hi dan nice chub and a barbel...tight lines..as always....
Nice one mate couple of nice fish and no blanks. Thanks for watching
What rods do you use dan thanks
Hi Philip they're a pair of old korum carp rods. 2.5lb test curve but quite a soft action so really nice for barbel.
Looks like Nidd then Ouse to me?
Maybe...... thanks for watching Darren mate
I was thinking nidd?
He"s a tool.... not saying what river. As if we all can't head there 😂
Mega stuff nice session mate hope you enjoyed the cheekie Nando’s 😁🎣👍🏻
Wouldn't believe it mate no whole chickens left so I couldn't have my usual half a hot chicken! Had to go with 4 boneless thighs
Nice video Dan. What rods you use?
Thanks mate. They're old korum carp rods, 2.5lb test curve. The purists hate them but no point in buying barbel rods while I have these 2 beauties!
@dangoesoutdoors897 totally understand. They'll do the job just the same.
Hey ! Think u need to rethink your strategy, u keep harping on on morning compared to evening sessions, I’ve seen plenty of your videos & take the blinkers off & go with a more natural bait in the morning pellets & PVA bags in my opinion work only in certain conditions more effectively than natural baits ! I don’t think I’ve ever seen u mixing ground bait! No wonder u blank so much.
: )
you never answered the big question!!! who was ringing you ?
😂 can't remember mate probably someone at work moaning!
Thanks for watching
is there any need for that awful music
Sorry Alan the band follows me everywhere I go! 😄 thanks for watching mate
"the band follows me everywhere I go" I just snorted out me nose 😂 😂 😂
