Cotton clean-ups changed my wax melting life. No more drips or fighting with a butter knife. I use jumbo cotton balls on mini warmers. One ball absorbs the whole dish.
You know what? I JUST got some and tried them yesterday! Love them for quick wax changes! I’ll be repurchasing for my warmers that have big enough dishes
If you don't want to waste the cotton, you can keep them in a bag and they are great fire starters! Good to take camping or if you have a lot of bon fires throughout the year
Yes that’s true! I do save my hot wax that I dump from the wax dishes now. I dump it into an old bowl and when it’s full I pop the bowl in the freezer and after a while the wax loosens from the sides. We put that giant wax blob in the bottom of our fire pit.
Omg I would have anxiety using a knife. I was watching a video years ago about a lady that broke her disk in her hand doing that if I remembered correctly. Be careful! .
I use an old Tupperware orange peeler. I use the flat part, make a little hole in the middle, like you’re unscrewing the center of the bowl. Push under the center hole. That hole pops up… scoop it up from the center. I saw this on another RUclips video from someone I believe she was in the UK. It works every time for me!
I have always used the freezer method, but then I recently purchased several “Outlet” Wax Warmers... Yes, l’ve had a couple of “Waxidents”! By the way, “Waxidents” very funny! thank you for making this/explaining! now i can manage to change out my wax successfully in multiple different ways. i will probably stick with the freezer method mostly myself (or maybe just put it out on my back porch for 30m since it's winter in new england) since i won't want it burning all the time anyway.
Good video Patricia! I think my personal favorite is the cool and scoop method. It's fairly tidy and basicly foolproof. If the wax gets too firm you just turn it on again. Thanks for your input.
Are you changing out the wax because it stops smelling? (I just started using a wax warmer and am noticing that the wax never disappears but just stops smelling)
Yes, the wax won’t deplete in volume but gradually the scent oils will “burn off” causing the wax to lose scent. I change my wax sometimes when it still has a little bit of scent (to smell up close) but it’s not enough to scent the room anymore.
@Self-Love Journey i don’t get tea light wax warmers. Tea light candles don’t last very long at all then you’re lighting a flame that burns wax to warm wax above. It doesn’t make sense to me. If I’m confused lmk or if there’s something I just don’t get lmk
@@adrianahernandez6533 Several wonderful properties. For one, tea lights last quite awhile. I use the 3 hour small ones but I have some 8 hour ones around as well. Two, they're cheap. Very cheap. Three, they add a subtle illumination to a room while simultaneously making the room smell nice, and you can place them anywhere, no need to run a cord around a room. I do my own method: toilet paper to soak the wax up and then wipe it clean. Cotton balls worked great but got expensive with 6 warmers. Sometimes I use a spoon to run around the edge of wax is cold. Gonna try some other ways now thanks!
Depending on which warmer i either do the cotton ball, freezer or I will Hot dump into a mason jar and then put that whole full jar of wax in the freezer and pop out in one piece when full. You could also make an emergency candle that way with a wick added
Very nice information! I've been told that the cupcake silicone cups work, and yes, they do, but I realize that when I use that, the wax seeps through the silicone. I will definitely try the cottonball method to change my scents! Thank you!
On firm wax like the one you did with the corner of the clam shell, I use an expired credit card and just run it around the edge of the wax and it pops right out...easy peasy lemon squeezy :) No mess, no damage to the warmer dish...then wipe with paper towel if you needed :)
@@PatriciaG-NosetoToes Thanks, I've been doing that for years...and if I just want to change out but my wax still is good I just take it out with the credit card and throw the disk into a plastic baggie, put a sticker on the baggie to write the scent on with a marker and use it at a later time. Hi Patricia, thank you that was very helpful. I used to let the wax melt a little and then pop it out with a knife, not realising it could scratch the dish. I will be using the cotton wool ball method from now on, because after melting at night you could remove the wax for the next day.

Personally I wouldn’t add anything. Remove the stubborn waxes by either cotton balls or dumping the hot wax. Sometime if the warmer you use has a dish that has wide open sloping sides rather than parallel like sides it will be easier to remove if using the freezer method.
We have small ones in my area. Luckily Scentsy I can just let cool down to a pliable stage and scoop out. I use cotton balls sometimes for other companies though
I stick the little bowls in the freezer. When it’s hard just tap it against the trash can and in the trash it goes. May need to persuade it with a butter knife.
I usually dump it in a designated old ceramic bowl I use just for wax and once full I freeze the bowl and the chunk of wax comes out. If you dump into the garbage it might burn through the bag, but if there’s stuff inside already that seems to absorb the wax and I don’t have a blow out.
I see this is an older link, but a suggestion/question: could you just drop a few drops of essential oil into the was when it quits smelling? Does the wax ever evaporate?
Personal preference. Some wait until the smell is gone, others change it when it still has scent but it’s not as strong as it was the the earlier hours of melting.
I do all the time and have never had an issue. Just make sure the dish is cooled to room temperature before placing in freezer. Once out, let warm up to room temp before putting on the heat.

If it has scent left and you want to warm it another time you could. Wax shouldn’t be stored in zip lock brand type bags but need polypropylene specific bags to preserve the fragrance
if the dish was cooled to room temperature first I’d think it would be ok. then once the wax popped out let it comeback to room temp before putting it back on the warmer. always watched for wax leaking through to be safe
You could but I wouldn’t advise that in all cases. If it’s unglazed porcelain it will absorb the water (think those brown sugar pottery things you soak to keep brown sugar fresh) - for any porcelain dishes you could clean residue with small amount of alcohol or use a magic eraser. Sometimes counter clean will take most residue off. You could wash glass dishes with soap and water without any consequence.
@@PatriciaG-NosetoToes Got it! Btw, I tried the scoop out method from my newly purchased mini and it was so fun to do! I pressed my finger into the wax after about 10mins, then gently scooped it out. So rewarding!
You can melt various wax forms. I’m not sure on bees wax as I have not encountered any wax melts made from bees wax. Paraffin, soy, and other blends have all been fine though.
One thing I have found is if there is residue on the bottom of the dish the wax “sticks” to the dish. Another thing I sometimes have to do is push down on the frozen wax disc and turn it as I’m pushing and it often releases when I do that On occasion I use a toothpick to pry the edge up
be careful if you choose to use the hot dumb method. if you have a warmer that gets super hot, there’s a chance your wax will be so hot, that it will burn through your kroger trash bag when you dump it in the trash. it happened to me and got on my carpet and i cannot get it up.
Oh no! I actually line my garbage cans with these absorbent towels that Scentsy send with their orders in the summer. One side is cloth/cotton and the other side has a water resistant plastic barrier. I put the plastic side down in case wax leaks through. It acts like a paper towel in a way. It’s saved me once or twice for sure! Did you try using a hairdryer to gently warm the carpet and then dabbing the area /absorbing the wax on a Kleenex or paper towel?
** let the warmer dish warm up to room temperature from the freezer …so when you place it on the warmer again and turn it on you won’t crack your dish due to temperature shock. Waxident - slang term when you spill wax
YEs I do..you just have to change the CANADIAN flag to The USA flag in menu section at the beginning of your. shopping session patriciagaetz.scentsy.ca
I use a method of putting a tea spoon in the wax whilst its burning and then when the tea light goes out and the wax hardens I just pull the spoon up and the wax comes out leaving a completely dry dish. Then if the wax has a bit of a smell left I use it in the bathroom warmer.
Patricia, yes I put all my main warmers dishes in together. I have 3 warmers out in my main areas, I change them all at the same time and place all 3 dishes in my microwave for 20 seconds. I usually just can pull it out with my fingers, sometimes I use a spoon to start it.

@@PatriciaG-NosetoToes scentsy
One thing I have found is if there is residue on the bottom of the dish the wax “sticks” to the dish.
Another thing I sometimes have to do is push down on the frozen wax disc and turn it as I’m pushing and it often releases when I do that
On occasion I use a toothpick to pry the edge up
I use a spoon to scrape the sides and then it comes off
I’m too nervous of my dish getting scratched
Don’t forget the cotton balls...lol
be careful if you choose to use the hot dumb method. if you have a warmer that gets super hot, there’s a chance your wax will be so hot, that it will burn through your kroger trash bag when you dump it in the trash. it happened to me and got on my carpet and i cannot get it up.
1:37 why reason ?
6:23,
8:30 waxident, 8:50
** let the warmer dish warm up to room temperature from the freezer …so when you place it on the warmer again and turn it on you won’t crack your dish due to temperature shock.
Waxident - slang term when you spill wax
❤❤❤
👍
Do you sell to the US
YEs I do..you just have to change the CANADIAN flag to The USA flag in menu section at the beginning of your. shopping session patriciagaetz.scentsy.ca
I scrunchie up paper towel to absorb it
Then wipe it out
I’ve tried that but I often have spillage
@@PatriciaG-NosetoToes I ran out of paper towel so uses the cotton balls then stuck in my aircon loover
Yes it was better than paper towel
Tfs
I’m a cotton ball kinda chick. 😉
Izzy Lizzy of course! I forgot the dollar store!!!
Why not just microwave it and dump it then it's already remotely hot for your next batch
For me it’s not ideal to put non food items in the microwave
I always just pour it out when it's a liquid and wash off the rest
We call that hot dumping
Freezer method
It’s the cleanest method (but takes a bit of patience.)
I use a method of putting a tea spoon in the wax whilst its burning and then when the tea light goes out and the wax hardens I just pull the spoon up and the wax comes out leaving a completely dry dish. Then if the wax has a bit of a smell left I use it in the bathroom warmer.
lmao a waxident!! hahah
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
I throw all my dishes in the microwave for 20 seconds, then they just scoop right out. No need for wiping. Lol
See! I’ve never thought of using the microwave! Thanks
Do you put them in all together?
Patricia, yes I put all my main warmers dishes in together. I have 3 warmers out in my main areas, I change them all at the same time and place all 3 dishes in my microwave for 20 seconds. I usually just can pull it out with my fingers, sometimes I use a spoon to start it.
Seems a waste of wax 😂
Once the scent is gone? I discard but some people save to make emergency candles if they’re crafty. Or use as fire starters for a fire pit
She really said waxident 😂😭 also I’ve been looking for methods to use that I don’t have to wipe it bc when it makes that squeaky noise it’s like nails on a chalkboard for me I can feel it in my bones and I HATE IT
Scentsy also has cotton clean ups that may work for you
@@PatriciaG-NosetoToes I prefer the freezer one it’s the easiest and cleanest lol
Where did you bought the heat and scoop black candle? Method 3?🤍
I’m not sure
@@PatriciaG-NosetoToes ooo okeee
Do you know the name of the candle?
