I was about on-odds when all things were said and done with over 30 packs opened. However, I was REALLY nervous starting out, because it took well over 25 packs to get even one Lapras...
I got 10 Clefairy, 6 pika, 4 Butterfree, 3 Lapras and 2 Mankey I was so afraid I wouldn't get the Mankey before the event was over.got the second one yesterday
The info wasn't available at the start. Datamining takes time and miners have to read the code and make sense of it. Also it doesn't change how we play the game. You'd still want to max out as much rewards as you can during the event.
I am nowhere close to those odds 1:50 , I am wholely convinced there is some hidden nudge that uses something like your account ID as a seed, and certain cards' rarity differs based on that, because I have yet to get the Genetic Apex card of the 1♦ Pikachu, and I swear it is rarer than a 2*, of which I have only gotten from a God(/Rare) pack. Edit: my reasoning behind this, is if it was truly an equillibrium, you'd not be wanting to trade at all, because you could statistics tool your way to the deck/collection you want on your own. I imagine the resource sink of trading is going to be the cash cow of this game long term.
@@mvinr5910 yeah I almost hit a 20 duplicate before I moved off the pikachu pack since I can just wonderpick a jolteon, and the laprasEX promo pika is good enough for now.
i opened 34 boosters for the moment, i got 17 pikachu, 10 clefairy, 5 mankey and 2 butterfree according to the percentage to get lapras, the probability to not get any lapras in 34 booster is (1- 0.1266)^34= 1% with no hourglasses left i only have a few tries left before the event end
At 1%, every 1 million downloads worldwide, there are 10k people who won't get lapras in 34 packs. So it's probably more common than we'd like to believe. Good luck.
I pulled 2 LaprasEX's before I pulled a single Mankey. I got a crap ton of Pikachus and Cleffairys, tho. It's always fun to be the outlier that gets a rare thing before a common thing, lol.
Not that I care particularly much as I've already gotten all the promos I need, but aren't they required by European law (or something) to disclose rates even of these packs? These promos can be earned by spending gold too. I'm surprised it's not shown somewhere in the app... but I really don't know.
Good question as you could indirectly spend gold but I'm not a legal expert. It's a mechanic that has multiple steps before it's linked to spending so that may have something to do with it. Some people believe hundo hunting in pogo isn't gacha but it's linked to a payment form via multiple steps (raid passes, incubators). Should those show a rate too?
@@Bropenings My intuition was that even if there's an extra step, if paying money can get you where the end result is an RNG gacha type mechanic, rates should be disclosed. I don't play pogo but my intuition would have been that they'd be required to disclose rates there too. ...So I did a quick google search, nothing super thorough or anything. But I found that there are Chinese laws that restrict gacha type mechanics in games. They require "loot box" rates to be disclosed. They also don't allow dailies which at least my US copy of the app has in the form of daily missions. And they require that rewards that can come from "loot boxes" must be directly buyable with some currency. That might be why we have the pack points system (whether that's the case or not I really appreciate it because it's helped me get some crucial cards). We can't buy promos with pack points. I'm not sure where I heard about these laws, but it seems likely the Chinese version of the app is different.
Out of the 25 packs that I've opened, I've gotten 7 butterfrees and 1 lapras. This means that I have gotten almost double the amount of butterfrees than would expected and about a third the amount of laprases
I couldn’t get a Laura’s until the last day, that is when I made a mini account and got 2 on that, but then returned to main account and got 1, happy now
@curiokryptic oh hai K! XD Yeah I've opened up 42 packs and 10 have been Lapras 😆 hoping I'll get some fun trades for them in the future as I really wanna complete the Pokédex collection
It’s ridiculous that for the event that’s limited time, they let it be rng based to get Lapras EX. This is coming from someone who got 6 Lapras EX. I’m wanting one more for two of the hardest flair, so I’m still doing the event as much as possible. They should have made it where you earned currency dependent on difficulty, and made it so even if you didn’t have a good electric deck or something, you could earn enough points on lower difficulties to buy a Lapras EX or two at least. Or alternatively, let people who do the event earn at least one guaranteed, then do the event to farm more if they want it. Not everyone is gonna spend money to buy packs, get premium, or get lucky enough to have a Pikachu EX deck or something similar that makes the event easy enough to farm on the hardest difficulty. I hate that some people, even with the best decks and tons of participation, will be without Lapras EX only cause the game gave them the middle finger. I really do think this is my biggest complaint about the event. As much as I joked just the other day about how my friend sitting across the table from me was doing the event daily and still hadn’t got a single one, while I showed off my Lapras EX with flair on my display board, I really do think this was a big flop in design. I have other complaints about the game in general. But this is just mine about the event in particular.
In the countries where the offering rates are required by law, how is this legal? I assumed the rates were 1 in 5 because they're not listed. It's not like they don't have to list them because the pulls are free. You can spend money to get extra pulls by buying extra event energy when you run out.
I'm not legally trained so I cannot answer you. If anyone has an actual law degree you're welcome to chime in. I do wonder if it is some mixture of many degrees of separation from the event stamina being purchased (note: promo pack itself has a drop rate also not listed in-game) or if it isn't classified as gacha unless there's actually a significantly severely low rate items. 12-13% pull rate in a pool of 5 different items where free pulls are overwhelmingly abundant is nowhere close to the pull rates of actual things we commonly associate with gacha that are like 1% or 0.05% etc where the free pulls are severely lacking.
I must’ve been incredibly lucky because I got twice as many Lapras as any other card. 8 Lapras in 21 packs. The rarest card for me was Pikachu with only 2 out of 21 packs.
They should add a guaranteed promo card you can get from completing all the event missions - so complete all Lapras Ex event missions and get one guaranteed Lapras Ex card. Then boosters are icing.
@@BropeningsThose are nice extras but they won't help anyone who has poor luck in pulling a Lapras EX. I think everyone who participates in the event fully should be guaranteed at least one of the signature card from the event. I opened 27 packs and there was no Lapras, so I figure 0.88 to the power 27 is 0.0317, which is 3.17%, so I fell into this 3% unlucky spot. The 28th card was the Lapras, after I passed all the missions for Level 1 to Level 4 of the event. The other account I had, the first card was a Lapras.
I've pulled 1 lapras since event started and i'm doing every day with all opportunities without spending. It's been terrible for me way out of those odds for sure.

Crazy how some people just couldn’t pull a Lapras. I managed to pull 5. I lost count of how many packs I opened though.
🥺😢😭
I opened 7 Lapras but only 1 butterfree 😐

It took me while to get the 2nd lapras after I got 2 of each card I got 3 lapras in a row

I Pull 36 and still tring to get my 2 lapras
There was a LAPRAS card? Dang, now I have to keep playing. I got a lot of Butterfree x.x
Bro the event is literally named "lapras ex event"...
Ive got 4 Lapras, 9 Butterfree and infinite Clefairy
I got 7 Lapras, 1 Butterfree and infinite Clefairy hahaha
Still don't have a single lapras after 30 promo packs
I just pulled back-to-back ones after not having any luck for my first 30 as well. keep the faith.
Im super upset that i didnt get a single lapras after so many promo packs, can someone freind me and give me on spare when trading comes out?
Ive almost got lapras in every language now, will be uploading that video tommorow to show how many packs that took. Good info!
Wow every language!
Then why do I have 17 Pikachu, and 7 of the next highest, Mankey?
Unlucky
It's because someone else in the world got 17 lapras so you averaged each other out to within statistical significance, probably.
